  1. I really can't remember on the gearbox filler........last xud box I had dealings with was in a 305 van 30 years ago! The main thing was about just putting the measure amount in because I hadn't come across that before........and filled it up. Driver came back next day and it was dripping in oil! Are you sure fuel lines are clear as that looks/sounds like lack of fuel. I would go ripping a pump apart either.......far too many things to go ping
  2. On the gearbox oil you just put the correct measured quantity in. If you fill to the filler plug it will throw it out the breather and the driveshafts with distribute it beautifully. i think the Bosch/CAV type varies fuel delivery by changing the angle of the swash plate. What happens when you give it some throttle?
  3. So come on then.......which one you gonna buy?
  4. Oil leak from front is very often the half moon seal not front crank seal. Easy when engine out but couple of hours work when in car but if swapping the box you'll have to change it anyway.....it is the front seal on gearbox and butts up to the rear of timing case
  5. not exactly a lack of spaces though......why get tweaked about it?
  6. Lovely looking thing the marina coupe..........and I always liked those under bumper reverse lamps too.
  7. Beer and gin covered it! that camera certainly shows the air intake hole under the headlight nicely.............
  8. Looks very nice in that pic..... 1200 miles? About time you gave it an oil change lovely old car though
  9. That Caddy soft top looks cheap.......well in the catalogue anyway
  10. There is a meet on the 28th at Weedon..........great venue and apparently gets good mix of cars. Also on the 29th at Brackley.........I went to this last year and it was good so planning to go again as long as it is not pissing down
  11. Maybe a good idea to get the thermostat closer to the head though? Otherwise it could be a bit late getting the message to open
  12. Fuck appearing mercenary. It is yours......ok the tickets were a gift but should not come with conditions. sell it for best price and buy the van. Best price would also allow a charitable donation so all boxes ticked. Crazy to sell it low and then put actual money into the van ffs
  13. Just do it......people pay more than that for secondhand German chavwagons! (above statement does contain some irony)
  14. Ignore him.......buy it! that merc is clearly getting unreliable.
  15. Ah right. That hose is bit iffy.... Not as bad as pump to header tank one though. Still.....at least you are building up a nice shopping list after ticking off everything on the last one.
  16. Amazing result.....especially considering was stood a year. Looks great in the 'best side on' pic too That water leak....wet water or coolant type water?
  17. It actually looks respectable in that picture! so where is the write up on fitting a choke cable?
  18. Really? Seemed straightforward so please explain
  19. This. Absolutely no need for an engine change 'to keep up with modern traffic' or some other bollocks. Mind you i think the bloke that built it made the new cam and did it from a piece of bar using only a hand file.........
  20. So what do the the actual bearings and crank surface look like? These pics seem to show a con rod with no shells in......and the back of the shells that are still on the crank?
  21. Well done on getting that car..........and like you say it absolutely has to be a keeper. Enjoy every mile. well worth getting a loan for too
  22. I'd do the pre booked thing without a qualm...... But would give it a good check before departure to make sure I wasn't going to die in it
  23. You do get a few moderns...........and other types of stuff I'm not that keen on..........but easy enough to walk past and ignore
  24. I should be there just before 6. No one else going then?
