Ford /Mazda are the same company.

Not round here were not,me had the same thing a few years ago nothing wrong with our road ( probably not 200 yes long) as a side road totally resurfaced, other minefields in area now worse.
There was a news item a bit back that said if they worked on just repairing potholes & no more appeared while this was happening it would take approximately 20 years to achieve smooth roads.

Why would they spend £2k plus, when they could get something more normal for less.
Because as said they like the controversy it causes to us & it's bragging rights to the peers" I'm so cool look what rare thing I managed to destroy" is what I can gather from the ones I've been around over the years.
Was recently in a shopping centre carpark walking back to one of my cars when a group coming towards me ( not knowing me) were commenting that they thought it needed the windows kicking out & taking round the track!
Yes they had the full uniform loose fitting clothes, Elizabeth duke jewellery, hands down tracksuit bottoms constantly checking their cock , chicken stagger & 14 year-old chavettes giggling over every word.
My immediate thought was yeah because you haven't got the skill or talent to restore/create something, only to destroy things you fucking chavs. What an asset to society you are.

The market for these must be tiny. Who spends £2300 on things so "rare" and niche ?

It's a might have been, bit like my MK3 GT estate ( ford only built mk1-2 cortina GT estates).

Very much so even among other departments. I'm still amazed they lasted so long.

Everyone should experience a messrina/shital to understand why we no longer have a motor industry in the UK .
The all-round awfulness has to be driven to be believed so as to understand that Clarkson wasn't just being sarcastic, listen to people who lived through the bl plughole of doom era , then drive a competitor especially something Japanese of the period only the rampant rust slowed the inevitable onslaught . which once sorted drove the final nails in.
Unlike the rest of the industry that realised it had better up it's game bl continued as be fore using 30 plus year old tech in 20 year old designs relying on a dwindling clientele.

Reminds me of the Sheffield simplex of the same era (made a couple of miles from here) one of which survives & is displayed locally.
The only other know is I believe in Australia.

Price is a bit mental but interesting nonetheless
Cant be arsed with link as presume it's all the usual bullshit about gen ex ford R&D blah blah blah.
When it's history is well documented including the fact it was rotten as a rotten thing from rot town so probably just had the int repaired & swapped into another shell.

At a guess those are attempts at speed camera invisibility ( as per stealth bomber).

I don’t get the appeal either tbh!
When I was in the garage we got an 80’s Ferrari of some sort in for some work. Lucky Eddy here got the job of working on it, which was an absolute nightmare! When I was working on it most of the other guys were swarming around it lusting over it!
Tbh it was a nice enough car. But it wasn’t particularly comfortable to drive, it was an utter twat to work on, and it just didn’t do much for tbh. And I don’t like red either!!😆This will cause some serious eyebrow raising… but I always look at cars like that, especially the engine and think, ‘they’re just playing at it really’! My Mercury engine is bigger, looks better and sounds better imho! And it’s easy to work on, cheap to work on and won’t break anywhere near as easily.
I just don’t get super cars at all.
In fact, at the time I was driving a Volvo 340 which I much preferred!🤣 keep your fucking Ferrari!Gentlemen I give you the Ford GT 40. Ferrari who? I rest my case.

The EU are meddling again.
There is a proposal to stop repairs to major parts on cars older than 15 years old. Things like engine, brakes gearbox etc.
I know that most of you are living in the UK, but legislation if it comes about will also affect you some way. It is doubtful it would be cost effective for manufactures to keep producing parts for markets which are relatively small.
The link is in Spanish, but there is a translation button in red. https://www.escuderia.com/la-union-europea-planea-prohibir-reparar-los-coches-mas-viejos-como-puede-afectar-a-los-clasicos/
It is obviously a stupid proposal. Here is a link to show what the average age of vehicles are in various EU countries. These are averages . Greece and Estonia have the oldest car fleets, with vehicles almost 17 years old. The newest passenger cars can be found in Luxembourg (7.6 years).
https://www.acea.auto/figure/average-age-of-eu-vehicle-fleet-by-country/
New cars sales, here in Spain, are not going well. Maybe this will boost them.
The UK government makes to much money for that segment of the motor industry to enforce this sort of thing.
No doubt it'll be sighting environmental benefits amongst the bullshit.
