My renewal came through at a 50% increase.
I spent an evening on comparison sites and confirmed that the renewal was very close to the cheapest price (which was with a company I've never heard of).
I called to accept the renewal providing they could move a little bit on the price (a fiver would have done for me).
They lopped a decent chunk off so I've finished up with a 21% increase on last year (which is about £30). I can cope with that.
I took mine to a place near Edinburgh to get the bores done. They turned it around in a day.
I stuck it in the boot of my 2cv and certainly knew I had some weight on board but did there and back (to Lincolnshire) in a (very long) day.
That rev counter thing is almost normal when a Xantia is jump started.
It's really not difficult to whip the instruments out, pop the front off, flick the needle back, and all will be fine.

This is a much more complete idea with the bulk of the battery built into the chassis nice and low down.
There's talk of a 250km range which is useful enough and 80mph, Dread to think of the price though.
