  1. Hnnng those interior shots bring back childhood memories 😂 Would have gone from a 3 year old Mondeo to this with a ve badge on, I didn't know how lucky I was as a kid 😂 Trying to think what my stepmum would have had, was after the 2cv, it might have been the AX forte, then the v reg clio 3 door from new
  2. Should have loaded the pleasure wagon shell up with scrap and offered it all in part ex 😂
  3. If my colleague had not stopped to chat to me before leaving work he'd have been driving up the m40 right where that caravan went south down the north carriageway a few years ago. He was right at the front of where they closed the road luckily*, that 15 minutes delay probably did him good! I was stuck for 3 hours in it 2 hours later when I finished at 6... Should have checked Google maps https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-oxfordshire-49005858.amp
  4. Ah, you need to come to the FoD! (I can't make shitefest this year, first year since 2015 and I'm doing something else!)
  5. Good luck! Have a few glasses of water queued up
  6. I wonder if anyone's ever got a colour and trim matched full line up of this era ford with that front end? Must be a Galaxy Mondeo Focus Escort Ka opportunity? Maybe even orion but that's probably pushing it
  7. Nice! Is it any better on the slow speed fucked road surface type of bumps? That's where I felt mine always got let down but equally it kind of made sense why it did it and couldn't keep up. Where you'll notice it now is high speed cross country shit where the car stays dead flat at insane speeds! And speed humps at 50
  8. Drill brushes are fab things! All you need is a shitty wet pick up only vac then, just add water externally, drill then suck it all dry. I want to take my seats out and give the carpets a really good going over this summer, but I have the fear of unplugging seat airbag connectors on a 22 year old French pos so haven't yet. Might just do around the seats...
  9. How bad is the connector on the ecu side? Is it beyond a can of contact cleaner and small wire brush? You'd possibly be best to try and probe the wires from the connections too but that will be hard... Does the lid of the ecu thing come off in an easy looking way? Might be able to remove the pcb and clean it up and see if it's not too fried
  10. I remember they were everywhere for a brief while around Peterborough, as taxi's and private vehicles. Then the zafira mk1 crept in. I don't remember when I last saw a proper 'people carrier' without a taxi plate on the back now you mention it... Always modern galaxy's shuffling up and down the m40, sometimes blowing black smoke out the back in time with the throttle
  11. Sorry popped out after posting! I only mentioned it because I've had exactly the same but from a fuck up I made. Had 2 vintage Hoover handles sprayed up and drying, forgot about them and sprayed some silicone spray on something else in the garden... The tiny micro droplets that hit the handle looked exactly like that! Sort of blooms out from a centre point 3 years later I must rub them down and re spray them and give the owner his hoover back... Your posts are very inspiring to get on with that now the weather is improving 👍
  12. Something nasty inside the plastic of the bumper? Amazing even with that though, fuck it leave it for now, move on to the other stuff and try again in a few months (I know you won't... 😂)
  13. Oooh nice! I remember the back 2 seats used to live in the garage most of the time, and occasional long trips he'd take the middle row out and leave me and my stepbrother right at the back with all the leg room, that was cool! Another memory was being fully loaded with a house move and dad being on the phone physically holding it between his hands and shoulders (as was the style then) deftly changing gears and steering and etc whilst having an animated phone call negotiating Peterborough city centre. Thank goodness those days are gone 😂
  14. Many memories of my dad's V reg Sharan he had from new! (for 3 years as a company car) We went to France alot in it, I didn't find it comfy to sleep in back then 😂 I remember the reg V517DDC, it's dead
  15. Seems good to me, on 4g and flicking about in mk for the past little while! Snappier than before, there isn't the initial tiny wait whilst the content loads on the big threads
  16. Would be bloody terrifying I imagine! Should I have called 101 about it? Was more panicking there was something wrong with the car at the time but there isn't
  17. Oil/diesel all over the road, especially when raining 😡 Driving home as usual, going through a village a van pulled out a bit close to me, so I braked to slow and was about to flash him and call him a twat when I felt the front wheels lock up, and feedback through the brake pedal. Odd. Dropped right back, music off, windows down incase I'd got a puncture somehow that I didn't notice doing 80 on the m40 2 minutes prior but all sounded fine. Then I smelt the air and it honked of derv, the road was shiny too. Carried in and at the next turning I needed I slowed right down (no one behind me), turned slowly and went to accelerate off and lost all traction on the front wheels, it felt like my puma when the clutch really went, but it was the tyres spinning. Mild panic set in then as I was on a very twisty road so carried on paranoid but the rainbow on the road eased off and all seemed fine after that. Got to go back that way in the morning, hope it pisses it down all night to wash it away
  18. I'd keep the rusty one for future reproduction, maybe wipe it in wd40 and bag it. Would probably clean up OK anyway as is. But treat rev to the best sealed minty nos parts you have! I fired many genuine 60+ year old spares at this the other month and it came out very well, and was satisfying to do! Stuff thats been sitting for decades finally used
  19. Would only ever be one way to test it, and that might not be somewhere you have a plan B... Just adds to the excitement of astra ownership
  20. Could you run the ground wires for them into the cabin and onto some handily placed switches? Wouldn't even need to pop the bonnet then, might not even need to turn the car off or stop driving...
  21. @vulgalourused talc to find a water leak in his maestro I remember, especially if you've already got the interior out. Plus it'll smell nice afterwards
