Looking at my March/April 2000 Parkers Guide. The highest UK spec listed, was the 1.5 GLX. Spec included Central Locking , Leccy front windows, Alloys, Velour Trim.

Nice looking Escort there. I really like the wheels and spoiler personally, as it reminds me of how I use to see them as a kid back in the early 90's. A friend of mine restored a original UK 1978 MK2 Escort 2dr 1.1 about 15+ years ago. He brought it from another friend of ours for just £150, it was full of the usual glass fibre and paper mache repairs. The only two panel that weren't rotten, was the roof and boot lid! The bulkhead was the worst panel on it, as the dash and heater box just came off without any fixings being removed.

Whatever they 'based' it on, it all shite in my book anyway.

Mine's up to £335 a year now, plus my Car will only run on E5 pez which is another bloody rip off. Yet they class my car as Ulez compliant for nearby Birmingham. But if I had the so called evil polluting Diesel Version, I'd pay just £210 Road Tax and be better off fuel cost / MPG wise too. So it just proves what a load of old bollocks this all is on the environmental angle. Can't wait for my Insurance renewal in May, to see what shit they come out with too. Still whatever happens in the future with the soring costs of motoring, they won't get me back on public transport or worse in a fucking EV.

Been over to Enviro Strip in Tamworth [which has featured in Car S.O.S], as my Brother needs a few panels to be treated before fitting etc. Thankfully Tim Shaw wasn't there, but a bloody great big pothole hidden by the rain caught the bottom of my Stilo front bumper. Good job it already has a few scars, but it still pissed me off ! Had a nice chat with one of the staff there about our Fiat's and cars in general though. Apparently Fuzz Townsend owns a MK1 Fiat Multipla, which I guess is the one in the background of his workshop in a few episodes. Hopefully the panels should be ready for collection next week, then I can make a return trip [ avoiding the holes ] and let the bodyshop do there thing.

Remember seeing this film at the cinema, some of these scenes were filmed in the UK too. The Sun Newspaper had pictures of the BMW 750i being fired through a window.

Nothing sad about wanting a Malaga, I think there ace! Only a few years ago, there was someone on this very forum who spent years trying to find a RHD Renault 14. A few people said no chance, but they manged to find four cars before buying one of them. So anything possible.

That's really interesting about the Malaga, hopefully someone can shed some light on it. Back in the late 90's there was a D reg Black Malaga 1.5 GLX that lived near me. It was pretty rusty along all four door's, but it lasted until around 2000. I was really disappointed when it went, as even then I knew it was unlikely I'd see another.

I nearly brought a similar one for my first car, at a back street garage for £95 with about 5 mins Mot but someone beat me to it! Remember these use to rust quite badly on the front wings, but pattern replacements were readily available back then. Love to see more pictures of this, I bet it's been 20 years since I last saw one on the road.

Ah yes, that's right I remember now as my first car was a 1986 Talbot Samba Style. It had to have side repeaters and a passenger mirror fitted, which the pre 86 model didn't and rear seatbelts too? Also thinking back now to my childhood, a friend of my Dad's had a very clean White Astra Club edition complete with it's lairy interior and a ex Royal Fail Sherpa as his work van.

Great purchase I've always had a soft spot for the MK2 Astra as a kid, although I've only owned it's main rival a MK4 Escort! Funny enough I'd been watching this myself, as I remember it being for sale a few years ago locally on Car and Classic. If memory severs me right, the rear comedy arch / sill repairs weren't finished and the passenger wing was still in primer. Bonus points to whoever painted that wing since, without bothering to drill a hole for the side indicator first.😂 Overall though looks a great little project, look forward to seeing the updates on it.

Our Panda 4X4 we brought for my Sister gained it's 2nd Mot with us Today.😁 Got some advisories to take care of but honestly can't grumble at all. Still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it!

If you live near a Range store, they usually stock Hycote Paint if you don't want to wait for a Battered Grey Transit or Sprinter Van to arrive! To find a first year D reg Sierra Sapphire in unmodified condition this day and age, I reckon you've done alright tbh. My Grandad had a G reg Sierra 1.8 LX Hatch as a company car, it was a small Printing Firm and they couldn't afford to replace it. So he covered over 300k in about 7/8 years before they finally got brought out, I remember the rear arches and doors were pretty scabby by then.

1995 If I'm trying to keep a vehicle going for 250,000, then I would go for a last of the line Vauxhall Cavalier 1.7 Derv CDX Hatchback. If I didn't have to worry about covering 250,000 though, then a Alfa Romeo 155 2.0 TS. Today no idea as I don't have any interest in modern cars and the only ones I'd consider would be outside the budget.

