  1. Dows anyone have a link for a rotten Nova GTE which was on ebay within the last couple of weeks? I can't find it now - it was a dark green colour but complete with engine if I remember correctly.

Whenever I see one, I call them a Kia 'Lack of'.

Reminds me of the Curious Tall Metro.

On a different note, have we had this one yet?

  3. That's a fairly early one - well bought! Original pie tray hubcaps too - not seen them for years. GM got the ergonomics of the cabin just right on these - I loved the driving position on mine. A mate had a B plate 1200 an age ago - I reckon  C plate survivors are now rare  let alone Bs...

No, two up front one in back. I rekon if the guy in the back was sat behind the driver he’d be dead

Bloody hell. That's beyond lucky. I'm not a religious fella but I think I'd be nodding towards the skies for a brief moment after that just as a quick acknowledgement that everyone survived unscathed.

It won't start. Press the button the dash lights and then goes black again.

Oh dear. Our neighbour's very shiny,  low mileage 18 plate Discovery FTPd a few days back - everything completely shut down for no apparent reason and it refused to go. JLR now have it and it looks like it could be the main ECU.

Fingers crossed yours is a relatively easy fix in contrast.

My other ayf’s nephew went to football training last night at a club not too far from us. Some total twat there didn’t bother to lock the barrier gate in the open position. Nephew drives in with two other mates in his car (so 3 up, as it turns out luckily so). Wind blows gate closed as he’s driving through. They were all ok, but it’s a wonder one of them wasn’t killed let alone injured

Has the gate... gone through the car? How the hell wasn't one of them decapitated? Scary shiz right there.

Generally ok . Egr failure is common and a subframe down job to replace it .
yes I’m sure some bleating hero’s will say it can be done without but I like to do it properly and not lose skin .
Injectors just fail randomly and we’re on back order for a bit but available now I believe . Not cheap tho .

Otherwise I’ve not seen any other problems with them

Less shit than the 1.0 and 1.6 TSI then?

Your problem is not find enough people to chuck in to cover the purchase price, it's finding someone who will be the "keeper" and actually have the thing on their drive.

I would chuck 20 quid in to save it from the scrapper but only on condition it never darkens my doorstep, and most other people will be the same.

Agreed. If it had a Ford badge, there would inevitably be more interest. I'd like to see this thing live, but as you, I'd not be able to have it here.

in General Invalid Carriage news, I finally found myself in the right headspace to put together and post a writeup response here

    https://forum.retro-rides.org/thread/225941/1963-reselco-nelco-solocar

as per my response in there, 628EYK is quite interesting to me because not only is it a new survivor for the list but its a very close relative of a another Solocar thats known to survive

its always really quite fun when close relatives like this survive! especially for the likes of something like a Solocar, which generally was always a private machine

(there is rumblings the Ministry might of supplied Solocars for replacement of worn out Argsons, but nothing has been concretely proven there)

I also like the pair as they share a partial mark with RT1 EYK396 :)

I am hope my post will help encourage the owner to push forward to getting it back on the road once more :)

Good idea to post on there. I'd forgotten you were already on RR - just re-read the tall Metro thread where I put two and two together and pointed you back over there. I'm still impressed that you inadvertently solved the long running headscratcher!

Seen in the Wirral on 22nd October.
The alloy wheels were optional on S and Ghia models when this car was new and later became standard on Ghia, but wouldn't have been fitted to this L when it left the factory.

I always quite liked driving the Mk4 and 5 Cortina estates back in the 90s. They felt surprisingly solid and surefooted for what they were. Decent gearchange too.

I take responsibility for stuffing a load of filler on top of shonky welding (not mine) on several of them which went on to become forecourt sales cars where I worked. That mk4 looks bloody lovely and the Ghia alloys really make it.

Yup , some of the ratios duplicated so there was about 6 usable gears , I had a green one like the photo, it was bought from John Clark ( has a bit of an empire up here) as a trade sale ,he used it for his holiday car in Spain so had lhd headlights , his mechanics nicknamed it kermit.
As for photos only got for the Fuego & Acclaim I will try and up load, film was dear so back in the day cars only appeared in the background when filming family and friends .b2b00233bf47110e7403a4e269a49d91.jpg

Nice! Mine was the slightly facelifted version on a Y plate. Rapid old thing at the time, especially with the John Connor gearbox setup...

Was showing my partner's Dad the compilation video of Rufford Ford yesterday.  It's the one where the first fifteen or so vehicles are black BMWs.

Is this a rite of passage for BMW owners that I'm not familiar with?

    Seems like you got lucky!

I was about to say the same. If there's no lasting damage to the F31, you've been bloody lucky. My brother hydrolocked his old 2.4d na Hilux years back and it was never quite right again.
