Yup. I means, it's 9 years not 15 but still....

How much is in it? It's mostly separated by now - the heavier stuff, gum and varnish will be the stuff to shift. I'd be highly suspicious of the pump if it's been left low. I'd take the tank out (unless there is a drain plug) and clean it manually. Blow the lines out. Pump clean through until it runs clean.

New fuel pump and sender unit arriving Monday. Two fuel filters ready to go. Big pile of shitty French shit plastic shit clips et al to attempt to put 'back'. ๐Ÿคจ

That's the dregs of the tank (pumped out) mixed with 20 litres of finest E10. So, yeah, it's fucking fucked, mate. Let this be a lesson to always fill it. Always run it. Except I suspect the previous owner had pegged it.

Lovely. Doesn't smell anything like petrol.

Fuel pressure drops after a second or so. Fuel filter removed-still the same. Out she comes then.

So it's back together and timed up. Cranks, no clattering. No start. Slight cough once. Let's check the fuel (after rechecking valve timing, clearances and plugs. Yeah. No.

Sort of shown- Valves stripped, cleaned and seated. Not shown. New gaskets, new headbolts. New belt to go on after it starts and runs... Ah.

Exhibit A. 45k. Parked up sometime in 2007. Mot'd Nov 2022. New ditchfinders. New back box. Oil change. Used until valves jammed open. Glued basically.

Rears on these still have those ridiculous friction adjusters? Half worn is worn out. Seconded on the pcd / offset stressing stuff. Your call, but I'd double check that they're not banded . Seen some right disasters

True, but then it's less of a forum? Good point either way. Me or OP ? I dont change often.... Anyway - nice colour, don't see many left anywhere these days, rot and lack of maintenance etc etc. On that note ...

And yeah, what BI said - I don't give a shit what heshetheyetc want to call themselves, if I'm going to be non - complimentary about a car or stuff done to it I will, if it's on a public forum it's fair game - you dont get to make rules up to suit you unless it's by consensus. Or force. And vice-versa. I'd say obviously but it's not anymore.

    Ha. You're new, obviously

Nice - suit it. The 'Fiat' ones look like they have weld marks, might just be shadow but..hopefully not. The scrub radius is miles out - any other changes to allow it to, say, turn and brake predictably or just Stance! Yo! etc ?

You sure they're not banded ?
  17. Get the ride height checked - also ask the garage if they calibrated height*. Airbags or compressor worn/water crystal need changing, the latter being critical on older cars. Code would be helpful (obviously). * flat, level surface, tape measure and decent diag kit. Transformed mine.
  18. The plastic Britool sump replacement is brilliant. Filter change is now just a pain ๐Ÿ˜. I'd get rack sorted before steering angle sensor. Don't for get the brake lamp bulbs ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  19. Two flow sensors. One inlet, one return. Somewhat cruder/more fabrication required but do-able. ๐Ÿ˜
  20. If you want to do a comparative test get live data from ECU (EGT, EGR duty cycle, Inj duration, MAP etc). Drive at 20mph in 2nd @ X rpm . Repeat at same indicated road speed in 3rd @ Y rpm. Note readings. Get calculator. Get busy. ๐Ÿ˜. Bear in mind formation of NoX is directly related to cylinder combustion temperature. Cool cylinder (water, EGR, low compression ratio) = massive reductions. You may find that higher engine rpm (then just off idle for example) uses relatively less fuel as it's more likely to be in the peak torque range which roughly equates to most go for fuel supplied. EGT readings are your friend here. And so on... Then do all that again but display injector duration and rail pressure then drive in the gear/throttle position that displays the 'shortest' and run into the back of the vehicle in front whilst watching your 'Emission-o-meter', but in an economic, low emission manner ๐Ÿ˜Ž
