  1. Yep , strange idea , mines had sound deadening fitted which has helped a bit , still shite though
  2. Top purchase right there , my old boss had a Diesel one as a town runabout , this leaked everywhere and often filled up with rainwater . I remember one freezing cold January morning he sent me out in it to pick sommat up . Couldntnt drive it though as there was 2 inches of solid ice all over the floor
  3. Had a 64 one the same colour _ ish and I agree , i also had a Sunbeam Stiletto - the Imp version of a Cooper Mini , so much better in every way that i sold the Mini and have had versions of Imps ever since
  4. Its got the full sportline suspension / wheels etc but not the interior , code for suspension is 650 , full " all of it " is 950 . this is a 650
  5. So im a twatting ejit . Got the cheap alloy spare and had a new tyre fitted then noticed the NSR tyre going down . Nae bother il fit me new spare except --- Wrong feekin offset so it sticks out enough to potentially rip the arch off . so gotta find another wheel but at least this time im not guessing - because part number and offset taken off the leaky wheel . So still no spare wheel
  6. Todays debacle Sorting oot the antifreeze . Hasnt been changed for years and looked like mud . So it will run blue or red antifreeze from what i can tell and this was running red - seeing as my other cars run blue and ive got a proper mix strength tester thought it best to flush the whole system oot and go blue . Cue lots of hose action , back flushing etc etc and finally the whole system ran clear . Expansion bottle had loads of crud in the bottom so thought id remove it and clean it . What fun that was - mainly the reservoir low warning plug was seized solid - loads of lube and prying with a tiny screwdriver got it off whereby i noticed a wire broken off . Had to re solder this ( with an iron way too hot as it turns out ) and got it back together . Shorting out the two terminals proved the circuit for the washers and rad worked as the light on the dash burst into life . No idea if the floats work but thats for another day less raining and cold . Need to top up the system once its cooled a bit .
  7. Yep , got the hump in the plastic cover and the carpet , couldnt find a shallower washing up bowl for the wheel though , seems you just didnt get one
  8. Abject bodgery . So the car came with a rusty steel spare with a tyre the wrong size dated 95 with more cracks than a busted window . Anyhoo i did get a proper alloy spare and got the correct sized tyre fitted so all good there . However the washing up bowl holder inner / junk pot dont fit anymore , alloys too deep so the threaded bit wont reach and also the the tops too high so you cant close the spare wheel cover 😳 So to the bodge bit . First off cut the washing up bowl so it actually fits lower than the new wheel . The top you cut off will fit over it still . Fit bowl and bang it down so it hits the wheel and the top does the same . fix in place with some trim clips / nuts and bolts / self tappers / chewing gum - whatever you got really . In the middle of the original threaded mount it used to screw too theres an M8 thread - I just made a bolt with a handle and used this . Result - all fits together well , i still have the washing up bowl / junk pot fixed in place with the correct alloy
  9. Got the whole washer system working , new pipes , one new pump ( headlight one ) and connected some random wires back together that were poking out the bonnet , probably wash jet heaters but ive no way of testing if the work
  10. WOW , You seem to be having issues with the 190 , im learning a lot - important since i bought a 2.6 one a week ago , as for route canal you got out of that one but into the busted tooth extaction , i had one removed a year or so ago and got sommat called " dry socket " after the extraction - MAN THE PAIN !!!!! , For a week solid .
  11. YAY YAY YAY - Its got 412 , 470 , 600 , 620 , AND 650 , You Sir are my hero The W203 is getting sold on , tricky to sell a car just before Crimbo though so in January il do a bit of a sales thing
  12. Figured it wasnt a sportline before i bought it , bad of Bonhams not to confirm the sportline bit , they just took the sellers word - dodgy stuff
  13. It was for sale at Bonhams a while back ( i didnt buy it from here ) , you want pics , heres a shite load of em https://carsonline.bonhams.com/en/listings/mercedes-benz/190e-26-sportline/e625e979-4b9b-495f-b2b6-05781a84b1db
  14. Couldnt resist . 1991 190E 2.6 in some kind of light metallic blue Questionable history - Sportline badges when its not one - whats not to like Still its got 12 months ticket , runs well and the interior is lovely . More to follow once i get my bonce around it 😁 Anyone want my 56 reg C180K Avantgard - MOTed til August next year , running well - everything works ( unless you fill it past 3/4 whereby it honks of fuel )
  15. YAY Another C180K waftmobile on here , stored codes arnt important AFAIK , Its the current ones you need to look at , often a right good ragging clears things up , mine had a sticky rattly lifter , read up on horror stories and nigh on shat myself then a mate said rag it one and it will sort itself out - sure enough it did . you can buy proper MAF cleaner so that might be a shout . Also read up on the chain issue and felt like i needed therapy afterwards - its been fine though . poor idle or pulsing idle is deffo an air leak , had that too
  16. Its a dying art but not dead , I work for an electrical rewinders and we do tonnes of stuff for the military , plus old car stuff going right back to the 20s , yeh we rewind almost zero mains motors nowadays ( cheap Chinese inports killed that off ) but anything rare / not available new or just plain obsolete still gets done . Plus I rewind all the bits for my 60s cars - starter , wiper motor plus upgrade alternators --- we are still about
  17. Dad had one of these - Datson 180B bluebird - DYA 845T IIRC , Learnt to drive in it
  18. Well i sorted it by sawing the head off the bolts , took an hour a side with just a blade and a proper handle for it , A right bastard to get the nuts on tother side but it does prove its do able without dropping the subframe . Like an idiot i forgot to take a pic with the wheel off so just poked the camera in the general direction . Also a pic of the lower one ive changed
  19. Back on it . The advisories did say " all rear suspension components corroded " so thought id take a peak . Sure enough its all a bucket of rot , subframes not bad just surface rust but all the control arms , camber arms and all the other arms are rotten looking with nasty lookin bushes fitted - heck its got more arms than Shiva . So you can get the kits cheapish enough so ive ordered some bits . There is a massive issue on fitting one though ( well two if you count both sides ) . You see MB decided to fit one bolt tother way around so said bolt wont come out as it hits the bodywork. Apparently its a subframe drop job --- All for ONE bolt 🤔 No feekin way am i doing that - il hatch a plan - hopefully involving a hacksaw Pic isnt the one on my car but it shows the " issue "
  20. Well in utter madness ive had yet another MOT done 5 months early so my stepson can use it and i know its safe for him . Needed two lower control arm thingies and 4 tyres . still it will live another 12 months at least ( unless said stepson borks it one )
  21. My 86 E30 318i did ten years with almost zero care towards it on my part , only sold as every panel was rotten , it is being fully restored by its new owner , So go 80s for BMW if you want a totally reliable rot box
