Nope - I dont like them on the mini. But its a personal choice.
Id actually like to see some plain cooper reverse rims on it, but obviously finding something like that to fit the hubs is going to be ticky

    Is it?

They converted the hubs from 5 stud Toyota to a 4 stud Ford pcd.

  2. My current car was the most expensive I ever paid for one.

    €11,700!!

The car in question was a then 3 year old 2008 Ford Mondeo zetec estate,2.0 diesel.

Sold my 2001 Celica for 2,700,so the Mondeo was then costing me €9k.

Ten years later I still own it.

  3. Did an oil and filter change change on mine.

Got a long haul tomorrow,2 1/2 hour drive to the port, catching the early ferry from Dublin ,then driving from Holyhead to North Norfolk.

Hopefully the old girl will stay going, and not leave me stuck on the hard shoulder somewhere! 😕

Always get very nervous before a long drive, not looking forward to it at all.

I bought this car 10 years ago this month!

Yep, it was full to the top. The stuff still in it is the usual Chinese pull backs, money boxes, belt buckles etc that get given to anyone who expresses a vague interest in air cooled VWs. There are some big Bburago New Beetles in there and some other stuff worth selling on

Is that silver pick up a Husky?

Unusual repaint on that Dragon Wheels too.

    Nice haul.

  5. FD VX4/90 is a 2.0,or at least should be,a 2.3 is a simple bolt in job though.

If it is a 2.3 it would have the letters "EL" cast into the right side of the engine block, and 1800 is an "S".

No idea what the 1.6 or 2.0 has cast there though.

  6. They are just an emission reduction device, but in reality they just help gum up the engine at this age and mileage.

It's a simple job to blank off,if you find it makes a difference to the cars oil dilution problem then leave it in,if not it's simple to remove the blank again.

It's worth a try,it also improves acceleration slightly when taking off from standstill.

This comes with the symptom of the feeling of gentle waves of on-and-off boost as you ask for power, before it settles on a steady boost.

Mine does that too,and has done since I've had it,I think it's a trait.

It's a simple job to blank off the EGR,the silver pipe that runs from the the egr to the intake is held on with two bolts on the egr,

undo those and slip in a blanking plate(you can make one easily)it does make an improvement.

The stock brakes are dire. All Vxls R etc.

Mine were bad because the vacuum booster had a leak only when the pedal was pushed down. That and the front brakes were derived from the Viva and really should've stayed there.

Having owned several Viva's and FE's I can't say I agree with that.

I always found them perfectly fine, certainly no worse or better than anything else from the era.

  9. This is nearly ready to go back on the road,a very early 4th generation Prelude.

One of the first 300 built, launched in Japan on the 19th of September 1991,this one was registered on the 30th of the same month.

    2.2 vtec,manual.

Unusual in the fact it's only 2 wheel steer, and no ABS,which was standard on the European market Vtec Prelude, but it's probably a better car for not having those in reliability terms.

    Original and unmodified.

Not mint by any standard, but a nice tidy example of a car that were mostly badly modified and thrashed to death, looking forward to using it again.

    I've owned this since 2002.

Don't do it man!!!! Manually changing gear is for perverts! A 2.0 pinto is never going to be a race car, just embrace the two pedal luxury.

    Sorry dude,but I don't like the 3 speed auto,mine leaks and is clunky,plus I have a 2.0 type 9 cluttering up the shed.

I think the taller gears combined with the Auto rear axle should make motorway driving less of a chore.

I will miss the chrome T bar gear lever though, that is a fantastic piece of design, very ergonomic too.

As a supposedly manual gearshift perv, I like the idea of converting it to manual. But then I also do not live in the UK because when I imagine driving in the UK, it is constant driving in a traffic jams in heavy rain I see in my mind. And even though I hate automatic gearboxes, I understand that in such they are better.

I don't live in the UK either.
