  1. Thanks chaps....The current 16" alloys are looking a bit tatty, so was thinking of trying to find a set of the 16" steel wheels that were standard fitment on the NC MX-5 for it....Should make it look a little different, and in keeping with the utilitarian nature of my 6's duties....
  2. That's beautiful....Really miss my old 323f....Sadly I've nothing to swap for it....And no money!
  3. Hi all, My 6 estate needs wheels with a PCD of 5x114, with an offset of 35 to 45....Apparently. There are some wheels I'd like to get for it....If I can find some....But whilst they are 5x114, the offset is 55mm. What does this mean? Would they merely stick out by a few mm, or would they foul the suspension or summat?
  4. A grey Alfa 2600 Sprint....Probably not as nice as this one!
  5. Okay....We did say money no object: 1 - Mazda 323f GT....BG (Flip-light) model....Maybe painted in metallic brown or maroon, and lowered slightly on gold 15" Rota RBs, and re-trimmed in biege leather....Lovely! 2 - Mazda 6 2.2D 180 Sport Estate....White....Looks beautiful, drives nicely, well equipped, good performance and economy....All without being too flash. 3 - Mazda MX-5....NA (Flip-light) model....Looking exactly the same as my own (White, lowered slightly on gold 15" Rota RBs, with factory front spoiler), but totally sorted mechanically and supercharged, and with nice paintwork! 4 - Chapron DS21 Decapotable....Black, trimmed in red leather....Just beautiful. 5 - McLaren F1 GTR Longtail racer....In Gulf livery....Wouldn't even necessarily need to drive it: Just the noise from the exhaust is exquisite.
  6. Thankyou all for your kind words, both on here, and via PM....I didn't know whether I should write anything or not, but guess I just needed to get it off my chest. Condolences to Miss 155....I reckon I know how she's feeling....I'm a big, burly 40yo, and all I want is my Dad! Went down today....Doesn't look like he's left a will, and there are three long-lost sisters who're now probably gonna pop out of the woodwork after 24 years, so I can imagine the ball-ache ahead....For now though, I'm trying to concentrate on being grateful that he didn't suffer for weeks, months, years, and arranging a funeral that will do justice to a very kind, clever and inspiring man. R.I.P. Peter Barry 7/4/35 - 5/9/10 Thankyou all for listening.
  7. Life....And death....Sometimes it just doesn't seem fair. On July 25th of this year, my 62yo mother finally lost her 7 year long battle with throat cancer....A tall, attractive, lively, funny, and extremely compassionate woman, she fought bravely (with the help of her partner) against this evil disease, until finally, after a stroke, she was just laying in bed, barely able to open one eye....To me, at first, it was a relief to see her finally at rest, but in the weeks since I've found myself struggling to retain my composure at times....Feeling like I'm ready to explode....I've been looking forward to a two-and-a-half week break from work that I have coming up....Planning to relax....Just re-charge the batteries.... Yesterday, just 6 weeks after my mum's death, I return home from a weekend visiting Sam's family, and attending the christening of her nephew, in Oxfordhire, to find a Police Officer waiting for me....Here to inform me that my dad....My 75yo father, a fit, active man....Still motorcycling (BMW F800), still enjoying his car (a lightly modified Ford Puma)....A man that I love, respect, and admire immensely....Died suddenly at home yesterday morning....I'm utterly devastated. Ever felt alone? My partner wants to help, but my mind is totally blank and I don't know what to do....The person I've turned to for advice for the last 40 years is gone....Already, I miss him so much it hurts.... Sorry....Didn't really mean to depress everybody!
  8. Of the choices, Penny Mallory is definitely my least favourite....I find her visually unappealing (Unlike V B-H), and she talks utter bollocks....I once saw her raving about a Lamborghini Countach's "V8" engine....Just about sums her up really! I can see why Mike Brewer is there, but I do actually quite enjoy that programme where him and "His mate Ed" buy an old classic-ish car and tart it up....Notice that I don't enjoy it enough to be able to remember what it's called though! They did choose Brewer the front the I.O.M. T.T. coverage one year though, and that really was quite uncomfortable to watch, as he obviously didn't have a clue what he was on about....A bit like Jim Rosenthal when he presented the Formula One for ITV! My absolute least favourite, pet hate, presenter of a car show, though, is Jason Plato....What a knob....I can't even bear to see him win in BTCC....Just has one of those faces that I wanna slap!
