Briefly shared a 2.3 pug diesel (indenor?) one in pinky faded red with a mate when we were 17. Slow but still a nice thing to drive in fairness. He crashed it stood up with his head out of the sunroof whilst it tugged itself down the street at idle in 3rd. When the end of the road came he didn't sit down quick enough and hit a postbox.
He had a habit of doing fucking stupid things like that. I didn't go into shared ownership of a car with him again.

I was stopped by plain clothes police drugs squad officers for overtaking them down the Dock Road in Liverpool. It was a week after I passed my driving test. In my dad's dangly mirror beige base 1.6 estate.  Probably doing 80 mph in what is Now a 30.  I think it was a 60 in those days. Got a bit of advice at the side of the road.
Not taking the advice I spun that car on the coast road at Southport about 6 months later. No visible damage. 🤔
A few years later I got his Sapphire 1.8LX up to an indicated 136 on a German Autobahn at 2 am heading for Stuttgart. He was asleep. When he woke up he was complaining about how much fuel I'd used.
He took me off the insurance when I got his 2.0 16V ghia estate sideways on a motorway roundabout in the dry.  Probably shouldn't have done it with him in the passenger seat.  30 years later he still won't put me on his insurance.

No you’re fine. The question is “Have you ever had insurance cover refused, cancelled or voided”
All you’ve got is a letter saying they’re unable to offer a renewal, ie. The 12 month contract won’t be renewed.
What ‘refused’ means is if you’d called somewhere for a quote and for example non disclosed a claim, they come back and say they’ve founded a non disclosed claim so therefore are refusing you cover.

This has come up on a Facebook group. There are a lot of comments asking why isn't he sleeping on the back seat. Am I the only one who thinks it's not his car and he's found the boot unlocked?

About 10 years ago I did work for a local giffer who'd had various types of Rover over many years, going back to a  p6 2000 in the 1980s, and they'd always been slightly giffer-blinged.
    2300 SD1, 820s, Sterlings, 620s, 75s, etc.
He showed me his latest purchase which had Rover emblems on the bonnet, boot, all 4 wings, and both rear pillars.  He'd also put chrome edging round the wheelarches.  Fair enough, his car, if he's happy, etc, etc.
The only thing was, it was a 2001 Vauxhall Omega 2.2 auto.

My Dad owned a Mk 1,  2 Mk 3s, a Mk 1 Ka, and a 1.6 Zetec Mk 5.  I've owned a 1.4 Zetec Mk 6.  My partner owned a Mark 4 (sadface) 1.3 as her first car, her sister owns a later 1.25 Mk 6 and one of our friends drives a 1.25 Mk 6.

My cousin's husband (cousin-in-law?) is the true fan and his daily is a Mk 1.  But he also owns a Mk 4 Ghia and a Mk 5 ST.  At one point he had a personal scrapyard of about 25 Fiestas and Kas in the garden in varying states of use - most of which were just parts spares.

I think it's safe to say that Fiestas have been a big part of my life.  I think they're brilliant.  I never liked the Mk 7 much, though.

It's a sad state of affairs that a practical, small car like the Fiesta isn't going to be made any more.  It's clear Ford have made a commercial decision but that makes me no less sad...

Has 7 seater demand really fallen away? I'm happy with my Tourneo Custom, but many drivers won't have one due to basically being a van.

Round nose mini projects are currently running about £1500 to £2000 at the moment. A clubman estate might fetch more.
As a double mini owner I actually get upset seeing the prices going into the silly territory. As fun as they are I just don't think that those prices are justifiable.

My Dad moved on from Robins when I was about 10, so I cant remember/didn't know exact figures, but I'd say his Mk1 Robins would have done more like 50mpg rather than 100mpg.
Classic Mini 850, 998 or even 1098 engines could all achieve 50mpg driven lightly I'd say. I remember going from Tamworth to Minehead and back a long way round on a really hot summer day and getting around 50+mpg in my Mini Clubman.
