I happened across this site the other day and I've been addicted. Great community and a lot of humourous posts.

I've always been interested in cars and I'm drawn to older cars. New cars leave me a bit cold to be honest not that I get the chance to drive anything that new anyway. I've had a few older cars including a BMW 325i touring e30, a surprisingly good Citroen ZX 1.4 I bought off eBay for £62 with MOT, a Citroen ZX 1.9td Volcane that was excellent, a couple of old A4's, a Citroen BX, Fiat 131 etc. I've got an Alfa 156 2.4 jtd now which fleeced me for £1400 for a dmf, clutch, suspension and aux belt last month. It's due a timing belt soon but it's not getting one until it behaves itself. I also have 2 mr2 mk1's. I've had one on the road for 10 years and was considering selling it as not practical but instead I bought my mates off him as a project too! No space, money or time to spend on them but there you go. I'm currently considering a Volvo v70 and also have a hankering for an Audi 80 but not sure why? I'm looking forward to chatting with likeminded car nuts who are looking for automotive heaven, on a budget.

This tale could feature in the next series of Doctor Who.
The forum experiences a temporal shift, hops back in time to yesterday afternoon and all the events that were unfolding in the original time-line never come to fruition.
On that original time-line I was just about to discover an old Bugatti in the back of a barn, flog it for a fortune and buy a storage facility to stuff full of chod.
In this new time-line, I've just found and old Bourbon down the back of the sofa. I'll put the kettle on - that needs a cuppa to go with it.

I love tat spotting in Essex, today I went from finding a Morris Eight Tourer to a Hyundai Pony Pickup to an XR2 within 10 minutes of each other.

Please don't add another board, the green tags remove the main reason for a 'for sale' board by helping us find stuff. If we had a separate board everything that was for sale would be constantly pimped in the tat and news threads instead.

I think we should get rid of the events section too as the meet threads are much more lively on the main board.

I like the open forum as it is, I didn't think it would work but it does.

4 years ago,My dad found a set of TR6 wheels with good tyres and hubcaps in a hedge and gave them to me.

I sold them to a mate for £40 he put them on his scimitar

He gave up driving due to age and gave me the car they are fitted to and a spare set of (better/correct) wheels which I'm going to put on

The phone rings last night, a guy asks "do I have a set of wheels for a TR6"

I reckon that'd be quite a nice car for someone who is already up to the level of doing their own brakes and balljoints to graduate to Shite-Artist Level 3* and attempt a head gasket. It's not like you're feet-first into a KV6 or something, and worst case you lose a few quid and sell it on with the head in the boot.

I've spun the Wheel of Excuses and it came up with "You're too far away to trailer it back" so it's only an observation rather than a binding contract, like, but I can't think of many cars that would be easier to fix up, and look smart.

*Shite-Artist Level 2 is track rod ends, brakes, balljoints, engine ancillaries and winder regulators.
Shite-Artist Level 1 is putting oil in and taking it for new tyres.
Shite-Artist Level 4 is replacing an engine or fitting tyres to rims using nothing more than a plastic spork and some KY Jelly
Shite-Artist Level 5 is getting a Laguna Auto diesel running for more than a week.

I don't get on with blow-molded tool boxes as I usually open them upside down and spill the sockets everywhere, the other problem is that I've usually broken something and the replacement doesn't quite fit in the gap the old one left.

The solution was to screw a bit of plywood under the lid of a normal plastic toolbox and bolt some of those socket rails that Grundig posted onto that.  I need to keep my AF sockets in order as being as I grew up with metric I have to really think what the next size up/down is when they don't quite fit.

Mental hail storms today. It went from clear to about 4 inches deep of hail in about 2 minutes. I was heading through irvine and spotted a new Merc A class up on the roundabout and a distressed looking women standing staring at it.  I stopped and the tyre had came clear off the rim and it being a new car there was no spare and a tin of foam wasn't going to do much damage. As I was standing talking to her I heard a swwwwissssssh as a Golf GTi did exactly the same thing and went straight over the roundabout, about 10 feet away. He got out all nonchalant and was like "slippy eh". In the mean time someone on the other side of the roundabout had rear ended a van. I helped her find the number for Mercedes assist and buggered off. When I came back she was gone so I guess they came and hoovered her up.

We had a worse one at the college,  an 18" section of cast iron guttering fell off on a windy day and landed on the photocopier engineers front windscreen while he was sat in it.  Luckily it didn't go through and apart from the screen and possibly his trousers there wasn't any damage to him or his brand new car.

    He wasn't best pleased.