The only Estate car I've owned so far, is my current one. A previously very unloved and beat up 2006 Fiat Stilo. Was only suppose to be a temporary car, but four and half years later it's still here! Has been really handy for moving Furniture and Car parts and even just today, for dumping tat down the tip. Without doubt having a Estate car is the best move I could have made and certainly won't be my last one.

Congrats on the purchase. Two of my Uncle's had 205's back in the 90's. One had a Black H reg 1.9 GTI and the other had a Silver F reg 1.6 CTI. My Uncle's 1.9 seamed to go rather well, when he took us out as a 10 year old. Although I didn't let onto my Mum at the time! If I could afford one myself, I'd have a Miami Blue or Laser Green 1.9 GTI maybe with a set of TSW Hockenheim alloys.

Managed to pick up these two French beauties in 1:43 off ebay last week. First one is a Talbot Horizon by Altaya, which has been on my want list for some time. Annoyingly the seller didn't pack it well, so the perspex case got damaged. Thankfully the model itself is ok and I'm really liking the colour, will go nicely with my Talbot Samba model when I can find it! Second purchase was this Norev Peugeot 405 SRI, managed to get this one for £24 posted. Which I thought wasn't too bad, so snapped it up. Overall it's not a bad effort, some details are slightly wonky if I'm being picky but overall I'm pleased with it.

Saw this rather nice looking land yacht today, a Plymouth Fury III. Never seen one up close before, but definitely would if I could!

Can also vouch for the Getz, worked at a Car Hire company where one of the employees used to abuse everything he drove! He used to thrash a pair of these 1.1 Getz's and I mean thrash them. I think he reached a 111mph flat out in both, he used to redline them through every gear too. Unlike the Ford's, Rover's, Vauxhall's even Mitsubishi's they never broke once. These cars will forever have my respect, for being tough and also fun little cars to drive imo, I'd happily have one myself if I was in the market. I also once had a miserable job working at a Nissan dealer as a valeter. But the only good part was that I got to drive all the old part exchanges too. Had a early Skoda Favorit in one day, same shade of Green as this one pictured below. Expect with rotten rear arches and rusty wheels. Nobody else wanted to be seen driving it, so I thought I'd drive it back to the valeting site. Mainly as it would make a change from yet another Micra. Drove much nicer than I expected, handled well too on the mixed budget tyres it sat on. Cleaned up well and with a quick splash of wheel silver on the rims, it sold for £300 almost straight away. I owned a Ford Escort MK4 1.4L. Brought it when I was really desperate for a cheap working car. Paid £150 with 6 months Mot, but it was rough looking! Similar to this one, expect rust on every panel including round the sunroof and a dented offside wing. Had it for about 12 months and it never put a foot wrong, even got me through a flooded road that wrote off 3 cars. [including a brand new Range Rover] Was a typical Ford, engine felt lively with a nice gearchange and decent handling. Was nothing about it that was particularly amazing, but it did just A to B without fuss. Was really gutted to sell it though, I'd have another if I could afford to buy a tidy one.

I couldn't quite believe it when I first opened it. Top marks to the supplier though, they just sent us another set with the correct sides no questions. So now I have half a caravan, one complete caravan and two Astra's! I'll post some pictures, when the complete kit is done. Just waiting on some paint, as hopefully I can add a few details without making a mess of it. I'll build the second Astra but hopefully with a wheel swap. Undecided on the half caravan at the minute, but if someone fancies a challenge. Let me know and it's yours.

On the Caravan front, my Brother kindly brought me this for my B'day last month. A 1:87 Herpa minikt with a MK2 Astra / Opel Kadett E hatch. Anyone see the one problem I have with assembly though?

Managed to pick up these two Majorettes at TK Maxx Tamworth. Really pleased to get the Suzuki Swift. Had the 500 just to go with the previous version they did. The other Majorettes I passed on here. Also had this nice Jimmy for £14.99 that I was tempted with, but decided against it. Hopefully I don't regret that later!

Thanks for the extra info just looked it up myself. Odd that they have different PCD's though. Update on the Stilo. The new bottle arrive yesterday via DPD. Left a note on the order for the courier to leave in porch, if no answer. DPD ignored the note on the parcel and leaves it with my neighbours who then went out before I got back. Also for some reason DPD left the front porch door wide open. Twat. So today after alot of agro I've fitted the new bottle. Had to replace the crap Fiat pinch clips as every one broke on removal. Took forever to bleed it afterwards. Also not impressed with the new bottle, definitely China shite not oe as described. Cap doesn't thread on nicely but least it's drivable again. Still least it didn't rain!
