  1. what are you guys using? (the ai generator, not recreational substances šŸ˜‚) my prompts dont seem to generate anything decent- must be my imagination thats lacking!
  2. Maybe the price hike will bring with it sorting the arrivals more professionally? if it means old cars not boiling over in a queue id be ok with that, if i was driving something the show is about.
  3. Currently off roading in the transitā€¦.
  4. This 1/43 french made resin model of a testarossa came today
  5. Theres a load of plate suppliers in ireland (thus sidestepping regs) that will do it with no docs, and fast turnaround. ā€œPlates for carsā€ is ireland based, isn't particulary cheap but is very quick if you select the fastest postage
  6. Enzo Ferrari was also no fan, he reconned if EFI was the norm, and someone came up with something as elegant as a carb, it would be the new big thing. Mind you he also Told Paul Frere that aero was for people who couldnt build decent engines.
  7. Love these, i had one a couple of years ago and was very impressed. Rover again showing forward thinking product innovation. It was a late one with the facelift dash and the cool separate rest seats. Looking fwd to updates!
  8. Will do- will see him this weekend. hes probably got all displacements i thought the 2.8 is closest to the 1.5 / 2.5. He will probably have a few 2.5 triumph 6ā€™s available too.
  9. Good call- pretty much same displacment and configuration
  10. jag 2.8 xk engine - my mate steve has probably got a few lying about with automatic boxes. He put one it a triumph spitfire
  11. What are your thoughts re engine? IIRC they had a twin cam originally, go original or have a spiritual successor under the hood, or something completely different? Great project!
  12. its here Driven toTavistock by a lovely Polish lady called Agnes
  13. Flashback to 2015 and my last transit (on the right!) the new one is en route
  14. Lovely, IIRC thats ā€œdiamond blue metallicā€ had a couple of 124s in it Got some interior pics? Any other sportline bits on it?
  15. A procession of tractors just passed my house
  16. As posted in the end of year tat accounts, i had an itch recently for a camper. I didnt wish to pay for a proper camper, but also didnt want to inherit a worked to death builders van that had a bed put in it. Solution? buy a converted minibus. Rooflining and some (basic) interior trim in place already, whip out some seats and put some amenities in. Which is basically what i bought - a LWB former minibus for a fraction of what a proper one goes for. No i cant have a shit in it, but then again i also dont need to clean out a chemical loo.
  17. Oldest shite of the year + young shiters
  18. I literally cant remember šŸ˜‚
  19. I sold it locally- it was smoking at warm idle, i decided to change the crankcase breather to aim for a cheap fix but it made no difference. I decided to bail out before committing to anything more.
  20. I did go back to new top gear episode 1- 2003 ish - you can see the format developing. The ā€˜hangarā€™ only has about 20 people in and clarkson goes on a trip to france in a berlingo.
  21. At least toward the end of the clarkson era, rather than costing them it was their biggest global money spinner, possibly explaining why those concerned kept wanting to have more seasons laid down.
  22. I spent last week slithering around on front tyres that had no right to belong on a car with a ticket. I decided to go for some all season covers. My budget disnt stretch to cross climates, as this is a banger, but Nankangā€™s cheaper version had decent enough reviews, so they were fitted a few days ago. I got a bit more confident pushing the car- which revealed something else- limp mode. Turns out full boost is quite pokey, but if you stray over 3500rpm it cuts the boost until you restart the engine. There isnt much point visiting those rpms, but every so often i like to get diesel cars properly hot and cane them about in my shiter version of an italian tune up. Anyway, some more detail of the dodgy bitsā€¦ 3 alloys on my wagon (!) Wonderful paint job- why bother? But despite all that its a nice steer and STILL* my only car at present *3 weeks in or something like that
  23. Not a lot of news to report, the only vehicle on the much reduced fleet in this 215k passat Its got very little (ie none) history, but the front suspension isnt knackered, it doesnt fill with water and all the door locks work. So as a banger b5 goes its not bad. I quite like the dark green. A fastidious* former keeper has replaced the drivers door, from a blue one, then done no prep and rattle canned the door; so the paint is flaking off when you touch it. Bad match anyway. Rocking the banger vibe. Its one of the ā€œhighlineā€ models so you get heated leather. it also has circa 2003 sat nav And it still works! although not updated so things that were industrial units/ petrol stations on the map are sometimes now housing estates. So this has gone steadily down the food chain until it has been userped by the b6 as the banger passat of choice. But with the TDI PD AWX lump in it its practical, swift, economic and from the era of possibly the apex of turbodiesel development. feels a long time ago! For some reason i find these very comfortable and very relaxing to drive so i just cruise about everywhere guided by my vintage ā€œroad navigation systemā€
