  1. That Underground station always sounds like a strange medical condition to me......
  2. Holy moly, that's some spotting! I recognise several of the cars as being based in and around Barnet!
  3. This looks like the Great West Road, in Hounslow (but I'm probably wrong!) If I'm right, I challenge anyone to have a picnic there today!
  4. So it would appear.... This was taken at Fingle Bridge during the MCC Exeter trial, from a Suzuki X90: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmJyKdeqkbw
  5. Driving around Finchley this morning I ended up following this: A real beauty!
  6. I've never understood the thinking behind these cars! Huge ground clearance, yet only 2 seats-odd!
  7. Bloody hell, I must have spent a few years in a time warp! I was certain it was many years before then!
  8. Blimey, I'd love to know the date of this picture, as that part of Trafalgar Square's been pedestrianised for as long as I can remember and I'm not exactly "in the first flush of youth"!
  9. A superb picture, showing the way messages were communicated to drivers before the advent of those ubiquitous things we all carry now....... This box was on the A30, between Exeter and Honiton and the registration of the car to which the message applied is an Exeter one, so appropriate to the area.
  10. My apologies! I was thinking of Youngs Brewery, based in Wandsworth, south London. Perhaps I may have consumed too much of their product before posting....
  11. Methinks possibly not...... Wm. Younger were a south London brewer and in the 1960s brewing was a regional, even local business, so the idea of a Younger's pub being that far "oop north" seems odd. In addition "BL" registrations belonged to Reading, further suggesting a "London" connection. Of course, I could be totally wrong....
  12. If this truck were involved in a collision I wouldn't want to be nearby.......
  13. Although the picture features two West German cars, in the shape of a Mercedes-Benz and a V.W. Beetle, it was taken somewhere in East Germany (G.D.R.) as the Minol brand of fuel was the Nationalised supplier of fuel to forecourts there. The full name was" V.E.B. Kombinol Minol".
  14. The same coach, parked airside at Luton Airport about a year ago:
  15. I'm late to this thread, but Kylie just totally does it for me every time! She did then and she still does!
  16. While out and about in Potters Bar earlier today I spotted this delightful old Rover being loaded and taken to a film shoot. The delivery driver had no idea what the film was about, though! Apparently there are a fair number of classics stored in the garage.
  17. We had to call out an emergency plumber on Monday. He promptly attended and parked his van in the driveway and I helped him carry some equipment into the house. He then carried ME into the house, after I'd collapsed with laughter, after looking at his van's registration..... I kid you not!!
  18. A few spots from the M1 last weekend. There was an Eastern European car get-together, to which, I suspect, these beauties were attending.... That Skoda Rapid might just be one of the very rare 135 catalyst ones. Skoda were, for once, ahead of the game, and fitted the 135 Rapid with a catalytic converter and associated injection systems well before it was became a legal requirement. I think the system was designed by Ducellier, but I may be wrong.
  19. Walking around 'appy 'ampstead over the weekend, I came across this, which should have belonged to the East German embassy.......
  20. Much of the filming for this episode of "The Baron" was carried out around where I live, near Elstree. A few years ago I revisited many of the places and made a small YouTube film of my escapades, using my (then) brown Daf 33 in place of Cordelia's Daffodil. (Anorak mode ON) The Daffodil featured in the series was supplied by Daf U.K. to the T.V. company, and was a Daffodil L.E. (luxe extra) which had a wood veneer dashboard and extra fog and spot lamps. This batch of cars bore registrations GLX 280-289 C (Anorak mode OFF) and I need to get out a lot more.....
  21. At last, a Dutch scene with a Daf in it, albeit very much in the background!
  22. That turquoise Honda seems to have slipped into an episode of "The Prisoner".......
  23. I NEVER knew that trick. I've learnt something today!
  24. Mark 1 Mini, with the distributor mounted on the front of the engine, without a cover. Driving through deep pater has never been so much fun........
