  1. I can't believe this isn't a piss take - but there's probably hundreds of videos of these young people going round finding wheel trims. The scrap yard video is amazing, they sound exactly like me and my mates when we found a massive stash of jazz mags in Storeton Woods. šŸ˜† It's nice to see some kids are into more than instagram and that there tickety tock.
  2. At least he's coming to collect though. I made 70 quid on this, not including about Ā£200 on parts/labour and a Ā£50 MOT, so he can not be doing the enthusiast thing before he drives it away.
  3. I only ever buy cars that arenā€™t listed with a price on Facebook groups, with just ā€˜make me an offerā€™ as a guide. I -always- offer the max price itā€™ll be worth in ten years, as itā€™s a future investment. I never haggle with the seller as he requested ā€˜no thymewaisting bellendsā€™, and with a guaranteed concrete promise he will ā€˜just put it back in the garage for another five yearsā€™, so I donā€™t want to miss out.
  4. Ask seller if he knows where the OBD port is. If he knows exactly where it is and answers immediately, assume heā€™s cleared error codes before youā€™ve arrived. Ask if the EML light comes on. This will add extra excitement when it does eventually come on after two minutes of starting and seller can say ā€˜itā€™s never done that beforeā€™.
  5. Iā€™ve got my AX on eBay and itā€™s nearly reached what I paid for it, Iā€™ve had a lot of questions about specific things, I really hope I donā€™t get an ā€˜enthusiastā€™ winning it, as a club member ā€˜enthusiastā€™ tends to be a massive pain in the arse with all the ā€˜Iā€™ve got three of these, theyā€™re all maintained etcā€™ stuff Iā€™m not bothered about. It was a 99p start.
  6. This guy probably - he's got in another RX7 FB in sorry condition (for Ā£4k). https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225149148084 I'd love one of these (in good condition).
  7. For all the 'make us an offer' facebook group posts
  8. How does anyone clutching a carving knife not instantly lunge it directly into handbag faced, two bit, professional food warmer Gordon Ramseyā€™s map-of-Colorado-esque forehead while he is dishing out his criticisms, I donā€™t care if heā€™s ā€˜niceā€™ in real life, fuck him and his leathery, prematurely aged mummified casing. The fact heā€™s been doing the same thing for 15+ years, bothers me.
  9. I've done about 200 miles in this and it's been great. I took it to Southport and back (100 miles) and it was fine. There's a random clacking that sometimes happens when it's coming to a stop with the clutch down, it never does it in drive. I can feel it through the transfer box lever more, but no idea where it's coming from really. It stopped when I engaged locking hubs on the front wheels and when for a blast down Thurstaton beach on Friday - but eventually comes back. It doesn't sound terminal and I thought it was the spring on the handbrake mechanism catching on something on the TB?
  10. Those MGF's have aged really well, they look so much better now you don't see many of them.
  11. I've had "brake pipes covered in grease" in the past.
  12. I must have put at least 100 cars in for MOTs and in my entire life have had -one- that has gone through, a late 80's Nissan 300ZX with rough bodywork. I put my AX through the other day and it only had one fail in it's past and it failed. Is it just me being unlucky or is it a given that pretty much all cars over 10 years old fail MOTs?
  13. "Good ones are well over Ā£50k and are still not selling for that much" surely?
  14. Can anyone tell me what this is - I assume Mazda 626 maybe or some kind of Mistubishi, Australian Japanese import rebadge or something?

  18. I did hone the cylinder walls with one of those drill honers, I got a piston ring compressor from Halfords for Ā£5 as they obivously don't get people buying them anymore. It took about half an hour to get everything back together again, engine started fine and has ran up to temperature without any blueish smoke from the exhaust so I guess the rings fixed that. It has never ran higher than about 1/5 up the temp gauge, so I had it going with the fan taken off and thermostate out and got it properly hot to clear all the crud from the coolant system - popped a few dishwasher tablets in there and managed to get a lot out, and after flushing again have it sitting over night full of white vinegar. Will check later to see if it's dissolved the aluminium head. If it doesn't do anything I'll try central heating gunk flush stuff. I didn't like the look of the new head gasket so will have to take the head off again at some point and put a new one on.
  19. Only joking, I've never done a piston out job before, but this was really easy. I was told to be careful putting new rings in as they're really fragile with no give in them. My first go removing the old rings and I crack one - this was piston that was letting oil past the control rings: I got the others out and everything was done in about 20 minutes and ready to put back in: Should have got a ring compressor really, but can wait until tomorrow until I borrow one. I was looking at the bearing shells, and they look OK to me - no doubt I'll be doing them in two months when they fail, bah.
  20. I pulled my finger out and started to take the engine apart again! I now see why it's not running properly: Can't beleive it!
  21. Is that skunk/marijuana do you think? Yes, it's a 2000 era 3-series. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1086294862018436/
