  1. You are learning the ways of Scotoshite well Steviemillar San.
  2. Myself, @juular and @MrsJuular have accepted a mission, whether we like it or not. This may take a considerable amount of time...
  3. One more from the holiday*... Michaelwood Location: M5 Type: One on each side. Link bridge. Welcome Break Petrol Station: BP Hotel: Days Inn (Northbound only) Pros: Big car park. Nice area being nestled in beside the wood Cons: Car park is confusing. Amenities building is large but feels claustrophobic. No signs for the exit. Comments: Stopped here for a tea and a toilet stop. Northbound visit. Nice feel about the place as it's far enough off the M5 that you can't see it and it's next to a nice wooded area giving it a countryside feeling. The car park was plenty big when we visited with loads of free spaces. Toilets at the fucking back as usual. Starbucks outlet and machines was the standard fare for hot beverages so naturally we opted for Subway for tea and coffee. The exit to the car park was a bit hit and miss... we just pointed in the rough direction of the way out. RATING 6/10 Not terrible. Been worse places.
  4. Myself and @Inspector Morose are on a two night trip for reconnaisance for our "Grim" project in Weston-Super-Mare which has allowed a couple of more new stops and one more to follow on the way back so let's begin... Strensham Location: M5 Type: One on each side. No link bridge. Roadchef Petrol Station: BP Hotel: Days Inn (Northbound only) Business Lounge: Regus Express (Northbound only) Pros: Nothing special Cons: Southbound car park access is a pain Comments: This one felt like a 1980s shopping centre that had been done up in the early 2000s. We only done southbound so that's where my comments will come from. There were two big sit-in Costa outlets and one of them was "Temporarily Closed". Other options were Leons, a noodle place, McDonalds and a Spar of all places instead of the usual WH Smith. Not offensive but not entirely pleasant just a very neutral feeling. The oddest thing was a branch of Cotton Traders next to the toilets which also sold Guiness merchandise. The exit southbound is via a roundabout to the M5 / M50 and seeing the roundabout only has motorways coming off it, it makes it one of the very rare occasions where you get a roundabout entirely under motorway regulations. It even has a hard shoulder. The services are not accessible from the M50 though. RATING 5/10 not great but not terrible. Gloucester Location: M5 Type: One on each side. No link bridge. Westmorland Group. Petrol Station: Esso Hotel: None Pros: Westmorland so high quality. Very eco friendly building. Open plan everything. Very large farm shop Cons: Very busy. The car park is much easier to get in to than out of. Comments:One of only 3 Westmorland services on the motorway network, this one is referred to by The SVM™ as Tebay South along with Regular Tebay / Tebay Central and Tebay North (Cairn Lodge / Happendon). It is also referred to as TeletubbyTebay being that the building is built in to a hill, it 's under some ground anyways so it looks like the Teletubbies' house. It's pretty standard Westmorland with a farm shop and eatery and is standard very expensive. I will maintain that all the Tebays *ARE* better than other services but not for the prices they charge. The car park on this is huge (again southbound only experience) because it's so busy. You'll hear people talk about Glouscester service as being unique when they clearly don't know about the other Tebays and when you see them at the site, it looks like they've all come dressed for the occasion. The car park comes at you very quickly but it's at the far end of the car park from the main building so you have to take amuch longer drive to get out than to get in. RATING 7/10 Nice environment. Just another, bigger Tebay.
