I catch you in a morning with footage the first time. There isn’t a third time… 😂

Just done my bins. I thought of @sierraman. It's a four-binner tomorrow as well

I’d chemically castrate people that put their bins out early.

I get the appeal of an old Defender if you liked tinkering with things. I don’t get the other stuff at all though the new Defender as capable as I’m sure it is seem to get bought by these ‘all the gear - no idea’ guys. You know the type, have a ‘shop’ full of DeWalt gear and a £3,000 Axminster thicknesser but you can see from the clinically clean garage no actual work goes off in there. They probably have a pair of Timberland boots that they genuinely think they could cross the Sahara in and a TAG Heuer watch that has the capacity to tell the time under 200m of water. Something I’d quite like to see them test.

I suppose he was ‘of use’ up to about the Austin 1300, why they kept him on with crappy projects up until the 80’s I have no idea. He really was getting a nuisance so they should have fucked him off in the mid sixties.

Nissan Terrano is it not? Novacar did a similar one in the 90s I'm sure.

I think the Triumph Stag was a decent car, my uncle restored a ‘77 S plate to concours condition. Once they were sorted they were a lovely looking car. The SD1 would have been great if they could have screwed it together properly - they could in retrospect have kept the SD1 Vitesse going until 91/92 alongside the 800 but as per they were getting it all wrong. The rest they were just having a laugh at people’s expense, I enjoy seeing a Marina, Allegro, 1800 etc but really they were inexcusably shit. I’m thoroughly glad some have survived but likewise there’s no getting away from the fact they were hilariously badly thought out.

I did my own version of a hidden treasure Allegro quite a few years ago. It was for a mate and was a cruel reminder of his own car, languishing at the bottom of his garden!

    And the real thing:

I actually did it from memory as I didn't have the pic, and I wish I'd spent more time getting the green slime right!

BL way ahead on tech? 🤣🤣🤣😀🤣 Yeh obvious when you think about it, I mean I always longed for a shit looking fwd car with a square steering wheel. I’m sorry, that’s piss funny. We haven’t even mentioned the ‘really cool’ 1750 Maxi, that every up & coming wanted as their next company car, or worse still went & paid hard earned for.
Then let’s jump forward a bit to the Maestro & Montego ffs, my brother had an MG Maestro, what an absolute pile of dogshit. The build quality was nothing short of shocking, really bad. What’s with the FWD anyhow? Ask BMW, it’s simple, it’s the BEST driving experience, end of

The Escort would have been a late 70’s one, the Riva for which he still has the foot pump for was a H plater so at the time maybe 6 years old. I don’t know the complexities of the deal but it had a paint finish on the boot like the singing detectives back, the radio fell out of the dash. I remember him taking me and my mum to the shops in it and the overwhelming smell of hot melting Russian plastic/rubber and us cowering in the back in case anyone saw us in it. We still laugh about it now actually. 😂

The best one used to be a Hot Wheels Stow and Go. I still have mine, the back legs are fucked but it’s still an ace set, my youngest things it’s great when we get it out. She has my folding Motorcity set I bought second hand in the 90’s and she’s played it to death.

I remember my brother having a 1.6 Sport, peco back box on it, it seemed much cooler than an XR3 at the time. Like a fool he swapped it for a Lada, probably from reading this you’d be a good judge to say he is not a rich man these days.

This could be a money spinner to replace lost revenue from fossil fuel sales:
Every UK driver has to renew their test every 12/24/whatever months. It involves a practical test for which there is a charge of about £100.
If there has been an accident claim on insurance record, specific coaching is required (again, more £££) to teach how to avoid the same mistake.
Driving tuition is semi nationalised on a franchise basis with XX% going to govt coffers.
Forriners operating commercially in UK are subject to same rules.
(Yeah I know, not gonna happen)
Are there any countries that require a regular re-test? Feels like something the Swiss might do.
