A pair of new rear Tyres for the 200TE today.
The ones on the car were not quite worn out but we did not like the cracking between the treads.

    Poo!
We had a problem with a blocked drain under the public road to our septic tank the other side and the last manhole is under our garage floor. Parked over the cover was our Peugeot 504 Cabriolet that lost a wheel then failed to start, which had not been touched since September.
The 504 started easily and drove in and out of the garage with 2 wheel nuts without a problem. I remember the last owner telling me the 504 would cut out when hot and not restart until it had cooled down properly. The last owner worked on the ignition, but Kugelfischer injection has always been problematical. We also need to work out why the wheel fell off!
And yes we got the drain unblocked!

My father had a GS and the rear tyres lasted 73,000 miles, when tyres didn't crack for years.

I thought the photo on the xm fb group looked familiar, glad you've found one!
I need rear tyres next year too. Oodles of tread but sidewall cracking...

The other question in my mind for the future is what impact is the vendetta against fossil fuelled engines going to have on modern classics?

There are a couple of cars I have bought that I thought were under valued to sell on again in a year or two when the market realised that. In 2011 I bought a 1972 MGB GT as I could not believe they were only worth a 1/5 of the roadster price. Then 7 years ago I bought a 1996 BMW M3 Evo convertible because E36 M cars looks so cheap compared to other M cars. I was  right they have both substantially grown in value, trouble is I like them and still have them both!

That's the issue, and also the general clunkiness of Diskloks.  Hopefully the various other solutions I use are better than nothing.

Daihatsu news. After an oil flush, a refill with 5w40 and a couple of different additives (Liqui Moly's Oil Additive and Motor Saver - this one softens rubber apparently), today's cold start was not the damp bonfire affair of earlier cold starts. Still a tinge of blue, but better. Quickly cleared out on the road. The rear brake binding was down to the handbrake a cable. Tugging the cable instantly freed the brake, so it's fine as long as you don't use the handbrake... Have ordered a cable. Once it arrives, I'll put the Charade into daily duty.
2CV was fine today. New plugs seem to have sorted her out. Should get some goodies for the Fox today.

Six-cylinder reacted to Peter C in Mercedes W124 200E - Rolling Resto - Now in daily use but needs new exhaust
I've returned the dreaded Audi TT to the dealer a couple of weeks ago and my newly leased Kia Exceed won't be with me until middle of next week. In the meantime, the 200E has been serving as a temporary daily that is being used for business (seen here parked outside Ascot Race Course):

And pleasure (seen here taking my son and our mountain bikes to Bourne End marina):

My exhaust repair seems to be doing ok, the rotted out back box remains silent. I've shopped around UK suppliers and found that a new rear box alone costs well over £100 whilst centre boxes are pretty much unavailable. The same goes for Autodoc in Germany. I extended my EBay search and found a company in Poland that offered a centre and rear box plus a fitting kit, including p&p, for £85.90. I bought it and it arrived yesterday:

The old system, inspected when removed by the mechanic during the gearbox replacement saga:

The section of pipe between the two boxes takes a slightly different route compared with my old system, however that should not be a problem providing that it doesn't bang on anything and everything else lines up. I won't be attempting to fit the new exhaust until my Kia is up and running, as I don't want to mess things up and end up without a useable car.

But not much because it's cold and I have work to do.
Bonus: Powered sunblind is working now.
