  1. It's nice when their being all boring and reliable. Treasure these moments! If it boosts fine without the guage working I'd be inclined to put that on the ignore list/check for obvious broken vac lines
  2. My friends daughter got essentially given a 65 plate volvo v40 2l turbo derv the other week. Me and him spent a good few hours last week worrying she'd not be able to get insured on it. Under 20, at uni, an years driving record. The quote came back, same details as her current shagged out 1l corsa, just a different vehicle and... £900 for the year. I almost thought it a tad pricy but not beyond the realms of reality when my mate said its only about £130 more a year than the corsa 😂 I remember my learner policy on my 2.0hdi 206 at £400ish a year turning into over £1500 when I passed. Had 5/6 painful months of massive payments before it ended and I could get a more reasonable quote. Sadly I thought those days were over
  3. That doesn't sound fun, plus being a modern don't you need to be careful of moisture messing stuff up? Or drill it a drain hole, fit a tiny pc fan to each one to circulate the air 🤔😅 Love the profile pic too 👌
  4. Hit a pothole not fall off the side of Wales, don't worry 🤞
  5. Could be worse indeed, hopefully he can sort the handbrake properly and that's it sorted for a while. You'll get the ball joint done then 3 weeks later hit the biggest cuntiest pothole you've ever hit with it, I speak from experience 😂
  6. Yep! I'm hoping these small jobs aren't suddenly all going to come at once though. 🤞🤞 Car is still dry and it hasn't all leaked out, so thats good. If after some miles it all vibrates loose I need to remember not to panic and it's not coolant 😂 (coolant is still an ever go gentle occasional drip and has been since doing the belt so that's fine)
  7. Awesome, welcome! Glad you made it! Nice* selection of cars too (the modern section unlocks after 10 posts 👌)
  8. My offer still stands when you get it driving. I'll meet you outside the ulez somewhere and can be your personal rear crash protection/indicators/"fuck off prick" to the car behind for your first drive to the FoD until you get used to it. Driving it around london would be fine*, far scarier when your get out to the country and everyone speeds up. I'm driving to Kentish town tomorrow and know that once we get up to Perivale if we go above 40 we're doing well. Be more like 25 (and dad's car will still insist on firing up the engine for 4 seconds before shutting it off and going back to eV just in time for the next set of lights despite be being as gentle and slow pulling away as is humanly possible to be for the entire journey 😂)
  9. If your technical enough to do a screen recording of it as well that would help me try to replicate it... Obs studio is free
  10. That is nice, and a wonderful engine and box combo
  11. I shouldnt have set the share to use the cache initially though... Realised im trying to move 3x it's size through it... Mover invoked
  12. I've now got FreeFileSync installed. Created a dedicated share on Unraid for it and gave it the file path and it's syncing across now! I can then save that job as a batch file, and I'm hoping the windows scheduled task stuff is smart enough to let me run it on, say, shutdown. PC isn't on every day, would be more helpful for it to sit and run before the pc shuts down, I'd have turned the screen off and walked away by then so that's easy! If not, back to the drawing board. I did think earlier I'm now running off an ssd used in a mates gaming rig, if it died there'd be zero diagnosis, no point even starting to cry, at least with a mech drive you know if it's alive. And now I've backed up the files I needed (anyone want my years license key for the software I used? 😂) I'll format the drives and probably not need them. I'll strip the case down and remove the 1tb and probably bin it, will keep the 2tb for torrent dumps and stupid stuff but only because I can... I've also got a cold storage not unlike yours. Once a year I fetch the 4tb drive I keep in a proper HD box with HD padding (from the new 8tb I swapped it out for) and it gets plugged in with my USB-sata adapter and I'll copy+skip existing the photos I've taken of the kids and etc. No hoover/YouTube stuff or the torrented media, just the irreplaceable stuff. Then it's powered down and back in the loft. Unraid parity can save me otherwise 🤞🤞🤞(and my parity is greater than what I use so it'll be a 1-1 clone hopefully 😂) Or I should get on the pc and do my editing backlog and get it back off onto the unraid anyway, but I've sat at the pc too much now to want to go near the thing
  13. Just means you need to plan ahead! I'll buy oil for the September change in may/June 👌
