They were quite a few (W202, W203, W211 and ML) used round here by Lothian and Borders for traffic patrol in the late 90s early 2000s. There were also a few A-Class patrol cars too. Then in the 2000s Mercedes totally pulled out of the police market.

Those Tipo Saloons were an official Fiat offering and not just Arnie Shark, they only came in low spec 1.4 form (I like a saloon so could have been interested, but for that). They seemed to be getting knocked out for £9,995 pre-reg right from the off. So whilst they were available across the dealership network, I would not be shocked if they were unsold cars from Ireland or Cyprus or wherever.
