  1. The Magnette uses a boot light moulded with the Austin Rover logo for extra heritage.
  2. I enjoyed FOTU in 2022 but didn't enjoy all the "characters" going about talking shite into their vlogging cameras to an audience of 12.
  3. In one of the ARonline MG6 minicab articles the owner was complaining about it needing headlight bulbs regularly and it being a time consuming bumper off job. Not to put off anyone who wants to buy this piece of Chinese class.
  4. When it is very cold it is also very dry, it doesn't get as cold as -38°c in the UK but I remember several winters of sub -20°c temps in the Highlands. Would take that over 3°c, blowing a gale and sleeting.
  5. Apparently so. Choice of that MG6 engine and a 2.5 diesel. The current Isuzu 4x4 pickup uses a 1.9 diesel and some of its competitors use 2.0 diesels.
  6. Is that because it helps to winterise diesel fuel?
  7. Ladies and gentlemen, we got him. http://en.yunneidongli.com/product/15169.htm Leopard CT7 1.9 is an engine buddy.
  8. The custard sounds like emulsion from water contamination.
  9. The hydraulic oil I got was from dockyard cranes, super clean, much like new hydraulic oil.
  10. Used hydraulic oil is an excellent alternative fuel. When I've mixed waste engine oil and veg it has turned to jelly.
  11. Fuel for 0-50p a litre instead of whatever it is at the pumps. Smug satisfaction as well.
  12. Even ancient commercial diesel engines can be direct injection, sometimes without glow plugs so cold starting on veg would be troublesome. Hard starting and idling can lead to excess fuel making its way down the cylinder walls to the sump, veg & engine oil turns into a tacky and sticky substance. Basically any diesel will run on veg with a careful conversion though, usually a twin tank setup with a small diesel tank for cold starts, switching to veg when the engine is to temperature and purging the system with diesel again at the end of the journey or shift. An Invacar would go well with a little Kubota diesel I reckon.
  13. I am too clumsy to deal with neurotoxic chemicals & heat in a garden shed. You could thin the veg down with a strong solvent blend, petrol works well or Kerosene if you have access to it. Even well made bio doesn't work well with DPFs.
  14. https://www.aronline.co.uk/opinion/blog-200k-mg6-taxicab/ 200k in an LPG MG6
  15. Very informative. Your setup looks neat. My setup is very simple, settle in big barrels and pump out the clean oil on top, filter via bag filters into a water butt and into the fuel tank. It isn't very efficient and can be messy. The oil I collect is pretty clean as used oil goes, it is from a chain of pubs, they seem to change their oil regularly. It is soya oil, it starts to solidify at 10°c. I add about 10% petrol at this time of year to help it to settle, otherwise it would stay cloudy/slushy.
  16. There might be some confusion as MG Rover did trial fit Fiat JTD engines to Rover 75 prototypes, maybe a stopgap as they worked on their own common rail G series which ended up in India after the collapse. This diesel is definitely a Chinese effort and seems to have been available for just a few years in the MG6 in limited markets, maybe UK and Thailand alone. Good luck.
