The offer is probably quite a realistic one.  I've no idea why people think carting away the scrap will be a chore for the insurance company.  It has become an important and lucrative income stream with none-claiming parties actually paying for the residual.  The categories have been a mess for a long time, and being a long-term buyer from salvage auctions (currently retired) what was genuine salvage that needed considerable fixing, now is a jokeathon with examples carrying a C cat only needing a mirror and an indicator to put right and cat Ds often being mangled wrecks looking at bean tin oblivion.
On a hopefully objective level, I wish everyone would put claims through their own insurance, not onwardly referred to a, "claims agency/specialist" and get them to do what they were paid upfront in premiums to do and get rid of the extra tier of parasites that have evolved.

£2995 for a low mileage, non-fucked one of these with 12 months MOT doesn't sound too silly at all.  Celebrity* owner too.

    Verdict: would.

When I worked for the LR magazine, I was doing 80 miles a day in it, so for mega MPGz and veg-biodiesel-compatibility I fitted a Perkins Prima from a Montego. Took extreme pleasure parking it next to Evo's test cars and filling the car park with veggy smoke.
It's now back to completely standard and after years of fucking around "improving" stuff on other landies I'm kinda on a mission to prove that you don't actually NEED to do anything, hence this is still on points (dizzy and fuel pump) and a dynamo. I did change to negative earth though when the perkins went in.

Done a thousand miles in this now, I've enjoyed every one of them! MOT has a few weeks left to run, then the fettling begins. Both rear wheel arches need repairing, and the outer sills are more than likely getting replaced. I'm not looking forward to removing all the alloy trim pieces, the roof gutter ones especially! A little paranoid about ruining shiny stuff seemingly made from unobtainium.

Scruff just has me beaten, as my 1953 Austin Somerset is my everyday user that I go to work in more than any other car. I do about the same miles as him, in the old car friendly climate of the South of England. Having said that, I did manage to drown the electrics coming home from work on Thursday when I hit a flash flood Managed to dry off the plugs and leads using a rag and I was on my way again. Old cars are GR8.

I used to do 70 miles a day in my 1955 Standard Eight (top speed 55mph, crossplies etc) but then I moved offices and my commute went down to 50 miles a day, so I got a 90s turbo diesel instead
