Jesus, look at the size of the motor in that Mini!
  2. You need to go for the sextuplet by adding a Skoda, Bentley and Lamborghini. As @Alusilber said, there are some known rust spots on these. The roof rails are the other ones. There was a 160 page thread on one of the forums about all the 8L rust repairs under warranty (gesture of goodwilll from Audi so no paperwork and no warranty claim). I had about £2k worth of work down to my 9 year old a3, a car that I had bought for £1k with no service history. I’d wager that if yours is clean, then it’s had the “gesture of goodwill”.

  4. The charger in the car converts AC to DC and splits it’s output to all the batteries. I didn’t see any BMS (battery management system) kit on the cells so I’d like to think there’s some BMS functionality in the charger. However the car is a bit shit so who knows.
  5. I suspect that boot release location makes more sense on a left hand drive car.
  6. I hope the track’s easier to navigate than their written communications. Prior to lockdown I worked every other weekend and had every Monday off, I’m due back to work very soon but I don’t know what the shift pattern will be nor how long before it gets back to normal.
  7. I suspect its more their shonky recovery operation, after all if the drifter hits the wall forward you pull him out backwards and vice versa. I can't see some wee lad from Fife doing the full Russ Swift and parallel parking his badly painted e36 between a Sierra 1.6L and a Cavalier 1.6L. And yes, assuming this happens, and assuming you're allowed to get in the car I'll give you a run down the road.
  8. As a BMW owner I dutifully read the safety stuff. Whilst I agree with requirement for recovery points, i think their exclusion of screw in hooks (because they don't like being recovered at angle - most recovery pints are designed for a straightish pull) would apply to almost all modern cars. Slightly curious as to why they've pulled so many at angles... I'd also question that if must have recovery hooks, why do they have T&Cs relating to recovering cars without hooks?
  9. Aren’t they all broken at the moment?

  12. Because it’s easier and cheaper to start with a knackered Land Rover Discovery, the shonky panel fit and questionable electrics are fitted at the factory in Solihull.
  13. Put my name on the interested list please.

If it’s round the corner, go and see it. We’ve all got a lot more time in our hands at the moment . you could probably get most of your money back by breaking it for parts if it went wrong further down the line.
  15. Like a lot of things, I think its simple once you understand how it all works. I think starting with an electric car is probably easier than converting (no ECU / can bus shenanigans required) but I'm not sure the MegaCity is the best base. Here's the chap who's going to stick that 100bhp Outlander motor into a Twizzy (17bhp from factory). And here's Damien doing drivetrain number 3 (in 8 years) in his e39
  16. There’s a chap on YaTube! called Damien McGuire who ran a DC forklift motor in his e39 5 series for four years. The OpenInverter and DIYElectricCar forums are worth a look, there’s a lot of very useable hardware coming out of broken hybrids at the moment.
  17. Does the axiam have an AC or DC motor, if its DC you'll be able to do a very cheap upgrade. Not an "LS swap" like they do in the US but an "FL swap".
  18. I'm sure that Swindon thing is lovely, but if I was going to do some EV fettling and wanted a 100bhp motor and integral transverse gearbox I'd be looking to spend a lot less. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MITSUBISHI-OUTLANDER-Differential-2000-Petrol-Auto-PHEV-F1E1A2B52-2016-24460/113782043724?hash=item1a7df0344c:g:DqMAAOSwUBJdAnQz
  19. If you're never going to use that dishwasher you could go the whole hog and clean a diesel egr valve and inlet manifold. I'm actually curious as to whether a dishwasher could manage that.
