  1. It's a shame* the dvla haven't been hacked and there's not a dataset out there we could annonamise (sp) mildly then play with πŸ˜‚
  2. I've done a year with 1st central and they were OK. Didn't need to claim though πŸ˜‚ Sadly they decided to offer me a stupid price this year so weren't chosen to provide me a space on MID in exchange for ££
  3. I'd say it could be. We could go round blowing the winter off the cars that would take such treatment and clearing drain holes/runs etc! Be easier than kicking my little nilfisk around with power and the generator
  4. Those carpets might be better done at the house with the pressure washer and vax like we did the rolls carpets on a sunny weekend! If you could mount a length of wood in the outside of the garage or the house we could use that to hang them up and wash them vertically! Or use the bonnet of the range rover
  5. Had a lovely day yesterday. Xsara took me to Birmingham to pick up a friend, then Wakefield to a vacuum cleaner collectors mini-meet at a place some of the northern lads rent out and use above a gym (literally the first time in my life I've ever 'been to a gym') Someone bought their early 1910's Hoover 103/5 (I can't remember), that was cool to see! Xsara smashed the lot at either 30, 50 or 80. Bar a couple of times the turbo didn't kick in occasionally it took the drive and the hellish journey back into brum at 7pm to drop my mate back off.
  6. Oooh that's good then, would it be worth removing it all, cleaning and putting it in the container? Would the bolts even need undoing it would Charlie just be able to lift the seats out runners and allπŸ˜‚
  7. Oh it looks lovely*. Forgive me if I pass on sitting in it when we clean it out and assess it/you have a little cry
  8. Read that earlier, such a shame. He was a wonderful guy, messaged me alot when I had my xm πŸ˜₯ was practically begging people to come take the spares he had over the last few months too so they went to a good home
  9. Deffo smoll and petrol for those journeys then! During covid I thought a few times of swapping the Xsara for something small and petrol as its a lumbering cold bastard when cold, and I felt bad doing it. Not so bad now I'm in the office and can do a 20 mile m40 blast 4 times a week but I'd vote something 1.4 and non turbo's? (literally zero idea what modern small petrol are like these days though πŸ˜‚) Then change the oil every year regardless of if you've done 500 miles or 5000. Especially if it's got a turbo and/or reputation
  10. I'd buy a Β£2.5/3k car that's had a clutch and the belts done once and spend the remaining grand on any little bits it needs, tyres maybe and a good service.
  11. It's doing the small jobs before they become big jobs that stops bad experiences! I had to do the rocker cover gaskets on the ex's 1.6 and 1.8 Vauxhalls, need to do it to my car too this year. It's mildly worse on the Vauxhall though as it weeps onto the exhaust manifold and stinks (thats the nagging I got to change it, not that it was leaking but it stunk and blew smoke up when sat in traffic πŸ˜‚. Xsara doesn't do that so I've been able to ignore it more)
  12. I had similar on a citroen zx, the fuel needle was jumpy af below 1/4 a tank and the contact points were all worn away. I just got used to 2 1/2 trips to work or 100 miles once it started and filled up! Can't hurt to have a mental 'I've got 450 miles if I drive like x or 220 miles if I drive like Y' in your head though regardless of how well the needle works
  13. Pah I did that for shitefest_Scotland in a Β£150 laguna 2! And slept in it, and it jump started a green goddess My balls are bigger than his...
  14. Enquired about 2 birds needing rescuing yesterday Off to see them tomorrow after work πŸ₯°πŸ₯° It ticked some boxes, the house is so lonely and quiet without Phoenix and the outside cage will soon start to fall apart if I just ignore it another 6 months. Did (and do still) fancy a pair of white doves, but the advert above got Wafted my way and budgies were on the list! A pair was key as I did feel phoenix wasn't terribly happy on his own, and 2 females which is good as 2 males can fight as they age, and 1 of each will be eggs and babies and I don't want that. The lady at the service said if I like them tomorrow bring something to get them home in so I've taken that as a sign to reassemble the cage after sloshing a small bit of rust converter here and there right at the bottom And realised I can fit 4 wheels from a scrap hoover base mega easily so it won't be such a massive wanker to drag out for cleaning (which I didn't do as often as I should...)
  15. Hopefully it's just something gummed up. An old toothbrush, can of brake clean, some rags and spray cleaner, swearing then fresh lithium spray sloshed everywhere might do some good?
  16. I hope it's a really common problem and you'll pay £12.99 posted for some really good stronger replacement parts and a good pdf how to guide 🀞🀞 Any shitty cheap wet vacs on your local Facebook marketplace? That'll dry her out nicely
  17. Maybe you just need to drive faster so the exhaust gases don't have time to reach the cabin? (and with it all being so clean under there would a bit more driving to leave a clear and visible black skid mark be beneficial? You'd know exactly where it was coming from then) I'd not have a clue on the Xsara, it's all so filthy under there any exhaust blow would blend right in πŸ˜‚
  18. That's on the way to mums/the FoD and usually the cheapest around too! I've got used to where the needle on the Xsara needs to be for me to make it there and avoid the expensive Thame stations now
  19. Is it more cost effective to buy an aftermarket/off-road OMGOLLI kit for it? If such things exist? For no real cost saving over having someone who hopefully knows what their doing fit it and warranty it though, its tough. A clutch has always been my "nope" level so far though so I can't talk! (got one done once on my puma and the car was scrap 16 months later... )
  20. I remember when the ex cracked a (fake as it turned out) alloy in the zafira and it didn't have a spare (nor tyre goop but that wouldn't have helped) and the utter fuck about we had getting it 9 miles home with no spare. We could have bought the kit to fit to it too but just changed all the fucked wheels to decent vectra alloys. Wanted to keep a steel with OK tyre in the garden too but never got round to it. Good thing to have especially a full sized one! I got the one on the Xsara reshod a few years ago so hopefully it's there to save me when I need it
  21. Was totting up similar to fix my laguna 2's clutch pedal to the floor issues that produced similar looking numbers and it went to asm... Still regret it a bit now, was a good car otherwise but I didn't have the money to do all the bits that it would have needed at 170k whilst I was in there to do the slave cylinder πŸ˜₯ (dmf rattled the dashboard violently if I let it, learnt to drive around that part mostly, but then doing that involve more clutch work which made the slave cylinder worse etc)
  22. I also had this. All for free from the building opposite Bourne End train station when it was refurbished in (checks exif data...) 4th April 2014 I remember i loaded it badly and the bloody tailgate didnt shut, then smashed my finger removing it and adjusting and re-loading it. Also got some clutch slip on the way home (did it at 7am before work in Marlow up the road) which was one of the only times it ever did it (and was reasonable enough of it do do so I recall thinking at the time as I was driving probably too fast for the weight, just didnt feel it Theyve been in the loft ever since, ceiling hasnt collapsed yet 🀞
