I leave my Mrs to sell stuff, being Greek she's got a 0.000001amp fuse fitted and the slightest fuckin about from these arse holes sees that blow instantly  and them getting both barrels.

Some years ago she used to have a regular stall in a market, mainly good label second hand womens clothes, nice stuff not tat, it wouldn't be the first time she's lit a match and set fire to an item in front of their very eyes when some twat has pissed her off enough offering a desultory quid or so for a designer label item worth £30 second hand.

You should hear her on the phone when the usual suspects come the old acid about car buying, how that they can get a newer higher spec lower mileage better condition model for £1000 less, she fuckin near explodes, its hilarious.

Should hire her out on a consultancy basis.

I'd rather have an OK job for 700 quid than pay 2 - 3 grand+! I know it's fair to say good money for a good job but F*CK THAT! I've seen rattle can jobs that are a near comparison to top spec finishes - OK the difference is noticable close up and rattle cans aren't equal to spray guns, but I honestly think you're paying for 95% decent job for big money as opposed to 90% for home done job, and it's surely about the end product, and not the technique for doing it?
I'm also not saying we mustn't pay these people money as it does take time and is a bit of a dirty job, but I'd rather not.

Buy a decent compressor that works (and doesn't spray variably like mine did), and some cellulose paint (two pack is great but it's a pain in the arse) and get the mixture right (there's no hardener to make the paint run).
I used two pack on the whole sides of this (doors included) and it cost me 30 quid. I just spent ages on preparation (which was quite enjoyable on a nice warm summer week) rubbing the odd drip mark out. It's a myth it'll be covered in twigs and flies as I had one fly land on it in two weeks.

If I was a lawyer (I'm not) then my professional advice would, reluctantly, be to replace airbags as the manufacturer recommends. But I would point out that I personally believe the risk is small enough to be negligible.

If you dont need show quality finish then shop around & you'll find someone who will do the work for sensible money. I had my talbot motorhome cab done last month - work was to have the rot cut out of a pillars & new metal welded in, front arches cut out & replaced, scuttle panel cut out & replaced, drivers sill repaired, windscreen surround replaced, slam panel rot cut out & replaced, delaminated windscreen replaced, cab zinc primered & resprayed, arches & cab underseal stripped & replaced. Final bill was just under £1100 all in. Yes, theres a bit of overspray in the engine bay & some orange peel here & there but for that money I'm not complaining.....

Okay so still thinking about my precious spanner I thought about taking the driver's seat out tomorrow just so I can have a proper look underneath. Let's have a search of the Rover forum to see how easy the seats are to remove.

I never understand this either. I have Sky too.

I watch BBC TV, read their websites and listen to their radio stations pretty much every day. I think I get value for money.
I do not like everything they do, but they generally make a pretty decent fist of things

Also I can't stand bloody adverts or the general piss-poor short-termism of ITV. Imagine a world where show like 'Splash' were pretty much unavoidable. Their sports coverage is absolutely terrible too.

    BBC FTW.

Good things come in threes it seems - got a cheque from the insurance company to cover the break-in 3 months ago, and only £200 short so that kind of feels like a result when you get the money all in one go.

Number two, an indicator arrived in the post today (thanks catsinthewelder!) so will be driving the BX tomorrow Not moved since November...what could possibly go wrong with old French hydraulics?

And lastly, I bought a new battery for my bike and tried to start it for the first time in 3 years. I drained the old fuel from the float bowls last night, to give it a fighting chance and was absolutely amazed that it fired up so easily!

I think that the park of gently dilapidating jalopes is a pretty good (if minor) piece of art.  Self indulgent, yes, but the display manages to say something about the stuff that we make and the effects of time.  They are only cars, people, and not unique, albeit rare.    The dude paid for them, I suppose, and didn't rob them off someone.

I drove the Amazon today for the first time in four years.

It's filthy, the interior's still a mess, parts are missing, there's no heater and it's slowly losing oil from the not-long-fitted rear crank oil seal. The brakes have yet to bed in so I did two low-speed laps of the industrial estate after letting it warm up. This netted me a ferocious bollocking from the engine builder who wanted to get it back in his workshop to fit the new rear crank oil seal (which Brookhouse replaced for free). I'm hoping he can work out why it let go so quickly.

I hope the crank hasn't got too much float in it, otherwise it's game over until I can save up for the work. The bonnet latch played merry hell this afternoon and the horn is a shambolic lash-up to get it through the MOT, but it'll do until I get it home. A tame VOC carburettor bod is coming look at the Zenith next week to see if it'll behave. Failing that, the carb place in Manchester have agreed to look at it again.

Managed to get a mega-low unlimited mileage insurance premium on it from Peter James. Garaged at my gran's with FATHA_DUGONG on the policy, it came out at £88.92 - so some good news at last.

Buy about 20 of them, or more, using separate accounts (maybe the AS massive could help with that) and neg him for every single one, pointing out on each one that "there's another seller who does them 10 times better for only a quid extra".

Then go round his house with a bag of them and rearrange his face with it.

One is lead to believe that your newly acquired conveyance benefits from drive to the rearmost wheels and therefore i can conclude most definitely that this vehicle would offer an excellent opportunity for your driver to partake on your behalf in what I believe is commonly referred to as 'driftingyo' or similar.