  14. Yep it's one of my nightmares too and it came true yesterday 😂 Tried a few free trials of stuff, Partition Magic found the stuff but I couldn't recover from the trial, so I hit reddit and found something called DMDE which worked! It's only folder by folder in the free tier but all videos restored! Will go through the rest of the drives later, or pay for £16 for a year and be able to do multiple folders at once rather than folder by folder. Turned a nice quick reinstall into a long job, but could be worse! I don't even need the flipping drives really, once their backed up they could go.l but my case is so big they don't need to... 😂 I did unplug everything in the end But only after I'd deleted the drives 😂 I'm so used to flattening oem drives with no care I merrily deleted the partitions. Then went to set the new partitions on the new drive (300gb windows 1.4tb another) and went "why do I still have a 2tb partition? Oh fuck that's not a partition". I should have realised 2 steps before but never mind, all sorted now 🤞
  15. Fitting a nice new ssd a friend gave me I fucked up and deleted the partitions of my other 2 drives 😭 Seems it's probably recoverable but I've lost the last 2 months of work and YouTube videos I've filmed if it doesn't. Any recommendations? I've found Disk Drill
  16. Yes the message was got long ago and now they just come up when relevant elsewhere, like D501SWL or all Vauxhall are shite. This thread is the safe space, so that's what it should stay. The fact people keep dragging it up elsewhere and filling pages of invacare posts up of their own doing from thin air isn't lost either. Equally, we are the loved of the unloved... Some people would do well to be reminded of that.
  17. I have screenwash again! It died on the way to work Monday, so I ordered a new pump, which came yesterday. Nice and quiet at work/I've done so many hours these past couple of weeks for no extra pay I could have all next week off and still come out on top so don't feel bad. Only the finest quality parts here! Peeling back the arch liner and cutting 1 cable tie gave me the access I needed, so I pulled the old pump and saved the fresh screenwash I'd filled it with the prior Saturday... Fitted the new pump, sloshed a bit back in filtering it through a microfiber cloth as I went as there was some dirt that came out and... It leaked! Out it all came again, I tried again and it still dripped. Ffs never mind does it work? No. Got the multimeter out and there was no juice at the wires Turns out it was the fuses, I was just looking at the wrong one (because the diagram in the manual bears zero relation to the fuse box I have.) Borrowed a 10a from somewhere else and 12v was restored. Back out with the new pump, and I fitted it back in with the old rubber seal and it's not leaking anymore, and the washer jets are a shit load more powerful now! The old pump was knackered, between leak 1 and after the multimeter shot above I refitted the OG one assuming the new pump was just shite quality, changed the fuse from something else and it fired it once and blew the fuse again. Old seal and new pump sorted it Also noticed the last proper fixing for the undertray had gone awol and it was flapping in the breeze like so many golf's and insignias I see on the m40, so I deployed more cable ties. There are now zero proper fixings holding it on, and it's probably stronger for it! Need to go into town at lunchtime and get more fuses (no idea what I robbed a fuse from and I don't care for now) and it should be good to go again! I'm also dripping wet after laying in mud and screenwash to fit the pump and sort the undertray. Almost 174k on the original pump, and I've had it empty and frozen many times so I'll forgive it. Hopefully this new one lasts at least a year
  18. Not blown a fuse... Their all fine bar one that broke when I pulled it out... Everything seems to still work although not driven it yet. Hope it stays dry for the next few days until I can have a look at the pump itself in the daylight, or rains properly so I can keep the wipers on
  19. I've either blown a fuse or my screenwash pump died on the way to work... Even when frozen I can usually hear the pump, there's no noise from it now 😢
  20. I tried to recreate that photo at 10.40pm last night but couldnt get the angle 😂 Trying to get home from Wolverton, I wanted to go down the a5 and the fast way home but the a5 was closed, so had to go the hateful countryside route. Then Whitchurch was fully closed for resurfacing so had to go the way I truly hate back into Thame! On the positive side I think I've smacked my tracking more straight than it was... Or I've got an egg in the tyre, not looked yet... Pulled in there to roll some smokes and rub my eyes, I really don't get on well with night time driving at the moment. Luckily I missed the 3 muntjacks that threw themselves infront of me
