michael1703 got a reaction from sdkrc in biggest pile of shite you have ever looked at?
Probably ended up buying most of the shite I looked at
worst purchase recently was a minor traveller last year, blind bid on ebay won it at £120,went to pick it up Saturday morning it was absolutely fucked, smoked the clutch on my range rover dragging it out, had to chisel the brake drums off to get it free enough to move, the doors wouldn't shut as the "A" posts were rotten, the rear axle departed as i dragged it out and had to be held fast with a ratchet strap, the wood was rotten and the rear doors hanging off.
I thoroughly strapped everything on/down/tight and drove it back to the workshop, gave it a thorough check and pronounced it dead, both chassis rails were dust, engine seized, the list goes on.
Left it on the trailer to scrap it Monday morning, took the scenic route to stay off main roads and noticed something in my rear mirror that wasn't there before, it was both rear doors which had come off as a pair and were sitting on the o/s of the trailer, fastened them down, carried on, hit a bump and the side windows bounced out and smashed onto the road, kicked the fragments into the verge and got to the scrapyard, scrapped it and broke even, less my time and a slipping clutch
What a fuck up

I remember when these came out, I asked my dad if they had normal engines and would look under the bonnets suspiciously to see what was underneath.
They started up first go with their auto chokes and pre engaged starters unlike the other cars in our street, they seemed space age to me

michael1703 got a reaction from Pieman in What's the first car you had sex in?
This has become a very funny thread but its also endearing and indicative of the broadminded member base that nobody has raised comment to men having relations with other men on here, think that would be very different on other car forums.

michael1703 got a reaction from richardthestag in Learning to rebuild engines - where to start?
Having rebuilt numerous car engines you get used to a procedure, the engine that is the biggest headfuck is the air cooled vw. Forget anything that you know about engines and start again

Had a bloke turn up with a VW Crafter van. His pad warning light was on so he asked if I could do pads on it. As I had nowt to do today I took it on, big mistake !!. The discs were shagged as well and he said if I could do it for £150 he would have it done. It looked easy enough until it came to getting the discs off. What a fucking nightmare !! I had to get the plasma cutter out as they had rusted on so tight. I won't be doing one of them again in a hurry. I made about 30 quid out of the whole job which was still better than nothing.

People at festivals wearing hats. You wouldn't wear that trilby or clockwork orange style thing in normal life, yeah you look really different, just like the 60,00 other blokes there

1943 -- Mother in sideways hat (sooo stylish) and father in uniform leaving for their honeymoon.
Car is 1939 Plymouth that belonged to mum's father.
Then later a while, Father with his 1961 Zephyr with his production No 2.
Car was bought in 1961 and replaced by a Mk3 in 1963 so it's new but a bit used looking.

As the clutch on my C4 VTS is slipping (see Grump thread) I charged the battery from the XM for a couple of hours and despite having sat unused and neglected since the middle of May, it started up first turn of the key!

Following on from the 3p toilet fix earlier this week, I just repaired my sons "fucked" laptop for nothing.
Basically undo the screws, reseat the ram chips, and done.
Once again Mrs P was encouraging the involvement of a professional. I mean, really? Anyway, off to sort the Middle East peace process, back in five.....

2012 photographs all updated (page 21). Really wasn't a good year at all for the poor old wedge, she got knocked about a bit.
In more recent news, I spoke to scaryoldcortina recently and he reckons he can repair that leaking schrader block so, once I've got the suspension pipe off, I should have the Princess back in use again once I can get the local Hydragas pump contact to come out and do the do. Happy days.
