  1. Ahh! Ive seen that so many times, it was usually in the Leisure centre car park, sort of suited it. I knew I should have got a photo of it.
  2. Tar for the kind comments, there must be something in the air right now as there seems to be quite a healthy amount of shite out at the moment, Im discovering local cars Ive never even seen before.... And the Musuem with the Polonez is Atwell Wilson, the very place discussed as a meet venue down south. Anyway have some more. 1978 Honda Civic 125 Automatic Hatchback. by bramm77, on Flickr 1995 Quantum 1.6 Coupe Kit Car. by bramm77, on Flickr 1987 Volvo 340 GLE Hatchback and friend. by bramm77, on Flickr 1971 Vauxhall Viva HC Saloon. by bramm77, on Flickr 1977 Austin Allegro 1100 Deluxe. by
  3. Thank god for that! Okay, so Ill admit for a short while I felt slightly sorry for him, but seriously, he didnt have a clue about anything and seemed to think recycled knowledge was the best way to scale the 'ranks' on this forum, but missed out on the personality (i.e. he was completely devoid of it). Roll on the days where we will all chuckle (or grimace) when a new member sees a reference to it and asks what it is about. Someone is going to read this thread one day and end up pretty confused as well.
  4. Certainly been having a bit of luck recently when it comes to spots, along with the fact I have way more free time means I am getting more shots than ever before, heres hoping you see something of interest amongst this lot. Obviously most of these are from Basingstoke/London. 1992 Ford Sierra 2.0i GLX Hatchback. by bramm77, on Flickr 1990 Nissan Bluebird U11 2.0 GL Automatic Estate. by bramm77, on Flickr 1988 Nissan Bluebird T72 1.6 LS Hatchback. by bramm77, on Flickr 1984 Renault 4 GTL Estate. by bramm77, on Flickr 1991 Rover Metro 1.3 Clubman L Hatchback. by bramm77, on Flickr 1993 Hyu
  5. Hey this is a BL thread and thats a Vauxhall Victor. Ultimately, BL tried to cover too much of the market with its own goods, remember if one car you sell gets a bad reputation, and another has some issues (made wose by the press at the time loathing them), people will put two and two together (and in this case get five, because it was normally unjustified), they can end up assuming everything you make is rubbish. Sure, some of the cars sold really well, but the fact that most of them were on sale for a couple of years too long, it basically undid all the good work BL had done in the first
  6. I cant say I want to own anything Ive had the experience of driving, but as for cars that my family has owned, well it comes down to the Subaru my Gran owned for 17 years, which was scrapped because of terminal rust and this little beauty my Dad owned until he died, which is still incredibly local. 1995 Subaru Impreza 1.8 GL 4WD Estate. by bramm77, on Flickr
  7. I blame that long boot. I guess that just reinforces how much I dont know about new cars! Anyway, its ugly and Peugeot have really lost their way in my opinion. How can a company responsible for the 505 make such poor efforts? Which is made even more confusing by the fact Citroen appear to be on the up (I mean style wise, I know their reliability leaves much to be desired). Apologies for this not being on topic! How the hell did the C3 Pluriel last until this year?
  8. Great buy there wat, looks in good shape as well. They seem to be really quite uncommon cars now as well, the early ones in particular are pretty scarce. I remember back when they were more abundant Id always presume the owner was some eccentric/outward thinking individual, just because they looked really different.
  9. Just an idea, but is it possible for every thread ER comments on to not turn into a massive quote fest of what he says? On the subject of new cabriolets, Ill tell you one I dont like at all that much, the new RCZ by Peugeot is another case of poor proportion syndrome, that roofline is far too low and the front and rear length makes it look comical. Again, pretty pointless car, and it looks a hell of alot like the old TT from some angles.
  10. Would I be correct to assume the large selling price is down to it being a Marina Van? Remember that older commercials have a tendency to shoot up in value, of course there is every possibility someone has been bidding it up. £4200 seems like a massive amount to pay for it!
  11. Ha, I first drove at something like 17, when I attempted to reverse my girlfriend at the times KA, suffice to say, I stalled. Considering I have a relative with a farm, I should have asked if I could drive up and down the road, only got as far as the quad bike sadly. I seriously missed out! I could have driven the Marina which had been dumped by the barn, or the Allegro, or the Cortina MKIV....
  12. Blimey, close! I lived in Mirador Crescent, parents were managers of the Balfour News which used to be there from 98-02.
  13. Slough was basically like Escape from New York back when I lived there, we lived in one of the worse areas, near the hospital and people would have cars stolen from the petrol station, outside our shop, and there was so much anti social behavior (from youngsters and the old alcoholics) it was unbelievable. And experiencing an armed robbery is something I really dont want to try again. Theres just something unsettling about that place. Sadly, like most places which are rough, most of the people are really quite nice and its just the small minority who ruin it.
  14. Just yesterday I had a ride in a 53 plate Diesel Rover 75, thought that was pretty shite! Extremely comfortable though, and it made a nice change from those Fiat/Peugeot vans. I cant think of any old taxis around this way, but just the other month, whilst on the motorway, I saw a pre frog face Scorpio still operating as a Minicab, which has to be the oldest one I have seen apart from the D plate Metrocab I spotted in Notting Hill at the new year.
  15. Pretty sure he is, or was a member on here, under the name Richie something.... Wonder where he went?

Fantastic cars, I remember being amazed (like many children at the time, no doubt) by my uncles BX lowering when he parked it up. I always did like that car. And the SD1 is lovely! Last time I saw an early one in the wild, it had travelled all the way from Holland!
  17. Im 99.9% sure that there is a video of that group crash test on Youtube, and some of the deformation evident in the bodyshells was a bit worrying, but then again safety wasnt at the absolute forefront like it is now.

    Rover BRM

This thread has reminded me of this astounding prototype I chanced upon in Padworth breakers a few months back. Even better, it appears to have a cloaking device which even has the DVLA tricked. Registration P385KVV Make ROVER Model 216 Description SI You wanna know how to get a job? Dont ever be picky, money is money at the end of the day.
  19. Smart cars you say? Well back when we lived in Slough, my babysitters (lol) sister had one and it flipped over after being hit by another car on a roundabout. Thats about as close as Ive ever got to one. Probably going to keep it that way. Oh and apparently I live in the second (or most) well off area in the UK (And we are not rich) and I have seen ONE NSX in the past year, and that was in Basingstoke.
  20. Ugh, dont get me started on these things! I saw one the other day when I passed the Renault garage, and from the rear it must push that Nissanstein pretty hard for the worst design this year.A shame when the front design is neat and well rounded off. Trigger, I agree with you, from when I was about 3 and up until I was 15, I knew every car on the road, but these days, what on earth is happening? Wind doesnt even seem like a logical name! 'Oh lets see how our Wind copes with this strong gale heading in, with a name like that its just made for these conditions'.
  21. I made a point of attempting to count the amount of these things I saw yesterday, forgot I was doing it at 11am when I had seen 6, all late models bar a pretty smart CD prefacelift Saloon. So still pretty common here I reckon, managed to spot some rare models the other day!
  22. Hey, quality spots here! Funnily enough, the Suzuki LJ must be one of those cars I have simply never seen. Impressive amount of abandoned old tat you found as well, any stuff abandoned up there seems to stick around for quite a while (maybe not in one piece).
  23. Huh, what happened here?! I went away for one night and this occurs!
  24. I wonder what this could be? by bramm77, on Flickr
