Station got a reaction from cobblers in Crashing and fixing Mazda RX7 FD (non-shite)
I haven't even driven the car since the last repair, and the door shut just wasn't cutting it. I attached the new panel and it was 2 to 3 mm out. Every time I looked at it, I knew I had to do something about it.
That involved removing all the spotwelds again, and pulling the panel and rewelding. Of course it never goes like that. I started using my crap SIP welder (I found out stands for "Shit! It's Poo!") which immediately blew a great big funking hole in an edge which is going to be a bastard to repair.
Here is my ghetto panel puller.
After no success welding something onto the body I had to drill into the panel and attach a slide hammer to it. It's not pretty!
This is nearly my original shutline which would get me a job in Austin Rover Pressed Steel factory in the 70's.
This is a two person job, one person to pull the stick wedged in a wheel with the door shut to line it up, and then the other to open the door and weld it on. Fortunately I stand on the wheel with my cock 'n' bawls straddling the slide hammer, pulling it out with my back, while doing the work of three hands with my two.
I devised a plan to mount a handle onto the wall, and then use a ratchet strap to pull my puller and then do it easily, but my straps have gone missing. BAWLS

Wow, just caught up with this thread, I think you're mad, drifty, lucky, brave and I'm totally in awe of your skillz. Hope the car rewards you with long term fun.

Imagine the horrors of complete engine failure because the windscreen wiper got jammed on a twig.

Station reacted to vulgalour in Autoshite dreams?
Last night I returned from walking the dog to find an Oporto red series 1 SD1 with gold velour, lattice alloys and clear front indicators sat on the drive and a bright fuck off yellow fixed-roof TR7 parked next to it. Mike had bought the TR7 while I was walking the dog and had painted the minilites black so I wouldn't notice them, it didn't work. The TR7 had the black Triumph laurel on the bonnet.
When I woke my first thought was how strange I should dream about having a drive when we don't have one. Then I questioned myself for questioning that. Then I was sad because I don't have a TR7 or an SD1.

Had a terrible dream last night. Someone on here managed to talk me into buying a manual Merc 300TE wagon in burgundy over grey with mushroom coloured leather. I couldn't get comfortable in it because the seat runners were mounted at a 45 degree angle towards the tailgate but I persisted in driving it with my head out the sunroof. I parked it in my back garden (novel considering I can't access the garden except through the house IRL) and went in the house, then remembered I needed to urgently buy feed for my caterpillar who was very hungry. I nipped out into the back garden and tried to start the Merc but it burst into flames. I left it ablaze in the garden and walked to the shops via the local Volvo dealer when I was most excited by the new Volvo 365GLS estate.

I had a dream that I owned a Ford Escort. Woke up this morning and the nightmare was true.

Station got a reaction from Faker in Forced Sale: Skoda Felicia 1.3 "Victoria"...£125
When I bought mine, the seller said 'has VW engine' even though it had Skoda cast into it. And he advertised it as a 'Skida Fellatio'.
I remember the heater was HOT in these.
Thermostat housing breaks, speedo stops working, and pushrod engine (if it's 1.3) needs valve clearances doing a lot, but they're phenomenally reliable. Rear seats come out completely, loads of space in the back.
