I've put these up before but they go with this thread, there is a sort of transport museum in Istanbul
that has quite a few of these.

Another vote for Dewalt but invest in a 5ah battery some of the kits come with a four.

Re chrome sockets, if the chrome is flaky and you hold it on, as you gun it, it do hurt a tadge.

simmo got a reaction from wrenchvolt in bangernomics, where do you draw the line?
Bangernomics works for me, all down to vehicle selection and as said earlier not getting attached. There are plenty of usable vehicles out there with a year or to left in them that the normals give up on, or even better the holy grail of the misdiagnosed easy fix fault. My best example being a seven year Xantia (rough), free from a lad at work who was told he needed a new clutch £500+ and it was just the cable link thingy under the dash (I offered to give it back fixed but he declined). I got two years out of it with no additional expense other than MOTs, tax and insurance, although I did have to bodge up the O/S/F electric window. I was getting 40p a mile using it for work so easy paid for its self

Like all top BS stories I have been assured by someone who worked there that this absolutely true.
I think it has done the rounds so sorry if its been up already.

Aston Martin Tickford had various vacancies so had put out ads for a range of skills.  There was a good response but not many suitable applicants; they conducted phone interviews to weed out the unsuitable.  One chap had said he had worked for McClaren, so they asked him how long for, he said 10 years.  They asked what he did there, he said designed the chassis'.  After a few more follow up questions they were so impressed they offered him a job there and then.  When he started it turned out the chassis he was most proud of the was the highly successful Super Dreamer.

I did a course on test standards on trucks and buses the jist of it was that a lot of operators were actually over maintaining commercial vechiles and wasting money then moaning the standards were too high.  For example with an oil leak a vehicle idling for a minute would need to drop enough oil to cover a credit card to fail. So quite a bad leak and real problem for ATMs.

All vehicle tests used to be a basic roadworthyness test, lost the plot when they added things like number plate lights.
