Went to "truckfest south" today at Newbury showground. Lots of brand new scanias and Volvos, but managed to grab a few snaps of the older more interesting stuff.

Right. Sadly today I had to work until after dark, so no outside shite pappage was forthcoming.
However, to not disappoint you lot completely, I found two Tatas for you:

Bangalore has some great small scale breweries. It's the birthplace of micro brewing in India. Had some great nights out, still got the number of a friendly auto driver in the area of the intercontinental if you need it

Ah, they've clearly improved it since I was there last. The fear of watching a loaded articulated concrete truck careering around a corner downhill will stay with me for sometime.

Ive eaten far worse in Europe than in India, I'm a big fan of the place.

Did you fly into pune? I usually do the road trip from Mumbai. Over some scary mountains where trucks drive with no lights at 10mph in the middle lane (mainly Ashok-Leyland).

Well strictly they only go on strike on a Friday when the weather's nice, or after lunch on Wednesday , because it's Thursday tomorrow and well, it'll be a shame to spoil the weekend by working.

The French do know how to strike though- it's obviously timed very well.

Some of th proposed changes to working law are quite draconian though- increase in hours without consultation, ability to reduce pay if necessary. Etc.,

Today I made the final payment on a business loan I took out FIFTEEN years ago.  A business that imploded because my health went down the toilet and my partner at the time was a massively abusive arsehole.  Now I'll be funelling those payments into my savings account.  I last had savings when I was 18 and my life has been such a mess since then it's taken until now, when I'm 34, to get back to the start again.  I feel good about today so let's hope this winning streak continues with the Renault jobs I'm doing in a bit.

I bought a cable to connect an mp3 to my Smax. Popped out the dash, but no space for the eBay connector. Popped to the local car audio shop where they said that the wires would need to be removed from the connector and inserted into the existing connector.
Could not find the diagram so put it all back together. This morning found the diagram so pulled the whole thing apart. Then found that the pins were already in use, seemed strange. Couldn't wire it up so put it all back together.
Went to find the security code from the glove box, what did I find? A factory wired in aux socket. I've only owned the car for four years...

Huzzah! Another thread for those who don't live here to slag off the city!  This will have an effect on a very small number of 'our sort' of motorists.  It is very unusual to see something Autoshite motoring about within the C Zone.

No, they'll probably choose to stay here for the employment and culture opportunities it provides as they have for 400 years+ especially as the vast majority of them have no need whatsoever to drive within this small area.

On a personal note this will only affect me if they decided at some future point to hold to a very strict definition of the historic class that allows for no modifications.  If that were to happen then it'd probably be a nice excuse to be on the look out for something older than our current cars, something just pre or post war, to do any central London motoring I might fancy.

As a genral rule I choose to drive through the zone affected (outside of C zone hours obvs) because it is nice checking the time on the Westminster clock, nod appreciation to the Cenotaph/Nelson and people watch on my way home from the dungeon.  I can ovoid it altogether if I go up past Victoria/Park Lane.  Only times we generally pay the C charge is on admission/discharge days for daughter's hospital stays when we get to park for free on some specific streets and it is more convenient - and a similar cost to - getting the tube.  This wouldn't change since our cars would be ULEZ exempt.

The biggest effect on the high polution in certain places (like Oxford Street) will be the conversion of buses to all hybrid/electric.

These things used to be everywhere when I was little.  This one looks like it's been stood in that hedge since I was little.  Cheap though (at the moment).

Surrey Police pulled this Bedford off the m25 earlier. 48% overweight with four people in three seats. Can't help but think if they'd washed it a little it might have made them less likely to be pulled.

This is Teddy the TK, I've had it about two years but have got the brakes off for a rebuild, I rebuilt the servo with a new seal kit, then had the m/cyl bored out and resleeved, fitted new front wheel cylinders/pipes/flexis, I'm hoping to get it back on the road soon if I get the time, I just need new rear cylinders and a silencer and I've got some good part worms to go on,just need some tubes.

It came without rear lights but my dad gave me these off his motorbike trailer and I think they look smart

Managed to finish the welding the other week, and it didn't look too bad. Then I got some paint on it, looks much worse now. Oh well, I can safely say I won't be winning any concourse soon.

Thought I should properly introduce myself. Over the last ten years I have been driving various potentially shite cars. Currently, I am just finishing off my drum brake 1975 2CV, which I have resprayed in the original beige .

interior wise, it's got brown vinyl seats and chocolate brown plastic everywhere.

Previous shite cars include a dyane and a Citroen c5 (as opposed to a Sinclair!). Currently trying to flog a Peugeot 407, whose replacement could be an über cheap Merc s320 (t reg, does that make it shite worthy?)
