  1. I'm surprised they squished the mk1 and 2 MR2s...
  2. There's a bloke in Cornwall with one just like that. Common as mook!
  3. Oh, now it makes sense. Good to see it staying on here. I bet he'll prod it though 😅
  4. Yeah, my thoughts entirely. The derusting has made it look like a car again and although it's now little more than an fragile ornament, it's an eye-catching one with a cracking backstory. It's way more interesting than your average museum piece.
  5. I remember reading about this car a few years back but don't recall a thread on here. Take a brand new 1957 Plymouth Belevdere, and offer it as the prize for a competion. The only catch is that it's going to be stuck underground in a time capsule for 50 years... Fascinating reading, and good to see it's finally found a home. I'd quite like to have a look around the place at some point. Warning: Do not follow the links below if you are sensitive to graphic car photos! https://www.oldcarsweekly.com/.amp/news/miss-belvedere-found-her-forever-home-and-is-on-display https://axleaddict.com/cars/MissBelvedere#gid=ci026d96c7b0012766&pid=missbelvedere-MTc0OTYxNzQzNTkxOTc0NzU4
  6. Yes, tyres look to be originals upon closer inspection. They're quite perished but are in keeping with the general patina! Agreed about the central screen pillar too. I did have one other thought of bare metalling the shell, polishing it with the Dremel and keeping that as the finish - something a bit different. I reckon if I go down that route I'll use a generic ruined shell as a test mule first though.
  7. I'd be in two minds whether to restore that or not. On one hand, it's a Stevie Wonder paintjob. On the other, it's unique and it would make me smile because it's so bizarre. The paintwork tells a story too. I feel similarly with the VeeDub bus I had from you a while back. It would look lovely in shiny, immaculate paint but the patina, although quite extreme, draws me to it even more. It's been a loved toy, probably a long time ago. I'm not sure I can bring myself to pull it apart!
  8. I used to love watching the A Team.
  9. Whilst longevity wasn't factored into their design and construction, Metros remained one of Britain's most popular cars over the majority of their period of production. People actually liked them and they were a decent little motor to drive.
  10. How sad is that Ulez victim? One owner from new and 400k with detailed history. It's clearly been a much loved car. I bet the owner is gutted to part ways with it after 33 years thanks to Ulez BS.
  11. That reminds me of when I was parking up at the tip a couple of years back. My engine was still running, I was in the process of answering a call from Mrs L and I spotted a bloke strutting past the back of my car with a complete, lidded 80’s Scalextric track box. The way he held it suggested it wasn't empty, either. My abillty to multitask became nil at that point as I watched helplessly and with my mouth still wide as the chap proceeded to throw the box into a nearby skip. In hindsight, I should have jumped out of the car, engine running and with OH still on the line and accosted the bloke before he lobbed it. Hindsight...
  12. I'd totally forgotten about that one. I reckon it was one of the cleanest examples remaining - I remember the ad photos and mot history was surprisingly good considering it's an early 80s Mazda. I remember @antony denman sold it a couple of years back - I wonder what happened to it?
  13. Mazda Montrose. I bet no-one on here has owned one. Edit: @wesacosa posted a Montrose at the same time... What are the chances of that?!
  14. I don't think I've ever heard claim on here of anyone owning a Frogeye? My father owned one in the late 60s. This is a random young chap from a place synonymous with comedy legend* Stan Boardman.
  15. Not current, but my boss from garage days in the early 1990s loved an obscure motor. He had a Fiat Argenta as his personal motor for a fair time and often sourced oddities for the forecourt. Some examples which stuck with me were a 240k Skyline coupe- the first and last I've ever seen in the metal: A chap who worked there owned a ropey Stellar in that 80s metallic blue. Again, never seen one in the metal since I don't think. The biggest surprise was his Renault 18 turbo I drove when he asked me to collect a few bits from the motor factors. I was halfway past a car in a 30 limit when the turbo eventually spooled. As an 18 year old who'd only owned and mainly driven a 1100 mk1 Golf and then a 1100 Morris Minor, I damn near shat myself.
  16. It was tongue in cheek to be fair 😉. It looks a riot to send around the track!
  17. Brilliant, thank you! I'm assuming you're very much not making stl files for the Harrington Legionnaire available to the masses at any point? 😉
  18. @garethj Just stumbled across this gem again - do you have a thread anywhere on here documenting the build?
