  1. I bought half a dozen from eBay. Cheap enough, around six quid apiece I think. All OK except mine that had a defective pressure gauge that showed either zero or forty psi, they replaced it without question. That was three years ago and all work well. My grandson bought an 'RAC' one that is a pile of crap.
  2. I have a 'recall' tumble dryer. They came and did whatever it was they had to do within a week. Currently not in use, don't use it much anyway but the condensate pump just gurgles. It is waiting it's turn for fixing, the Bosch washer comes first. Ordered new inlet solenoid valves two months ago, out of stock. It has a bit of a rebellious streak. Often turns on the extra rinses so takes two hours for a 40° wash. It won't do a 20° or 30° wash, just keeps pausing and has to be restarted. 40° it is then.
  3. Sat on this, dressing gown got trapped under a leg. Lifted up to free it, pulled it out rom under me and collapsed in a heap. Could have gone worse.
  4. Haven't followed the trial at all but just saw this:
  5. Looks remarkably like Lill Lindfors who was on lots of Volvo adverts. (Swedish singer)
  6. She was the subject of the film "Death Of A Centerfold" after her murder by her boyfriend. She was centerfold in an edition of Playboy.
  7. Almost a year since I last had a haircut. Daughter does it, former hairdresser but now a baker. She's usually pushed for time and lives 40 miles away, don't like to bother her. Haven't been able to use a normal barber due to the perfumy stuff in there but perhaps my activated charcoal Covid mask will make that a possibility. Must research that as I have difficulty seeing where I am going when it is breezy.
  8. Mine has dropped from almost fifty mpg's to 30.1.
  9. Our council did publish figures of how profitable the recycling was. Certainly worth doing. I only put a bin out every couple of months. Live alone and very little waste except I cut a pallet up a bit back and buried it in a bin. Another time, a pair of tall steps that fell to bits. Woodworm. They never seem to look at what the contents are. Possibly due to the bribe... er, Christmas present they get from me.
  10. I wonder if that applies to their Food Warehouse?
  11. We have been quite lucky with schools. All were only half a mile at most. when we moved here, they built a new school in the field at the back of the house we had lived in. Just jump over the fence and they would have been in. The one here is ¼ mile straight up the road, or to avoid the road two alternative routes, through the houses or beside the park, all roughly equal distance. And when they went to secondary school, 0.6 miles through the park. Still have neighbours who take their kids to the two schools in cars though. Next door takes son to the secondary at 08:35, returns and takes daughter to primary at 08:45. They are 15 and 9.
  12. Our bin men are very accommodating, very rare that they refuse to empty a bin or take anything left in bags. Next door are fairly useless with their recycling. Fail miserably to squash pop bottles etc so the bin is always overflowing and their crap blows all over the street. Last week they had half a dozen large boxes and some sheets of cardboard. They were ignored so still outside for next week. Be interesting to see how that is going to work. I have told them previously that if the boxes are collapsed and bound that they will be taken. One of the boxes was full of dinner plates. A roaming mob of teenagers set to and smashed them on the footpath. He came out yelling at them, then sent her out to clean up the mess. They always seem to have problems with unwanted items, that can be left outside for weeks. They have two cars and the local recycling centre is three miles away. The council will also collect bulky items, up to six large items, for a tenner. Just spotted this re: school traffic - Parent traffic banned from Newcastle school drop off area Show it to your local councillor Zel.
  13. I seem to have made a mess of it. Opted to pay by debit card and it used PayPal anyway, despite being told not to.
  14. Just had the one on my staircase give up the ghost. It has been on continuously for over five years, so at least 44,000 hours.
  15. I wish my Civic would do that. The best that I have managed was going to the CCC Northern in Wetherby last week. 49.2 mpg. Since then son has been around Yorkshire in it and it has fallen to 47.6, which is still far better than we usually manage.
  16. Could be air (nitrogen) in the system, may need bleeding.
  17. It thinks that you are just buttering it up.
  18. It knows about the XM and is envious.
  19. The signature jump used by Victor Blackman of the Daily Express in so very many of his photo's.
  20. I recently had a new rear plate made at a local autoshop, Wrekenton Autospares. Needed a spare for the bike rack. Ten minutes, £8!
  21. If you have a P45 or P60 it will be on there IIRC
