The Yanks didn't deal with Franco. They sold the tooling for the '65 Dart to the Argentinians who then sold to the Spanish. They were originally built by Barreiros then they were taken over by Chrysler Spain.  They were the biggest engined car the Spanish have ever built and are slightly different to the US Darts using some locally produced parts. They all had the leaning tower of power slant 6 with no V8's

Michael Dezer went on a bit of a buying spree about 15 years ago. He bought up loads of mundane rare cars in the UK including my Simca Aronde. He bought it through ebay and I thought it was a wind up until the truck arrived. The transport company had been working for him full time just picking up crap he had bought. I did see a picture of my car out there some years ago as his collection wasn't a proper museum at the time and everything was for sale. First 2 pictures are of it in L.A the second two are from when I owned it after buying it from a Lady who used to race at the Le Mans classic

Here is my old hearse a nicholson with a little 2.3 v6 and manual transmission. It certainly was a low spec one when new

That mk1 granada belongs to sandra who runs the classic hearse club and the ambassador is her partners. I collected the ambassador from London for them when it came out of service. They are a great fun club the hearse club we used to have a great laugh with my one which was named Geoff one year whilst at Le Mans. I have lost a lot of old photo's now but I did have him on the circuit when we were there some years ago

That is totally wrong importing from Europe is harder now but as it is over 30 years old it comes in as a historic vehicle with zero duty and 5 % vat. All you have to do once it gets here is ring HMRC they will ask you to email copies of the registration paperwork and a copy on the invoice. A couple of hours later they email back with a calculated figure for the vat and if you are happy with that just ring them up and pay over the phone. It took me about 3 hours to get the NOVA sorted on a Spanish import. Modern cars get hit with the 10% duty plus 20% vat. It really is simple the DVLA on the other had are a frigging nightmare at the moment randomly sending paperwork back once it has sat on their desk for too long.

It really depends how deep you want to go with diagnostics. The cheap OBD readers will mainly do just engine same with a lot of the bluetooth aps so not worth bothering with if you want to do ABS and airbags. The Autell one doesn't look bad but you might be better off trying to find a good used Launch X431. Either a proper UK version or one that has been updated to UK spec. The hooky chinese copies don't work very well but a properly updated launch is far better than the Snap on and Sykes crap of the same era.
