LOL at Chrysler monger, clearly Darwinism isn't working.
Enjoyed watching a fat man in a mk3 "slammed" Polo tackling the local rough roads from the sluggish progress of my bicycle earlier - not sure how it really improved its handling, I think he was just trying to use its high-amplitude vibrations to give his female passenger a lady hardon.

Where can I do free vehicle enquiries online?

AS cycling blog... went for a "steep hill challenge" as part of a 37 mile round trip today, painful and got covered in insects, but the view from the top was quite rewarding:

Anyone seen one of these before http://dieselhead.co.uk/
Ford now has these or some variation as standard on its cars, still intrigued as to how it works. As an intelligent society we've come along way if a 50p sticker saying "diesel fuel only" isn't enough.

Sunday Times "In gear" magazine spesh letter of the week, in the cycling section:
"When I carry my bike in the back of my car, the chain invariably catches on the boot's fabric covering, leaving oily chain marks. Do you know of a simple solution?"
Err, put an old sheet/bit of carpet on the boot floor lining like 9/10 motorists do when carrying dirty loads, or to stop stains when dogging?

I've averaged 1500 calories a day since October. Today I snapped and bought sausage and chips, followed by a bag of Riesen and also a bunch of Refreshers.
Now I've got a digestive malaise which suggests I've made a colossal mistake. Gonna pay for this one later!
Fancy swapping metabolisms? I'm on a get fat fast diet, it's a nightmare and not working!

W T rubbery buggery F is going on here?
It's OJ Simpson... why the dickens you'd want to superimpose your car on that picture beggars belief

Over an hour of sawing from a stupidly inconvenient angle whilst trying not to damage the CV boot finally got this off
Stupid idiot amnesty: forgot to close the car door whilst push-manoeuvring it out of the garage... crash!

I've actually got a couple of books in the post* right now on peak oil and sustainable negative growth (weird concept to get your head around).
*impending doom has began early though with me - the collapse of civilisation has started with me thinking oh the mail's late, long bank holiday weekend, then Waterstones email me this morning "your order has been dispatched", two weeks after I sent it. Fucks sake!
the IMFAhh, the old friend. They'll bail you out, sure, but then for eternity impose draconian right wing economic policies on you for eternity (look at Chile, Argentina, soon the PIGS)
(most) non-commercial drivers still don't really have the right to moan about the fuel duty increase though - you made a concious choice to drive a car less efficient than your parents and to have a right foot glued to the floor. Buy a Fiat panda or something, drive slower and don't drive six miles to Spar to buy a sodding sandwich.

"we're going to cut everything because we've run out of money and might default"

!!POLITICAL WARNING!! Interesting graph on my pretentious homepage news website came up earlier, for all those who say we're so up shit creek it transpires that of all the world's advanced economies, only Sweden, Switzerland, the States and Norway are less likely to default on their national debts than we are:

Anyone got any ideas on how to undo one of these?

It's the hoseclip and yes it is about as accessible as the picture shows! I think it's a centre punch clamp so no worm screw , I can just about reach the mechanism from behind but can't work out how to remove it

You think getting rid of Scottish notes in England is bad? You should try spending Northern Irish money...
Or if you want to be REALLY adventurous, some of your up-the-creek Euros

etc ...
Are you using spareroom.co.uk? We did last year when someone in our house dropped out of Uni. Despite stipulating generally that all we wanted was a hard working student (like the rest of us) we somehow ended up with a single parent mong who within a month held me at knifepoint for asking him not to turn the heating to up 25 degrees "because his room is upstairs and it takes a while to heat up", never did any housework then said "yeah that needed cleaning really" when I/one of the girls tidied up, spent all day watching Dave then banged on about how much hard work his bizarre college BTEC or whatever was, rarely washed, was OCD about the dishwasher so never did his own washing up either, stayed up all night slamming doors and had some general health and safety complex where the extent of smalltalking would him be him saying "YOU KNOW LEAVING THE LIVING ROOM DOOR OPEN INVALIDATES THE HOME INSURANCE". Ironically we found a lovely spare room lodgery person on SR the year before and had a great time, so no real lesson learnt I guess.
