    Update / tinkering.

While hitting the interior with a hoover a while back i noticed some redundant vacuum pipe dangling behind the centre console.

At first i thought it was for a once fitted boost gauge but there were two pipes and one of them went back through the bulkhead and connected to nothing so not for a boost gauge so it must be for one of these...

A cheap 'n' cheerful manual boost controller no less.

It was a doddle to fit too and blue silicon vac pipe will make it faster too.

T piece bit goes on the Wastegate pipe.

And the adjuster goes wherever you want.

It was £10 and works perfectly, the turbo spins up much quicker and stronger but if i vent the turbo actuator too far i hit the ecu's in built fuel cut and i kangaroo down the street.

On the very busy Daihatsu performance facebook page there is a diagram for making a cheat box to fool the ecu into moving the fuel cut from 0.5 to 0.7 bar.

I think thats the next step.

The little Daihatsu has done a tank of fuel now at around 38mpg i am happy with that and continues to scare me,not with its acceleration but with its brakes and wayward cornering antics.
I do seem to be creating an impressive amount of brake dust though.

The auto box so I'm told is useless because it's made of chocolate and wont last till Easter so i thought it best i gave it its first fluid change.

It holds over 5 litre of dexron 3 but you can only get half of it out so i did one change today and will go again after 50 miles or so.

On the stick this stuff looked clean honest..

    That's better.

I gave it a good tonking around the new Amazon / Ikea warehouses that have popped up on the peninsula and it don't seem any slicker but maybe it is a bit quieter.

Well i was 100% certain that i had never ever unknowingly bought any as my mantra was if you can't afford it outright then save up for it.

So i was on Martin Lewis's money saving site the other day and there is a simple template letter to fill in and email to your bank to check for it.

I sent emails to the three places i have banked with and blow me i got a letter back today from one of them offering me £5784.

Well fuck me sideways this kind of thing never happens to me.

So is mortgage ppi paying out ?

In '87  I had to lie through my teeth to get a mortgage, and i'm rubbish at lying .I was self employed with no accounts ....
At the interview , I said i was earning far more than i did,   and could easily pay...and had a job as a Surveyor, for some fictitious company ,  backed up by a false letter from an insurance salesman who had just sold me the endowment part of the mortgage...
And the Woolwich manager suggested i bought this extra Mortgage PPI for only £21 a month... Obviously i agreed , as I needed to be out of this interview as quick as possible... I was in a sweat like ...So for the next 26 years I paid London and Edinburgh 21 quid a month !! And i don't think they would have paid out , on my bullshit story ... And on top of that,  the Endowment only made half the money I was told i'd get to pay off the loan... Anyway it's all paid now...I swallowed that ,  but it does irritate me .. Not one for letters, complaining  or paperwork,  me...

A  pension the same insurance man sold me at the same time, is now projected to be worth £3 a week when i   retire in 8 years !!!!   Fuck !!