  9. Me too....I used to buy myself one every so often, just to get my "fix"....They're too expensive for that nowadays! Okay....Now the pics of stuff that I saw around the paddock/car park/campsite....As I said earlier, it wasn't quite the Shitefest that I'd been anticipating, but here goes anyway.... Not Shite at all, obviously, but the only Audi (Apart from the UR quattro of course) that I like and, in Spyder form, probably the only "exotic" that I'd consider buying in the event of a lottery win. To follow, a few 2CVs as I like to see them....A bit tatty! And now, a few tidier examples: This one looked brilliant....Lowered, on those banded rims....Never found out whether it was standard or modified engine-wise though. This one was so beautiful, it deserves two pictures....For me though, a car this nice can never be fun, and that's what the 2CV is all about for me. And now, some vans: Our neighbours on the campsite. http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/C135.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/C136.jpg Dyane "Limo"....Could this be the shortest stretch in history? http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/C137.jpg Ami 2-door estate/van with windows was very nice. http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/C138.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/C139.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/C140.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/C141.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/C142.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/C143.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/F111.jpg Rather amusing Multipla camper....Had a kitchen and everything! http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/F112.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/F113.jpg Unmolested RS Cosworth....Lovely. http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/L111.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/M111.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/M112.jpg Included for selfish reasons....The number plate on this tidy MX-5 ends in "HRP", the same as mine....It gave me pleasure to think that this car may have been sold by "Norton Way Mazda" (Incidentally, the same dealer that serviced my Mazda 6 all through it's life) shortly after mine....I've noticed since however, that it's an import! http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/M113.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/M114.jpg A very un-standard looking Morris 1000. http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/N111.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/P111.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/S111.jpg Dunno why, but I do love a Subaru Legacy....Always shied away from buying one though....Can't imagine that they're terribly good on fuel. http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/T111.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/T112.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/T113.jpg Very pretty car. http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/T114.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/V111.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/V112.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/V113.jpg I think this looks great on it's rims....Think it may belong to a marshall, as I've seen it parked on the inside of Riches on a number of occasions now. http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/V114.jpg That's it....Nothing earth-shattering, but I hope you find something you like
  10. Better pic of the Ami (A two door estate???) to follow....I believe a couple of the 2CVers had trailer-tents, but no caravans this time....I have seen it done though!
  11. Heh heh....IIRC the Dolomite's driver was called Nigel, I don't think there are any unpleasant overtones there! The car park pics will follow, probably tomorrow....Overall I was quite disappointed at the level of Shite there....The event wasn't as heavily populated by 2CVers as I thought (And remembered, from my 2CV days), and the resultant overspill of other unusual french stuff was absent, sadly. Even the "Historic" Touring Car events were a slight disappointment....A look at the website, shows all manner of unusual stuff (Including a Toyota Corona), but again, most of that was missing....Maybe the fact that the racing was on a Saturday had summat to do with it, I dunno Anyway, that's really sold it to you....Bet you can't wait for the pics now!
  12. Now for some stripey Shite with rollcages: http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/H1.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/J1.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/J2.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/M1.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/M2.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/N1.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/P1.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/R1.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/R2.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/R3.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/R4.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/T1.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/T2.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/T3.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/T4.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/T5.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/V1.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/V2.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/Baz70/Album%202/V3.jpg More stuff, from around the Paddock/Campsites to follow soon.
  13. Previous partner (The one before my wife!) owned Austin Maxi, Austin Metro, Dacia Duster. Current one used to own a Renault Fuego.
  14. This weekend was the annual 24-Hour 2CV bash at Snetterton....Aside from a couple of hours' worth of rain in the early morning (When I was sleeping soundly in my £30 Asda tent! ), the weather was kind, and I remembered to take my camera for once! I'll start, if I may, with a few pics of the main event, to be followed (When I've had a little rest....During the week maybe) by pics of some sexy Shite from the support races, and of course stuff from the paddock/campsite/carparks....Plenty for the Citroen/2CV enthusiast, plus some other nice stuff....I hope you agree anyway Here goes, with a few of the 2CV racers for now: Team "Rent Boys"....The winning car. Second placed entry "Tete Rouge 2" Third went to "Team Stinky" Fourth placed "Team Tete Rouge" My tip for the top....Chosen because it looks just like an old pile of cack that I used to own. The choice of my partner, Sam....Chosen merely upon the basis of it's colour....There were no pink or purple cars entered! The "Gadget Racing" entry....Before and after it rolled in the night! The ingenuity of the 2CV racers is amazing....I'm pretty sure every car that started the race, crossed the line at the finish....Some of them only just, but they finished nonetheless! And finally, a few "Action" shots....The camera is new to me, and i don't fully understand it yet, so I was really just fiddling....I don't think any of these pics are technically really very good, but they please me: More pics of the other stuff I saw to follow soon.
  15. Was thinking more of stuff currently on sale....Surely the 166 must be pretty-much in Shite territory already?
  16. Nothing much this weekend, but next weekend I'm going to the 24 hour 2CV race at Snetterton with a tent and everything....The support races look good too: Historic Touring Cars and Thunder Saloons....
