It only went and passed!  Advisories for front tyres and slight play in one inner rack joint.  And I think the tester chose not to look at the front number plate given that it hadn'f failed on anything else.  In any case that will be replaced this afternoon.

Will update its own thread and start a for sale/roffle thread but £220 to the OP here (or any other shiter).  My aim has only been to stop it being scrapped and get back what it's cost me.  To be honest Burnside's Fiesta looks a nicer car, but the Clio is cheaper and in Norfolk!

I never sold this in the end, it's been mouldering on my in-laws drive for the last year:

I think it fits most of your criteria. I was going to finally pull my finger out and do the undersealing and clean it up prior to listing it on ebay anyway, and the MOT is out in two days, so would take it up for another one, which it should pass assuming the brakes haven't seized up or whatever.

Great to see this Rover still going long may it continue.

Not sure if it's of use but I've used this company before and found them to be good for older car repair panels. Link shows what they currently list as available for the R8.

If you speak to them direct they can sometimes supply panels and bumpers etc which aren't listed on the website.

Failing that as the R8 shares it's DNA with the Honda Concerto this one breaking on ebay might be of use for the windscreen and repair panels needed?

So this has gone into some nice heated storage for the winter.

Haven’t got room to store it at home, it’s an extra cost really but didn’t want it outside all winter. Luckily the storage is like 30secs from work so I can still get to it really easy.

It’s still running crap when hot, then turned on and off, new fuel pump, new leads, moved the coil away from the manifold.

Had a J reg 19 GTS-X Hatch in Met Grey almost 10 years ago now and can't recommended this enough. Brought mine for £250 from a scrap yard as it was too good to see crushed. Gave it to my brother as I had no need for it at the time and he needed wheels. He kept it a year and sold it on for £350 I wish he hadn't though.

Hope it stays in the fold as this deserves a good home. If I had the space to home it I'd have it myself as rightly mentioned yellow fogs = winners.

This won't be to everyone's taste, I'm not even sure it's to mine, but I've tried to make the Vaux Vic look more like the bling it was influenced by. Base plate to be glued once paint has cured, and maybe glass unit to be re-instated, maybe.

Faults hidden from the camera's eye as per!

The ex D Spares & Tyres Mk1 Clio is going for MOT tomorrow.  See thread below

    http://autoshite.com/topic/32737-sexy-french-beauty-lost-in-norfolk-clio-saved/

OK, so it's French and doesn't have power steering (but in my opinion doesn't need it), but it fulfils your other criteria (including being in Norfolk, just).  Will also be significantly less than £400 to a shiter assuming an MOT can be obtained for not much cost.

Couldn't resist a good old pick at the rear valance....

Pieces of metal have been tacked on and wobbed over, it took a decent amount of biffing with a hammer to break it, but I would imagine it being a bit 'cornflakes box" in an accident.

The front seats, centre console and assorted trim pieces were removed to allow the carpets to come out.

A long time was spent vacuuming all the dog hairs and other crap out of the carpets - they came up pretty nicely.

Had a look under the underlay and found a Stanley knife blade that had stuck itself to the foam part of the underlay. I assume that it was left in there during assembly, as nothing appears to have been disturbed inside the car until now
