    UPDATE

I made up a passenger door. The original is pretty rotten, so intention was to make a good one from the four I have.

The white one seemed to have the most solid frame. It appears to have been waxed/treated at some point. It still needed a few patches though. The yellow door provided the repairs.

    Welded, ground down and filled.

The side door was next on the agenda. The frame and panel are in good condition, but there is some rot in the skin near the bottom hinge. As the hinges are the same as the front doors I cut a piece of doorskin from the hinge on the yellow passenger door. I cut the rot out, welded in new, ground the welds down and skimmed it with filler.

Next job was to tackle the crumbly front offside jacking point. The end of the outrigger had corroded to the point that a jack would just lift up into the box section. I had already replaced and rebuilt the nearside a number of years ago. It took a while to do it as well as access was a bit cumbersome.

This time though I accepted my mate's offer of the use of his four post lift

So he came round and collected the van and we took it to his workshop.

    Up she goes

As you can maybe see, the end of the outrigger has crumbled away. The inner sill is very good though, probably because it's been protected by the petrol tank.

I cut part of the outer sill away and also cut part of the inner sill. This was so I could get decent access to the outrigger.

I cut the crap out of the outrigger and made up a new section to weld in. I used part of the the side panel I replaced and to match the original jacking point I double skinned it were it was required. This was then spot welded together.

It was then tacked in position and then welded in place. I then ground the welds down and sprayed the inside of the box section with zinc primer.

I loved using the lift, such a relief not to have to scrabble around on the floor for a change.

    Thats all for now folks.

If we're doing the broad strokes approach to countries, then the only thing your average Brit is good at making these days is complaints.
That comment and variations on it about how it's China's fault Britain can't make good stuff any more is utter nonsense.  Britain is no longer a manufacturing power house, hasn't been for decades, while China has been investing heavily in becoming the country that makes everything for everyone.  Stuff made in China runs the whole range from hopeless eBay tat all the way through to high end tech and lots of other stuff besides.
Also Brits are fucking tight and/or skint all the time anyway.  You're not going to pay a premium for a British made thing, you're just going to moan about how expensive it is and then go and buy the Chinese thing you said you didn't want to buy because it's that much cheaper and several levels of quality lower.  Brits are world class hypocrites that way.

After taking ages to sort out electrical gremlins to the rear lights it finally got an MOT,  but it wasn't running properly so I trailered it to a friend in Hull who is a Fiat and Alfa specialist, who worked on these vans when they were new and used as workshop hacks. He did some carb adjustments and set it all up correctly and it now runs really well...
I've still got some interior bits to sort out (put new fibreboard in the back, make some replacement headrests etc) but they will be done over the next few months...
Here are some photos of it with my 900T...

After it returned from the paintshop I set about putting it back together. I hoped to get it and the 900T to FOTU 2023 ...but that didn't happen 🙁 so my Panda 750L went in it's place...

Well it's been quite a while. I intended to have a short break from here (and other forums...) Usually I was logged in all the time, but when I came back it asked me for my password and i couldn't find it!! I tried to reset but it didn't like it and I didn't fancy setting up a replacement account and starting from scratch again, so I left it at that...until a few weeks ago I found the piece of paper with my AS login details in the laptop bag full of crap (you can't fit the laptop in it...). Hooray.😀
So in the three years that I haven't been able to update this thread the Fiorino has been coming along a treat...
I'll let the pictures do the talking...
