  1. 120 isn’t as bad. The 1.8, leisurely but it gets there, apart from a habit of pissing oil out everywhere and the occasional headgasket they’re a good unit. Straightforward to work on. I wouldn’t hold out much hope for a Di, nearly all of them will have been through the minicab circuit. Probably worth rooting out a 2.0 Turbo, rare machine. The VXR hasn’t aged well at all, quick but it’s just naff. A bit like an illegal dog and a baseball hat it’s a bit chavvy.
  2. I can’t remember, I do have one with the cargo somewhere, I’ll check sometime.
  3. Back of a matchbox Superkings bullion van
  4. I guess as well it depends on the car, the Cavalier was well regarded even long after production ceased as being a good reliable car. The Vectra on the other hand wasn’t held in high regard at all so loads will have reached banger stakes much quicker and therefore probably treated as disposable. Very few Vectra C are in what you’d call enthusiastic hands, they’re going through that stage the Montego/Maestro went through of being cheap ‘run it into the ground’ transport.
  5. The twin packs are awful value really at £8, either that or I’m really tight.
  6. The Focus Mk1 and Mondeo Mk2 went through that period when if the clutch went or problems were mounting up then you could just go out and buy a better one for £6-700, assuming it didn’t fail the test catastrophically first. If prices were what they are now it would have been worth spending money on them but shitehawks like me just bought them and ran them into the ground. And now there’s not many left 🤣
  7. I did see a trailer on eBay recently which had different wheels on it that looked factory but not ones I’d ever seen before, wondered if they were a trial.
  8. The amount you still see around against Carlton’s/Granada etc must be testament to them.
  9. They were still a bloody good car, I don’t think anything would last as long for taxi work. I spotted a circa 1995 250D still cabbing a few weeks ago in Tenerife, it’s outlasted even the Toyotas they had on fleet.
  10. I think there will always be decent numbers of 75 left, it will always be a bit of an icon of its time I guess. I’m not sure if they’ll be commanding big money ever, an SD1 isn’t that expensive in the scheme of things. I do think now will be the time to pick one up though as a lot of the old giffers that bought them perhaps with their lump sum on retirement will be carking it so the chance to get a one owner one that’s been serviced on the dot will be diminishing.
  11. I have had that albeit not on a Mk4 Mondeo.
  12. A chap across from me was doing some work on his car just resting on a scissor jack. I did offer him an axle stand but he decided against it so you can only suggest, I figure people think it will be fine. Which it probably will be, right up to the point when it won’t and it falls off the jack.
  13. Ours does that but I’ve a feeling quite a lot of it falls in the boot of their car. I wouldn’t mind we’re it not for that there’s usually loads of debris and nails/screws etc left all over the show. Clearing that up so I don’t get a nail in the tyre should be their prime concern.
  14. More to the point why did they think that we’d always wanted a Nissan Cherry with the Arna?
  15. Only in Italy would the fire brigade use a six carburettored V6 Alfa for tending to the odd fire.
  16. I’d always worry about making some massive ‘miscalculation’ and taking out a German Stockbroker and half a mile of Armco and the track being closed for four hours resulting in my insolvency.
  17. Unsurprisingly I have several Sierras...
  18. Went to car boot. Absolutely fuck all diecast but did pick up 3 Kamasa pliers for 50p each which is a result as Kamasa are my go-to for pliers
  19. Just seen another candidate for Co-op Funeral Care working on his car, sat on the trolley jack as he’s hammering the cunt out of something underneath. No stands or even wheel under the car...
  20. Halfords seem to just employ children, it must be a stipulation on the interview process ‘do you have no interest or knowledge of cars?’ to make the grade. I believe ECP have a similar question is that ‘can you demonstrate on a daily basis that you’d much rather be somewhere else and display a really unhelpful attitude?’ to get through their gates.
  21. I’ve got a couple of those, the axles always seem to be rusty and they are rarely found in good condition.
  22. Provenance is everything with something like that. Given it’s worth thousands it’s worth going to some trouble to fake.
  23. When you go through that phase of discovering fire... me and my mate tried setting fire to a Corgi 1/36 190E. Unsurprisingly our efforts to fire it with a gas hob lighter came to nothing until we could find some lighter fluid. Then when it did catch fire we panicked and kicked it in the stream where I presume it still is. Im not going and looking for it now though as that is fucking weird.
  24. Metallic or Military green, the one you have is the military green one. The hardest to find is the 90’s issue or Olive Drab.
  25. Green Weasel as well that’s not common.
