I was watching 'Goldeneye' earlier where Pierce Brosnan angered Bond bores by driving a 1.9 Z3 when, as everyone knows, Bond only ever drives an Austen Fartin (apart from when he drove a Sunbeam Alpine, Lotus Esprit, 2CV).
 
It got me thinking - Goldenring is now 22 years old and the Z3 is the same. I never liked these much but I spotted this on Ebay and thought how simple and crisp it looks in a nice metallic pale green. The pre facelift version looked best.

I reckon these might be the next 'thing'. Drive an MX5 and you're branded a track day bore. Anything British was shite to start with, costs £10'000 upwards (Cambridge Sports, Shitfire) and had been stripped and nailed back together 19 times.

I had the ultimate in shite badge trim - Fiesta mk3 Popular. It had nothing. Nothing!

I've never been a fan of diesels either, but you can't help love the mpg and ridiculous but very short power band.

May I remind you of the tragic 1995 Escort Mexico, a car so shit they couldn't even be bothered to put alloys on it. What a missed opportunity. Then we have countless other junk like the Fiesta 'Flame', Frascati, Flight yada yada, all of which meant absolutely nothing and were merely an extra (cheap) sticker on the boot lid. All lame cars, with a last-ditch attempt at flogging a few more units to unsuspecting punters. It didn't matter though, they would have rusted away after a few years anyway.
Utter rubbish that only served to dilute the brand- something that Ford continue to do to this day.
 
Fwiw, I think the Astra 888 looks absolutely fantastic.
