keef reacted to flat4alfa in Official shitely Thread
Me and a friend rescued this Magnette a while back.
He's got it up and running, and after a bit of a hunt, a pair of front wings have been found up in Nottinghamshire. Any chance of a shitely, moving them southwards?
Cheers

XON249T was mine its still around just in a garage in Lincolnshire.. It was originally built as a LHD Swedish spec car but as it was a cancelled British Diplomatic order.. so it was converted at the factory to RHD but retained the LHD wipers and was sold to a BL employee

Go on then have a few Maxi pictures just to prove I am a balanced individual not totally obsessed with Citroen Visas!

That was mine, it was little old moi that recovered it and got it back up on the road. One drive of it a year later and the Chamberpot was smitten
Oldest 1750 left - did a DVLA request back then and was confirmed.

SVJ (known as Sylvia) belongs to Brendan Dooley, who seems to be on a mission to own every Maxi in Ireland. I think he's got about 10 of them!

Wish I'd done this for some of the BL chod I've seen.
Here's one I bought a couple of years back. :-

What do you mean you don't see them anymore? I see a Maxi all the time! YDU 590S, aka the HubNut Maxi, is a good place to start since I own the thing!

SVJ142H - Nicely scruffy 1500, first registered in July 1970, snapped at Kilbroney in Northern Ireland back in June 2017.
Still seems to be in use, having passed an MOT just a few weeks ago.
XON249T - March 1979 registered 1750HL, snapped at the NEC back in November 2007 - but DVLA indicates that the tax ran out in October 2012, the MOT expired in April 2013, and there's no SORN in place or export marker... which isn't a good sign.

I'm with you 100% there. I just have a steering wheel from a bus and a plank of wood with some switches and dials thrown at it but the cable-change dash was much nicer and very Cortina-like with its hooded dials and 3-spoke wheel. A little-known fact is that the cable-change Maxi dash is actually mostly symmetrical for cheaper LHD conversion but not as obviously as the SD1 - the glovebox and instrument binnacle are the same shape.

A couple years ago I sold my 1969 Maxi to a member of the Austin Maxi Club after it had been sitting in a council lock up for nearly 20 years. The colour is Porcelain Green.

I have owned 4 other Maxis in the past, when I find photos I'll post them too.

Following on from the sucess of my Wolseley Six thread (now up to 11 pages), I thought i'd start one on the Austin Maxi.
Whilst nowhere near as rare as the Six, Maxi numbers have been dropping and now you just don't see them anymore.
One has just been sold on Ebay, so probably appears elsewhere, but let's start with that one :-
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUSTIN-MAXI-1750-SPARES-REPAIR-BANGER-RACING/183725290571 - sold for £560, which is about double what these have gone for instance the past.
