  1. These are the actions of an actual lunatic. Bravo!
  2. Look for the corner of Ashley Road and The Downs. From here https://www.altrinchamheritage.com/?page_id=58 , Young Cheshire used to be at number 12. The building doesn't look identical I agree, but almost nothing in Altrincham is untouched.
  3. I would PM tech support ( @Slartibartfast?) but I figured with Current Forum Issues that he might have other priorities right now just trying to keep the forum afloat tbh

    Man Down

Awful news, lean on the support from those around you. Take care man.
  5. I've suddenly stopped receiving notifications about PMs - I thought I must have clicked something when trying to quieten down roffle messages, but I'm actually missing direct PMs as well, but I've definitely got the "receive email" option ticked for PMs. Also, they're not in spam. Anything I can do?
  6. After the Saab passed its MOT without cost, I decided to spend the money I'd already allocated to it anyway. On Tuesday it got new subframe bushes at the local Saab specialist. Friday, I picked up a second hand cat-back exhaust, and tied it in with a visit to Karl @ Noobtune for a remap. Having pondered it for a while, I was debating a postal service option, but I had the opportunity to meet up and very glad I did to be honest. Within seconds, he was able to point out a couple of collapsed vacuum hoses and a broken breather valve that I'd not spotted, so I sat on ebay ordering replacements whilst Karl did his magic with the laptop. The remap is superb, and will be even better once I've replaced the relevant hoses. Then Saturday I had a remarkably successful few hours exhaust fitting - it almost never goes this well. Old vs 'new' £20 well spent - cheers eBay!
  7. Fantastic looking thing, good work on getting it where you wanted it to be
  8. If I've read this right, you confirmed that you had an incorrect sensor, and (at the time) believed it to be the faulty one. Since then, you've discovered that the one you thought was broken was in fact fine, and the incorrect one was actually working - the 'correct' one was broken, and you've now swapped it with an duplicate. So the incorrect sensor is still in place?
  9. It's a lot more precise - I've only driven 8 miles or so in it since picking it up, and the lack of clunking noise is already making it a significantly more pleasant place to be, but the biggest difference in ride is obvious when coming to speed bumps - it's removed the midpoint 'wiggle' that used to happen as the shite bushes were reloading after the front wheels had cleared the bumps just as the rear wheels were hitting the bump. I don't know if the polybushing would be more noticeable if I'd had all 6 done, but the garage said they were absolutely fine, so I'm not arguing. I'm mostly excited that I've got Tech2 on the doorstep and everyone who works there drives massively Barried 95 estates, so share the enthusiasm.
  10. Farmed out a job on the Saab because although @rainagain had done a cracking job of his 95 subframe bushes, I really didn't fancy getting that amount of shit in my eye, levering on heavy subframes about 3" from my face. Shout out to RTJ Autos in Stockport - am thrilled to have found a mega local Saab specialist who aren't afraid of doing normal garage jobs. £150 to replace my rear most subframe bushes with polybush jobs, and scan to identify the NSR as the grumbly ABS sensor (likely dirty as it tested fine).
  11. Have bagged what I hope is an eBay bargain, warranting a return trip to Solihull tomorrow. Stupid Swedish cars.
  12. Christ man, that's some bad luck on a terrifying wagon. I've got nothing to add except words of encouragement, and jealousy for when it's up and running again.
  13. Fuck me, I thought it was just me! Had exactly the same issue on mine yesterday, and that's been serviced annually for 12 years by the same place. In the end, I had a massive sulk, mangled it off with an Irwin bolt extractor and after the oil change replaced it using some stilsons (yes I'm a fucking redneck deep down). Have sheepishly ordered a replacement sump plug today
  14. My 95 passed its MOT today, only advisory was for an exhaust blow. Really wish I'd been able to snag @The Moog and (now) @Barry Cade's mate's one tbh, it has the bits I need!
  15. Here are my (old) two. Both 2.5 V6, the blue one I owned for about a week. Bought it as a second chance offer on eBay, and the water pump sprang a leak within days. The black one was SUPER minty and I ran that for just over a year before selling it to fund my current Vitesse. I removed the crappy V6 badges and put a proper rear plate on it.
  16. Yep same here @Ghosty- and I want to see the new whips
  17. Good to see the CLK doing a good turn - I have to confess to really missing having a convertible these last few days
  18. Watching this with extreme interest as I think, post MOT, I'll be doing this job on mine - and like you, it'll be on ramps on the driveway. Good luck man
  19. Exactly as @AnnoyingPentium has said, really. I had the 3M kit kicking around from treating various annoying plastic-lensed Mercedes over the years, but the final step polishing compound had run out so I ordered a similar Holts-branded kit. A few discs, some microfibre cloths and the drill attachment are all included in both kits. The sanding discs in the 3M kit were significantly better than the wet+dry from the Holts kit, as was the polish, but the UV protective sealant in the Holts stuff (which also gave the final finish) seems really good at finalising the job, and is essential for protecting the newly exposed surface. First time took me nearly half an hour per light, but did the Saab in under 40 mins in total tonight. You soon learn the technique, the number of cloths, spray bottles etc you need.
  20. Getting daylight late into the evening is such a balm for the soul. Yellowing headlights on the 95 swiftly despatched in under 40 mins with a drill and some 3M, plus a UV sealant. Before After
  21. Exactly. And some supermodels are just too beautiful, right?
