Are those Tipo saloons RHD Irish Republic cars, dragged over by Arnie Shark like he did the Nissan Tiida for a while around ten years ago?

Anyone for a Shanghai SH7181? It never made it into production but in 1989 Shanghai Auto and the Shanghai Institute of Tractor Research decided to try and build China's first ever MPV to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the PRC. Obviously it was VW Santana based.

Close but no cigar, with the 7 series/A8 comment, these are based on a W220 S class.
The earlier one looked very similar to a first generation Lexus LS, and was based on the W124.

They are fairly rare now. They have reduced boot space because of the rear axle changes. Command a bit of a price premium over most MK1s.

I know there used to be quite convoluted tiers of German driving licences (who would have guessed, eh?) and you could drive a vehicle of 250cc or less on an 'easy' licence which was really designed for people riding small motorbikes and mopeds rather than cars - I know this was the case in the '50s but possibly it carried on into the '70s. Otherwise, WHAT IS POINT?

Wonder how many of the SORN Saxos are in use in motorsport. Single venue rallies and circuit racing won't require a car to be taxed so a fair few are probably SORNd.

I think you’ve missed the point with the Samara. It was built like a bag of shite because the people at the factory didn’t care, at the time there wasn’t much in the way of competition. If it was built like crap what difference would it have made, they’d have been paid anyway so. That’s communism for you.

A chap I know had a P38 which went very well, except that the controller for the air suspension had gone fubar. Rather than get it fixed, he managed to break out the connections to each corner (i.e. the electrical connections that tell each bag to inflate/deflate) with a ribbon cable, which looked like it had come from a PC, trailing out of the dash. This entered a 2-gang domestic electrical back box and face plate (white plastic) which sat atop the dash and sometimes fell off when you went round a corner. Four rocker switches were hacked into it to make each corner go up/down.
This man also did the sound system for Live Aid ?

I brought a car back from Jersey by insuring it on the VIN and driving straight* to the MOT station 200 miles from Southampton.
I did have to pay import duty on it to register it in the UK, after NOVA blah blah … import duty wasn't much, just more paperwork.
Can I be last in line for this please. I want it, but need to be sensible, so if all else fails I'd like it … if that makes sense

The thing with the Minor is it was lucky &  got "classic" status relatively soon. Lots of people loved it & were affectionate to it. Many specialists appeared to restore & care for it (body parts were being re-manufactured etc)so that's bound to have helped survival. It's also a far simpler car than a Maxi so less to go wrong (conventional suspension & not FWD), bolt on wings etc  & that too helps a car in old age.
A great many cars & the Maxi is one, were just old cars for a long time & that's a dangerous period for a car as lots of folk won't spend money on them & just run them until something needs doing & then scrap them.

Actually, if I had 750 quid spare, and the space to reassemble it, I'd be bidding on that. Far worse than that has gone for a higher price, and being a Kingston upon Thames one adds to the value. Seriously isn't over priced in my view.

If the engine is a 9.35:1 efi then its 160bhp/205lb/ft and aslong as the exhaust isnt restricted too badly then it should still be those figures given the rebuild
91bhp would be a 8.13:1 twin carb engine with carb restrictions only fitted to LR101s
That kit looks to be a custom hub with proprietary disc and c5 caliper , I imagine any brake disc will have to be mounted on the rear face rather than sandwich between the hub and wheel

Not so unusual. Spaceship Civics built in Swindon were also exported to Japan.
Back in the Bluebird days I'm fairly sure they built the 3-door version in Washington that was never sold in the UK. Maybe the 16v Grand Prix we didn't get, too?
Also Toyota Japan has also always maintained separate dealer lines, or use to at least (I don't really follow anymore).

And change the taxation class too. For example, a VW T5 Shuttle is a people carrier and an M Category Paasenger Vehicle so may travel at passenger car speeds. The T5 van must adhere to the lower limits for goods carrying vehicles, but is essentially the same except for the seats.

The day-van users need to be wary of taxation class, loads of threads on their forums.

Vehicle category, on the V5, is N1 which is a light commercial vehicle and the gross weight is 2.2 tonnes. Therefore the lower speed limits apply, thankfully (because n/a DW8 engine).

That 1100 is frankly amazing and all those disparate parts have no right working together so smoothly.  Even if it's made of 95% pure Isopon, that's still a serious bit of craft to get that looking  as unshonky as it does.

To be a motorcaravan the whole of the interior has to be made over to living space.
The minute you add an area to carry a car for example, it becomes an HGV., same as all the horse boxes with split living accommodation and horse carrying area.
Many old buses converted to car carriers and living accommodation are been wrongly driven as motor caravans.

There is a slightly less steep way of getting to the end of the railings section, which is the steepest part, when I worked in the city centre  I used to take the less steep route and come down the steep part which can be very slippery when wet virtually every day.  I also had a couple of projects on the go at the top of the hill and outside the castle which meant walking up there every day for a couple of months, sometimes more than once a day. I really enjoyed* it.
Hope you enjoyed the walk, I'm sure a couple more G & T's will help the recovery.
Good luck with the collecshun in the morning.
