I do need a new windscreen, mine is definitely past its first flush of youth, slopey, and far from my face. Amazingly new screens are still available, £500 special order, and it is on my wishlist.

I will be, when I've got the funds for new specs. I've not long had an eye test and that landed me with varifocals and a £400 bill for the privilege. For now I'll just avoid night driving.

Drove to a little social thing tonight - it was good, will go again - and it wasn't fully dark on the drive out so all was fine. On the drive back it was fully dark and it wasn't as fine. Oncoming traffic up here has a lot less LED nonsense, there's still quite a few yellowy halogens out there which is nice. However, the bright-dark street lighting plays havoc with my night time depth perception, another flaw of LED lighting. Also, while I can see where I'm going, I can't see very well. I stuck main beam on for a bit to see if it made a difference and it did... also nobody flashed me at all which kind of told me all I need to know about the brightness or lack thereof of my headlights. The two take aways from this is that I probably need some non-photochromatic night time driving specs and to upgrade my headlights significantly. I already knew this of course. What is money if not for spending?

That was the trip where Cabbage learned the instrument binnacle is always lit in a BX even when the headlights are off, which is why he was finding it hard to see where he was going on the way to the fuel station. BX headlights can be bad but not *that* bad.

They did sell a few in France, they didn't do terribly well. That's probably because the Princess did what Citroen's offerings did, but not quite as well.

Hello and welcome to this weird little nook of the forum. Great to see someone else enjoying a wedge in their own way. I've just moved house so I've not had chance to get back into updating the info on the website yet, I'm planning to get working on it over the next couple of weeks. Any data is free to use, I've just been collating what I can find that's out there really and trying to put it into one spot. My survivors list is probably out of date as things stand, I know a couple have surfaced recently and are back on the road, and a couple have died. Mine is now my daily and only transport and I've got plans to do some improvements on her once the dust has settled here. Definitely not one for the purists and I've no plans to return it to stock, I love what its become over the years and I'm looking forward to where it goes in the future. I just use mine exactly as BL intended, as a car. Here we were today at the tip earlier today, proving they are practical even if they don't have the Ambassador's hatch. Did you take over from Kev? Or am I thinking of the other Princess/Ambassador club? It got very People's Front of Judea when I was trying to figure out which club to join and now I'm not a member of any.

Did a tip run in the Princess. You can get a decent amount of stuff in it even though it's a saloon. Still haven't washed it, had the weather for it today and I just don't have the brain for it so it can stay dirty a bit longer.

One of my biggest stresses about moving back up north was the cost of just stuff in general. I don't have the best relationship with money, I'd rather it didn't exist and I dislike having to strive to acquire a certain amount of it every week but until a better alternative arrives I suppose I'll just have to tolerate it. Anyway, one of my big fears was just being able to afford enough food to be healthy because I've been used to Kent prices. Kent prices, it turns out, are actually insane. Being able to eat healthily and within my budget is kind of a big deal for me. Also, next month I'm checking out the local gym since my old one doesn't have a location up here and if it's as good as it looks on paper, that's going to be half the price for the same equipment and better opening hours (it's a 24/7 one, which I wasn't expecting outside of a big city). This week has felt much more stable. Routines are re-establishing themselves and a lot of my fears of going back into rented accomodation haven't been realised which in turn is helping me stay more focused and productive with work. Makes it a lot easier to stay positive about things.

As mentioned either here or on another forum, not really. I want a bigger light upgrade than that when I do it, hence wanting to go LED.

I like the design, but I want an LED upgrade over the H4 bulbs. This idea is going to have to be on hold now anyway, house move cost more than expected so I'm broke for a bit while I recover, the existing H4s will just have to do. That said, there aren't so many wanker lights up here as there are in Kent, nor as much traffic, and in general it's just a whole lot more pleasant to be out driving even the very tiny runs I've done recently.

Unexpected pink car at the supermarket!

Yeah... things got wibbly. The very short version is Pat and I broke up and I moved back up north. The longer version is that Pat and I were grown ups and realised we needed to make some changes, and I got very lucky along the way. I'm not going to go into details because privates lives are just that, but suffice to say that Pat and I have remained friends and intend to continue doing so, our lives just took a different route this year. It's sad, but we're being grown ups about it. Luckily, just as this was happening a good friend of mine was planning his wedding and looking for a tenant since he'd be moving out of his house into a new one and since we both like each other, the rent was in budget, and the area is one I liked it ended up taking one of the biggest stresses out of the whole thing. I'm now set up in North Lincolnshire, where one side of my family is from, so it's almost like going home. The Lanchester has also been very fortunate. Ownership is still shared with Pat and I and the car is staying in Kent with Pat. One reason for this is that Pat is very attached to the car and really is enthusiastic about it even though you won't see that so much through the reporting on the project since that's been me on the face of it. Progress will certainly continue with the car, especially after he accidentally found out a friend is into pre-war and just post-war cars with a speciality in wiring. I'll be visiting Pat as and when funds and time allows both as a friend and to help with things like welding and putting the car together. We discussed this at length and that's why the car briefly went up for sale and was then withdrawn once a solution was realised. Even had I wanted to and Pat was willing to let the Lanchester go I simply don't have the means to look after it so this way is much better. I'm down to just the Princess and I have access to the sorts of resources and people in Lincolnshire that I didn't in Kent so hopefully we'll see some meaningful progress on that too this year. Videos will continue too. I've got a backlog of footage to edit and upload which I'll be doing over the course of this year. With all of the above happening, and selling the Maestro, my schedule with videos got upended somewhat. I'm not sure when the next video will happen. I've had to take two weeks off work for the house move, and the move itself has financially crippled me on top of that, so it's taking a little while to get my head back in the right space for it all. I shall keep you all posted as and when I can but I doubt any progress will be made on the Lanchester until at least the summer of this year, hopefully the existing footage will fill in the gap between now and then. We shall just have to wait and see what Fate has in store.

Usually, applying more of the same product on the affected areas lifts it off. Not always, just usually. A clay bar or, in more extreme cases, Isopropyl alcohol, can also do the trick.

Scrubbed up pretty well did that, all things considered. This was it about a year ago.

I worked out last night I've moved 10 times in 25 years. It's no wonder I struggle to finish anything. Derbyshire, Yorkshire, Croydon, Lincolnshire, Kent, Middlesbrough... it'd just be nice to stay put, I can't keep doing this.

Not a million miles away from yourself, as it happens, in sunny Scunny. Well it was sunny yesterday, it's pretty damp today.

Moved into the new house yesterday. The whole thing went remarkably smoothly except for me underestimating how much actually goes into a regular sized Transit. Fortunately my friends are amazing, so this wasn't an absolute disaster, so the half dozen boxes that I had to leave behind are going to make their way up here later this week. Figuring out moving van size is difficult, a longer wheelbase or higher roof would have been enough to get everything in, but since the next size up would have been both those things that seemed like it would have been much too big and everything would have been rattling about. Now is the race to get the studio up and running again and my headspace where I need it creatively to get back on with work. I definitely don't want to take more than this week off to do it, if I'm not working I'm not earning, such is the nature of self employment.

But that's the opposite of what it's supposed to do! I shall write to them for a refund and forward you the postal order they'll no doubt send.

Princess has been collected by the transporter and is winging its way north to the new house. It'll arrive at new house tomorrow morning so folks have plenty of time to amuse me by papping it on its journey north like they did on its journey south a few years ago. Or not. I'm not your Dad.
