Took a delivery at lunchtime. I'm in the good books now as Ms Keymaster always wanted one.

Was a neighbours car. Has been sitting for about 6 months. The roof needs cleaning and sealing and the car in general wants a thorough valeting.

GOOD: History file mentions remap. Heated Seats.

BAD: Keeps indicating left. Don't mention the OMGTAXBAND.

An enjoyable few weekends are ahead getting it cleaned up and ready for the 3 sunny days we might get this year.

Anyone want a leggy CLK 220 CDI?

Evicted the Zed from the garage today,  and then washed her to remove the accumulated dust, she's overwintered there as she is soluble in Scottish winters ❄️☃️
The Spitfire then took pride of place in the garage, two new rear shock absorbers were fitted with not too much of a struggle - a block of wood and a large hammer helped things along.
Next things to do to the spitfire, are to adjust the handbrake and then see if I can jury-rig the viscous fan coupling, 'cos it's getting increasingly noisy these days.
After that, maybe some cosmetic improvements to some rough areas of paint.
I'm only five months into retirement now, so having time to do things, is still very much a novelty to me.

    ok then, just once more
i spotted an ad on marketplace for a set of mk2 standard suspension and being as i was passing on my way to edinburgh at the weekend, it seemed rude not to.
the current suspension is just that little bit harsh

    so has been replaced with

i got a fright when i dropped it down off the jacks
front arch gap - blimey 😦

rear arch gap - holy fuck 😦

hoping it will settle down, i took it for a quick drive
last week on the old ebay coil overs

and now as mazda intended it to look

thankfully it has settled down nicely, and the ride comfort is so much better - suits the autobox perfectly
two very different cars - but which one would you choose ?

sadly i can’t keep them both

And we have 2 winners! Congrats to @SEATMad for being first.
This is the baby. It's an executive auto, pampered by the original owner and the current owner. Really looking forward to getting her. Various forms of transport will be involved including a fellow shiter starting proceedings.
    Collection starts at 8.40am tomorrow.

Yeah apologies, my phone decided to go from 18% to 1% battery in a few seconds when I was on the train.  I decided to leave it alone rather than try and use it to post here.  The joys of running an old smart phone.
I'm home, exactly 100 miles later.  My back feels better now than when I got into the car at 5:15, the seats much have some medicinal properties in them or something!
I averaged 43.7mpg which is very respectable I think.  I certainly didn't go on an economy run, although the A3 was slow when the rain really came down.  The car was really sublime, felt very wafty but made good noises when pushed.  I was very fortunate not have have to use the hand/footbrake at all on the way home.  I wanted some time away from traffic to work out how to use it.  It's more the scrambling for the foot pedal to apply it than the hand lever to release it that I'll need to get used to.  It all seems very pleasant and works incredibly well.  I needed a good work hack in my life again (I really miss my Volvo from two years ago) and this really fits the gap.
In all, a great day.  Despite the weather.
Thanks again to @Stanky, top buyer 42/10 - would by from again, for making the process smooth and for the lift from the station in the new steed.

Well... that was an experience! I attempted to update my email address some time ago and my account was rendered useless. Unable to sign in meant I couldn't do anything, I couldn't even contact anyone to raise the issue. I attempted several ways to get it going again, even re-signing up, but I was unable to validate my email address, or several others, so I gave up trying... in fact, gave a lot of the internet a rest for a bit.
It's no ones fault, there's a bug in a system somewhere where my outlook email will not display the validation screen properly. Still, yesterday I attempted a new sign up and here we are!
I've just had a flick back and seen where we got up to... hells bells, there's some work to do! Rest assured, without giving anything away, the car is in one piece again (and recently broken again 👍 ) and I'll start sticking bits up like nothing ever happened!
