This week has been dry, sunny and warm so I've made the most of it on the polishing. 4 days to get from this:
    Via this:

    To this:

It's got to the stage where I close my eyes, and all I can visualise is the buffer, spinning in front of me. It looks better from a distance; close up you can still see the fine scratches which will (should!) be taken out by the second pass.

I still need to go over the bits above window level, but am not going to polish the whole roof. Partly because I'm lazy, but partly because I want to paint it in heat-reflective paint as is done on modern Airstreams. This may also cure the odd water leak which we've yet been able to trace.
It seemed a shame to get rid of the old stickers, but have taken a few photos.

Today has been rainy as usual, so back inside. The original control panel had a set of lights to indicate the fresh water level.

However, this was what I had at the tank end.

Given the number of wires I was reasonably sure that it would be connected to a set of conductivity prongs, rather than a variable resistance sender. And as luck would have it, the gauge in the LT got damaged, and the replacement came with this which was now surplus to requirements!

This was easily fitted in the top of one of the tanks, so once I had worked out the functions of each wire, I could connect up and test the system.

    So...moment of truth!

It's classified as a Confined Space so by law before maintenance teams can go in rescue plans have to be devised so that workers can be extracted in case of emergency.

Only once my colleagues and I had worked out how we would rescue them were the maintenance team allowed in.
Fortunately nobody required rescuing today which is how I like it. 🙂

I did write another post with more pics and writeup but it disappeared so here's a shortened version because cannot be arsed to do it all over again.
After a good night with too much to drink and kicked out the pub at 11pm it was back to hotel for a shower then a good night's sleep.   Up for buffet breakfast to keep us going for the day we set off back up heartside with plenty one wheel hero antics Hopefully caught by the camera guy taking pics.

This guy couldn't do the whole weekend due to work so drove up from Leeds in his 306 to do the Sunday.

This one ended up stuck at the top for hours awaiting recovery,

We headed for Alnwick via Rothbury then up the coast and cut across to the finish at milfield cafe.
    A brace of fords.

And finally the group that have done all five runs, plenty more have come and gone but always had a good turn out into double figures.

There's benefits and drawbacks of running a daft old car on 100% veg oil .
One of the benefits is that fuel is 30p a litre. Handy in today's topsy turvy financial climate.
One of the drawbacks is that it's difficult to "fill up" by yourself. Meaning you have to rope the missus in to hold the funnel, then the wind gusts the stream splatter of oil across her face and you laugh so much that you can't control the 21 litre container properly and you pour further veg oil all over her arm.
This is of course, bad for your health.
So I stole @Out Runs great idea and set up a one man pouring operation.

I dont have a drill, but I got a C+ at improvising at school.

    You'll do.

    Y tho.

Whazzed a couple of speed holes in my BIG FUN-EL and bolted some big magnets on.

    Y Tho.

    That looks very sticky.

    Y Tho

Stickingit to the radiator showed how good the magnets were. Felt like the plastic funnel was going to snap trying to remove it from the rad. I might need something to pry it away from the body of the car.

As it turned out, the bodyline of the car curving away meant that just the bottom of the magnets were touching metal so they held solid but pulled away easily .
One man mobile filling station achieved.

Holds firm and works an absolute treat. Makes filling up a doddle.

Production values are not going to have any of our resident youtubers worrying about their ad income any time soon.
The camera ended up pointing kinda down throughout, I do look at the road when riding, honest.
The engine noise and wind combo sound like someone blasting gabba into a biffa bin through a blown speaker at some points, but there, VIDEO ENOUGH FOR YA?
Fun fact: the ANC sign at the start of the second vid points to the entrance of the Ashdene Naturist Club.
