To be fair the MK1 Golf Cabriolet I had was crap to drive too, scuttle shake was awful so I can't imagine this being any better but whenyou get offered a old car you can't be fussy can you!
Hopefully viewing it next week with the view of getting it back on the road for this summer now that the ST200 has sold.
    This is it's current state

I’m getting strong MiM or Centra vibes, but can’t find a pic of that particular design 🤔

I've been offered a XR3i today, it's been of the road since before 2005, 1 owner from new who's passed away and his widow wants to move it on, still in excellent condition apparently but it has these wheels on it which are bugging me as I recognise them, anyone know what they are?

I see Carbaba isn't giving out the full details anymore, just basic stuff... Does anyone know of any new websites which give change of owner dates, colour change details etc for free?

We dropped off a vehicle at my local garage recently, and my wife happened to spot this awaiting work in their yard...

I enquired about it, and turns out it's in for a few jobs before sale. Started out life in Cyprus, and has had long periods of dry storage over here so the shell is very good - better than the ones she had when they were 10 years old.
It's also had a documented engine rebuild from a specialist, who she's been in touch with to confirm. The garage put it up on their ramp so we could check it over today, and although not perfect, it only seems to be minor stuff.
One trackrod end and lower ball joint
    CV joint
    Fuel hoses
Temperature gauge inoperative and high idle when warm (I think seperate sensors so possibly not linked)
    Sticking handbrake cables
    Low alternator output
    Coolant level sensor telling lies
    Missing jack
Missing door pocket but otherwise great condition interior.

I know most will just say get it bought, but any sober voices of reason out there to say why not? £7.5k which although is a lot, now seems towards the cheaper end of the range. And I'd rather be changing suspension and brakes than welding a rotten shell!

Had a silly bollocks moment and decided to sell my trusty old diesel Skoda Fabia that I've had for 5 painless years due to boredom and bought a newer Ford Focus from a garage

Nice car, well equipped, ticks all the boxes for a cheap to run work hack etc
I went to collect it yesterday from just over a hour away, firstly it wasn't very clean which the garage apologised for and then it had 30 miles of fuel left which again they apologised about but I made it clear I wasn't happy, especially as the nearest petrol station was a good 20 mins away, Thankfully I managed to full up ok only for it to go into limp mode as soon as I hit the A120 🙄

It did this 3 times after shutting it down and restarting it with a rough idle and smoke, FFS.
Garage said to bring it back and they'll fix it for me and will clean it properly now too and given me this Ssangyong Komodo thing to use until it's fixed

I shouldn't complain as it could have been worse but what a shit car, bonnet shakes at 70mph, it's far too big and bloated for a 5 seater SUV and it keeps bing bonging all the time.

    Genuine barn find found:

It's getting in the way in a building owned by a client. Saw it this morning, vaguely expressed interest and they asked did I want it?! They've threatened the lad who it belongs to that it's going into a skip if he doesn't get something done with it.
Turns out I took photos when it was still on the road 10 years ago. It failed an MoT in 2015 and wasn't repaired:

As a 957cc Popular I think it's as low-spec a Mk2 as it's possible to get, and not really something I'm interested in myself. But, it's the sort of thing I can imagine someone bringing along to an ECR meet, or maybe even FOTU. @trigger do you know of anyone?
