  1. Absolute bargain. I can't see sorted mk1s will ever be cheaper than this.
  2. Weird. Looks like it was on Muppetplace in September 2023. Someone's made some effort to reassemble parts in the meantime. I wonder if it was being towed and there was an issue?
  3. Give his daughter a bit of credit, Eddie - she's one year out and she can't check with her old man as he's passed on 😆. To be fair, I'm impressed that she continues to share fascinating snippets of her father's automotive journey; the guy was both genius and loon in equal measure.
  4. Just spotted this on the antisocials and thought of this thread. Working class Roller! Yours would look good on a set of inappropriate 70s slots, too 😉 The backstory: "My Dad swore by the Rolls Royce Silver cloud, we had them in the family from the late 60’s right up to recently. They were as happy cruising the continent at 100mph as they were being his workhorses ! We had just dragged this 1956 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz back from Cadiz Spain , early 1970’s" Edit: Just realised the fella in question is none other than John Dodd, previous long-term owner of The Beast. Proper DGAF attitude- good man.
  5. Ha! That's rich. Seriously though, if you're really that bothered about people using reactions to your posts on this thread, and it makes you feel unvalued, I suggest you step away from the place for a few days to relax and clear your head. LBF - how's progress on the motor? Is the kingpin no longer doing an impression of Katie Price?
  6. HFM? "I have sauced a new from old stock on route" Nice.
  7. It's on an axle stand, and the exhaust looks to be hanging down. Has someone done some work on it there or pulled the engine and gearbox and now abandoned it? Agreed. The amount of shite all over the road and pavement suggests the owner is/was a serial tinkerer over a sustained period of time. Maybe the fella passed on?
  8. Last time I did the dvla info request was around a decade ago with my old mk2 Golf Gti. It took ages for them to get back to me - I think I was something like the 18th owner. I seem to remember they sent me a letter partway through the process suggesting that they were struggling to find some of the old V5s from the old filing cabinets hidden in the basement or something. It was great when they eventually did send the paperwork through though - it gave a real insight into where the car had been for the previous two decades. It's a real shame GDPR has put pay to the process now.
  9. Agreed. It was a really clean example which sailed its first mot in years. It deserves better than hooky plates and being dumped on a grass verge, out in the elements. Good luck - there was huge interest on here in 2018 iirc when he took it on and was immaculate.
  10. It was photographed on the road outside his house a while back looking pretty sorry for itself. Shame really as it looked really clean when it was discovered a while back. It had the plate from an older 323 stuck onto it too, so its true rocking horse identity isn't quite as obvious to the untrained eye. Edit: Here it is a couple of years ago. It looks scruffier now.
  11. Damn, what are those alloys again? Head's blank after a long day. I fitted a set to my white Cavalier Gsi at one point - they looked so good on it.
  12. It's survived more than 30 shitty English winters. That's pretty good for a vehicle which is supposed to be piloted through mud.
  13. Sounds like a perfect addition to life's stresses!
  14. Drag coefficient results are a bit of a head scratcher. 35 years ago the Calibra achieved 0.26 Folksfarken's I.D 4 which in term of aerodynamics looks slightly closer to the shape of a brick with some curves has a surprising result of 0.28.
  15. Looks like the YT fella works for Trents in Poole, Dorset. Could be worth a call? I can't see it on their salvage auction list though, so in theory it's going to have a COD issued unless someone gets in pronto... https://m.facebook.com/CharlesTrentLimited/posts/we-are-very-proud-to-have-kevtee-as-part-of-our-team-at-charles-trent-your-award/5516327245129817/
  16. Anyone after a pair of Montys? Decent source of cheap spares if nothing else. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/3335373363428369/
  17. Lots of potential there. Here's a bit of inspiration.