  17. It depends what you want from a bike really....After 24 years of motorcycling (on the road, and a further 8 years off-road before that), I've finally reached the conclusion that with bikes, modern is best for me....Classics are lovely to look at, but invariably they break down quite a lot, and worse than that, are often very uncomfortable to ride for any length of time....For years, I dreamt of a Mk1 Guzzi LeMans, and I was very happy to have it in the garage when I eventually got mine. Trouble is, that's mainly where it stayed, as it was an utter BITCH to ride! Likewise with my Morini, and virtually anything old, or non-Jap that I've owned. For anyone new to biking, I'd definitely recommend something modern....Leave the "character" bikes until you've honed your skills! I've been rather short of funds of late....Consequently, all I can afford is a 2002 Kawasaki ZR7-S....A very ordinary bike, but also very reliable (Starts first time every time - No mater how long it's been standing), incredibly comfy (650 miles in a day with no complaints at all) and very easy on the wallet too....I'm more than willing to hang on to it until I can afford that BMW R1200RT!
  18. My daily, and my MX-5, are going to be around for a while yet I hope....I may be persuaded into a BG Mazda 323f again though....If a nice one comes along while I happen to have a spare few quid in the bank....Love 'em!
  19. Oh, it's SMUGNESS is it?....I always assumed that Audi drivers were as they are because they've realised that they should have bought a BMW or Mercedes!
  20. I'm assuming that you mean bodystyles, but on a similar note, I was amused to discover while reading "Autocar" during a quiet moment at work last night, that Audi offer 97 different versions of the A5....NINETY-SEVEN!
  21. Those bloody stupid L.E.D. (Or whatever they are) "String of pearls" sidelights (Or whatever they are) on the front bumper of the Citroen DS3....Do they not switch off? They're ALWAYS on....Grrrr!!! Likewise with Audis....But then Audis and their drivers just irritate me on a whole different level!
  22. This is an old car site, we know that, but we have to assume that most of us are general "Car Enthusiasts", meaning we are also interested to some degree in moderns, "Proper" classics, exotica etc? Was just wondering what, if anything, you see driving about at the moment, and think "I'm gonna have one of those one day"....Here's my list of current cars that I hope to own once they're in my price range....The "Peanuts" price range, that is!: - Volvo C30....Especially in white. - Skoda Yeti....No idea why, but I just want one! - Saab 9-5....The new one. Looks fantastic....Even though it isn't. - Mazda 6 Sport....Again, in white preferably. - Mazda 2 3-door....Super little car. - Hyundai Grandeur....See Shitebarges thread elsewhere. - Citroen C6....Soooo desirable. - Alfa Spider....I know they're rubbish....Very pretty though. All of the above will turn my head, without fail, whenever I see one....Anything doing it for you at the moment?
  23. Saw a Fiat Croma up close the other day....A bit too close....He was towing a Vauxhall Cavalier, and waiting to enter the roundabout that I was negotiating....I dunno if he forgot that he was towing or summat, but he saw me coming, and before I could slow to allow them out, he decided that he was going anyway, and lurched away, virtually smoking his front tyres, snapping the rope, leaving the Cavalier stranded, and then stopped, right in front of me in the middle of the roundabout....Shite driving, in a shite car! I'm sorry, but I absolutely LOVE that Grandeur....I think I'm even gonna order a brochure! That's gonna be one rare and desirable piece of shite in 25 years time....The Talbot Tagora of 2035! One that hasn't been mentioned yet of course, is the truly magnificent Citroen C6....I'm sure in a few years time, many of us will be tempted to nearly bankrupt ourselves for one....I still stop, and stare open mouthed when one drives past....An utterly desirable car....Just like the CX.
  24. None of your list appeals to me personally....Although I did have a 75 V6, which was a fantastic car....Have you considered going Japanese/Korean? I've only recently seen the light with the Jap stuff....There's so much out there that's cheap, reliable, practical, different, and surprisingly fulfilling to own!
  25. Recently spotted a couple of sure-fire future shite flagships: Yesterday, I followed an '08 plate Toyota Camry saloon along the Acle Straight....It had a square rear plate with those slightly smaller digits, and was generally weaving about, so I'm guessing that it's a U.S. model, driven by an idiot U.S. Airman or summat....Certainly a very handsome looking beast, that I've not seen before. Also, a couple of weeks ago, in Gulidford, I saw a really quite striking, large Hyundai Saloon....Badged "Grandeur" IIRC....Is that a genuine UK car, sold by a Hyundai dealer? Again, I've never seen one before, but I'm keen to see another! Maybe I should start carrying a camera to record these moments!