  5. Probably the last visit to the Field of Daves this year and probably the last new services of the year... Leeds Skelton Lake Location: M1 Type: One site at a junction. Extra. Petrol Station: Texaco Hotel: Ramada Pros: Big site. Lots of parking. Motorway services online website lists lots of amenities. Cons: It's nothing special. Roundabout at the motorway junction is traffic light controlled. Potential for no 24 hour hot food. Comments: I am not a fan of services that are accessed via a junction and especially if that junction is traffic light controlled. A well laid out site with slip roads means you can get in, stop at the petrol station for a pee, and get out again within 5 mins. I was here for about 15 - do that a couple of times on a long journey and it adds up very quickly. Another of these "Extra" brand sites I've visited. This one is considerably larger than the ones I have previously visited at Peebo or Cambridge - the car park is bigger, the amenities building is much larger and the hotel looked huge. Usual Extra fare with many different eateries and also the most northerly branch of "Leon" I've seen to date - a very unremarkable and not particularly nice fast food outlet that you see everywhere in London. Toilets right at the fucking back as usual. Site felt old and new at the same time. A lot of effort goes in to the road layout and parking area but a lot of the white lines have rubbed off so it gets very complicated very quickly. Was initially impressed with "Extra" from my visits to Cambridge and Peebo but it's waining. Maybe cos those two times I was in the car only and had no trailer. Also Leeds' car park for the main building was not centred so unless you could park right outside the front door, you're only going to be driving away from it the further you drive to find a space - increasing the walk back. Would be nice if the main door was in the middle of the parking. Outdoor walking area at the rear if you are so inclined. DUAL RATING 3/10 Use Wooley Edge instead for a pee. 7/10 alright if you actually want a proper stop to eat, stretch legs, etc
  6. Here's a random one from a wee run out in the 740 tonight... Dreghorn Location: A720 (Edinburgh Bypass) Type: Just off a junction. Petrol Station: Shell Hotel: Travelodge Pros: Actually sign posted. Not much else for a quick pee stop if you don't know where you are. Two mens toilets. Cons: Crampt. Local traffic. One female toilet Comments: This one is actually sign posted as services off the bypass so it counts for in here. We just needed a pee stop so it was handy. WOMAN_df2k noted the toilets were a bit imbalanced... one female toilet and two blocks of male toilets. The petrol station was quite a small affair for the amount of pumps that was there. It has a travelodge on site but it was not visited. Looking at Google maps it also appears there is a small residential street at the end of the road the services are on. It doesn't try to be anything fancy other than a basic service station. A rest stop would be a better description. Fooderies are lacking as it's just a Shell garage but there's plenty takeaways nearby at Fort Kinnaird or Straiton retail parks. Conclusion: 5/10 It's just a petrol station
  7. Once again it's the Field of Dreams Daves that leads me to a new services. Still a few more unvisited ones to do on the favoured route home via the M1 / A66 etc. Woolley Edge Location: M1 Type: One on each side. No link bridge. Moto. Petrol Station: BP Hotel: Travelodge Pros: On the day I visited, quiet. Top of a big hill so very easy to get speed up on the way out. Decent truck / camper / coach parking. Cons: Small amenities building. Comments: Detoured via the M1 right through Sheffield rather than the usual M1 / M18 / A1 to avoid the roadworks at Darrington and decided to stop here for a leg stretch seeing Ferrybridge was pretty much off the cards. The whole site seemed old and run down. Not as old as 'First Gen' services like Watford Gap or Lancaster but still not new. The truck parking where I parked the car and trailer was almost empty and fairly large but the road markings were pretty much non existent. The amenities building has a very dodgy looking side door to the trucks and coaches that closes at night and there is an outdoor space on the northbound side only with great views of the truck park. Said amenities building seemed very small but it was quiet when I was there so I can only imagine it must be chronic when it's even slightly busy. I opted for a Greggs as it was the only thing other than Burger King and WH Smith that was there. The northbound exit slip road was about 18 miles long and all down hill which was excellent in a 78bhp 205 towing a trailer. 6/10 Go elsewhere if it's busy
  8. Aye I've got the spare alloy to be delivered... *gestures*... at some point.
  9. @juularis also in there *JUST* at 0:28 with the blue 205
  10. Just had it confirmed from @juular who has an email saying that it is the Little Bytham entrance again.
  11. They're cutting it fine. Last year it was a good two or three weeks in advance of the show.
