Always wondered about taking on a small unit myself, but some questions come to mind

On top of the rent I believe you may need to pay business rates as funnily enough they are classed as business premises. Not sure how this is worked out.

Do you not need to get a non domestic electrickery tariff, and is that more expensive or cheaper than domestic?

When I have idly looked, some of the estates you need to pay factor fees

Insurance may be needed in case you burn the place down. Not sure what this would cost.

Would love one. It would make life so much easier. Get a big enough one & I could live in it too!

It's a shame that the CX has never turned a wheel since that prog. Hopefully someone has taken it on and it's undergoing a wee bit of tlc.

I must say, I do like CX's I know of two people locally who have Gti Turbo 2's and another with a CX20 Palllas. They are just lovely cars to drive. Very underrated cars. A worthy successor to the DS. If I was offered a good CX Gti and a good DS 23 and told to pick one, I would be stuck!

I'll need to try and get some pics as there's a few former car showrooms/dealerships in this area still standing largely unchanged from 1980s/90s but now being used for other uses and they just dont like as interesting without dealer signage and a row of brand new and nearly new chod outside for sale despite the buildings being almost identical to their car selling days.

Fuck car manufacturers and their need to close 4 smaller dealers in 4 neighbouring towns and replace them all with one massive glass and silver clad dealership in a nearby retail park or right off motorway junctions. Or their need to have dealers selling off interesting long standing outright freehold owned sites to build big nondescript showrooms on "motor miles" and motor dealership "designated areas" where the whole road is now rows of similar looking sites where the service manager doesnt wear an overcoat, the mechanics arent filthy with oil and grease and the salesmen arent car enthusiasts but former mobile phone and widescreen telly and washing machine retailer staff who now nothing about what size engine is fitted to a 2013 Focus Ecoboost or the difference in spec between a Zetec and a Titanium, the parts guys always get the part wrong even when shown the part you need or given a part number and everything has to be ordered as they keep hardly any stock of parts.

I'm looking at you Vauxhall for binning Lylesland Garage in Paisley, Ferguson of Renfrew, County Motor Garage in Johnstone with an Arnold Clark at Linwood Retail Park.

Nigel Wild has the Citroen church. It's very sad, as he has many very rare cars that will never see the light of day. The running joke in the CCC is that no one has ever seen him in one of his own Citroens.

Last night I was channel hopping and stumbled across a somewhat cheesy show with somewhat contrived scriptings called 'Turbo Pickers' which appears to be based around the goings on in garage.

Anyhoo, one chap and his buddy was at the Citroen spares place that's in a church somewhere in Yorkshire (?). The James Bond 2CV is stored there. They bought an ECU and some CX spares. Eventually found out that the car they were working on was a W reg CX 2.4 GTi . Large gallic cars get me all hot and bothered.

One of the main guys who prefers 2 wheels was given a job to rebuild to custom spec (eg: no suspension) a 'Wall of Death' 1970s Honda CB200 belonging to Ken Fox: http://www.wall-of-death.co.uk/. He also uses Indian Chief (?) motorbikes too.

I thought that some of you might be interested I think the Quest TV channel has it's own online channel.

I'm not convinced that this is the best idea in the world as people can and do silly things. Some peoples DIY repairs may be somewhat suspect and the MOT was possibly the safety net for that.

What would have been wrong in making it every 2 years? That way you give owners a bit of a break but the system still sort of works.

Not saying the MOT is the be all and end all in vehicle safety, but it must catch some real whoppers.

Hendry I think some are suggesting that you are 'on the spectrum' (apologies I flipping hate that label but I cannot think of anything better right now) in part, because you are able to remember vast amounts of detail about many cars that you perhaps only briefly came into contact with in the past.

I don't recall you ever asking for anybody's opinion on that.

Personally I enjoy reading all of the car related detail in your posts, especially about Scottish Car dealers that are no longer in business. I can see that you aren't put off however

I hope you find an Escort. I won't say any more in this post unless I come across one you might be interested in.

Pretty much. I am genuinely eligible for a trade card and have one. When I went to get mine I went all prepared with the required info but the assistant never asked fir anything, not even proof of identity.

I wonder if the unnoficial line is to give a card to anyone who asks as discounted trade is better than none. I would probably not buy anything without the card anyway. It's handy to have though.

Here is my DGT dashboard, the very one mentioned above:

It works most of the time but occasionally the backlighting fails! It runs nicely, and handles well too, the steering is very direct. Shame the paint is flat and the door channels on the rear door like to rust but its good otherwise. I like to think this one is a keeper but I am up to three keeper cars now, and a daily, which is bordering uncomfortable car levels.

One of my favourite features on the Tipo, is that if you want to enter POWER mode you have to be travelling at 6000rpm. No thanks.

Glad you got your one back Rich.

One of our local Fete things banned Morris Minors.   Have to say I agreed, the local branch used to turn up en masse, park in an interminably boring line-up, erect stupid flappy gazebos and proceed to devour their Asda cakes and Tupperware box-fulls of sandwiches totally oblivious to anybody else or any of the myriad local delicacies on offer at the stalls.

Almost every one of these car's owners had at least one other interesting car they could have taken along (from Pagoda Merc to pre-war Peugeot) but instead it looked like the delivery park at Cowley during an annual shut-down.   Heaven forbid any of them should use their cars daily, attending this must have represented a good chunk of their car's annual mileage.

    And breeathe.....

Anyway, that  Wedgwood P6 is a flippin' beauty and a perfect match with the Cortina.....
