Traffic chaos at Hadlow, workmen have just shut the A26 completely to dig the road up... without warning the bus companies or creating diversion for artics.
It is entertaining watching the lost art of the three point turn outside our house as cars turn around. A MINI did it in seven and is holding the record.

I was just idly staring out of the window when this 19 plate Range Rover pulled up in our little cul de sac - the driver got out, reached into the back seat and grabbed his pizza delivery bag  surely there can’t be much of his income left running one of these ?

Took the Rover out for a supply run earlier (an essential journey... perhaps somewhat offset by the non essential journey I made in the MX-5 to the unit where the Rover is kept!), first proper drive since I adjusted the clutch last week. Feels so, SO much better to drive!
And when I was filling it up, I got my first "don't see many of those now!" comment.

Driving through a nearby village this afternoon I spotted my old Movano parked up at the side of the road.  I thought that was long dead given that when I sold it it was out of MOT and the engine was on its last legs, but someone must have fixed it because I checked online when I got home and it's still T&T'd.

Looks nice, not the best colour but the interior makes up for it:

Love it or hate it, you have to admire the work that’s gone into it.
My favourite detail is the modern bonded rear screen, never seen that done on an old car before.

Slowly but surely. We now have the first set of Northamptonshire arches!
They were completed yesterday for the cowshed. The stacks of grey blocks inside the archways are there to hold up the frames for the wooden formers. The blocks, frames and formers will be stay in place for another week or so to let the lime mortar cure enough. The brickwork on the cowshed front wall will go up to the height of the bricks on the left hand side pillar. This will be the height of the roof eaves for the cowshed. The eaves on the main barn will be a bit higher.

I made the wooden formers in two halves, so they slot together in the middle, one nested inside the other. This lets them be adjusted slightly as needed, to accommodate any variation in archway width away from the intended 10', without losing the symmetry of the arch.

I love the way they did a ten bob update of the outside cosmetics but did absolutely nothing to the interior so it's exactly like a Rialto. If Autoshite was a car manufacturer it would be this halfarsed.

Wow those were cherished inside! Does the empty milk carton indicate overheating?
When it opens again and you can take one to France go over - they are fascinated by them there - there are actually French people who import them to use - I have even met one at a car show!
(On the the other hand there is some bloke in France saying of the UK - Citroen 2CV they are fascinated by them - there are actually English people who import them to use!)
Interesting cars - I look forward to following your adventures.

So, i always wanted a 3 wheeler as to me they are everything that's wrong with a car and should never have existed - ok so ive opened with a really strong statement there but bare with me. 2 years ago i bought the green whistle as it became known, it never ra n right and always seemed to break without 2 miles of my house. I royally lost the love for it as it clearly hated me so the one day it ran right i promptly sold it, picture of it below. At the same time i bought the green machine, my friend bought an equal terrible blue one. We long dreamed of doing long road trips of misery and really finding out what its like to nearly die on every corner. Sadly his didn't run well either so that was also promptly sold just after i sold mine.

Recently Tom and i have been thinking about the Reliants we never gave a fair chance too and started to feel like we never gave this brand a true chance. Fast forward to 4th November, Tom and i were innocently browsing ebay when he came across a pair of Robins (nope not Peter and Paul but that is what these are now called!) He automatically claimed the blue one on the grounds its mot'd and to took the white one on the grounds it was cheaper....yes im that tight!

I guess this leads me onto what are we going to do with these....i really do not know!!! First step will be to get mine MOT'd but im quite looking forward to the journey and lets hope it doesnt all end in tears again!!!

If anyone also has a love for life at 3/4 full please feel free to contact me!

I'm not laughing. but my inexcusable, if perhaps explainable, inattention and my dear old car's unfailing ability to fuck up might give you a giggle. The BX went to the garage this morning because it had been making a hideous rumbling noise (from the front, or so I thought) which sounded like the mother of all wheel bearings about to explode. I got a phone call early this afternoon:

"There's nothing wrong with the wheel bearings, the noise was one of the rear wheels that had worked loose. We sorted that, but then we had to push it off the ramp because it wouldn't start. The battery's obviously new, so we cleaned all the earths and checked all the connections, but nothing."
"Ah, sorry 'bout that... it does that occasionally. If you waggle the key a bit then it starts fine"
"Riiiiiight, sounds like the brushes are going. Seeing as it's here, and there's nothing wrong with it, d'you want me to put a new starter on it?"
    "Er, yes please"

I'd had my first flu jab this afternoon and, feeling like shit, retired to the sofa for a nap. An hour later, and refreshed, I went to put the bin out and discovered my BX, back in its usual space as if it had never been away. Keys pushed through the letterbox.  They are good, bless them.

14 Logical reasons why Some guys Have Dogs And not Wives:

    1. The later you are, the more excited your dog is to see you.

    2. Dogs don't notice if you call them by another dog's name.

    3. Dogs like it if you leave lots of things on the floor.

    4. Dogs' parents never visit.

    5. Dogs agree that you have to raise your voice to get your point across.

    6. You never have to wait for a dog; they're ready to go, instantly, 24 hours a day.

    7. Dogs find you amusing when you're pissed.

    8. Dogs like to go hunting and fishing.

    9. Dogs won't wake you up at night to ask: "If I died, would you get another dog?"

    10. If a dog has babies, you can put an ad in the paper and sell 'em.

    11. When you drop a silent one, dogs don't run around frantically with room spray.

    12. Dogs never tell you to stop scratching your balls. Instead, they sit pondering why you don't lick 'em.

    13. If a dog smells another dog on you, it won't kick you in the crotch; it just finds it interesting.
    And last, but not least:

    14. If a dog runs off and leaves you, it won't take half your stuff.

    To verify these statements:
Lock your wife and your dog in the garage for an hour.
Then open the door, and observe who's happy to see you!

/\ That reminds me of the time fit bird at work mentioned that she'd parked her Bini Cooper outside Tesco and come back to find a proper Mini Cooper parked next to it.  "I almost took a photo but then I decided not to because that would make me as sad as you."
