  1. The words "Lidl" and "style" are not often seen in the same sentence..........
  2. The first two cars are a Mercedes-Benz and a Brogward, but I can't quite make out the third & forth ones. Any ideas?
  3. I spotted this today in..... Potters Bar!
  4. Another shot from my skip spotting duties, running around Mill Hill this time. Although bearing a "64" registration, I'm almost sure it was a right hand drive one! How odd is that?
  5. On a 'bus earlier today I spotted this from the rear window of a 313 to Enfield Town:
  6. I attended the Princethorpe College annual P.T.A. fête, at which there was a classic car event. My Daf met a friend.... And there were some other cars there as well! An über-rare military Daf 66YA:
  7. A few random spots from my skip spotting runs around north London. The vintage FSO is quite something, although I can't say the neighbours of the guy collecting American WW2 transport appreciate the view......
  8. That Austrian registered pale yellow Suzuki jeep looks like a 440, which I think has a 2-stroke engine. Ian (of HubNut fame) did a road test on one recently and it sounded just GREAT!
  9. Is that a road in Camden, London? It looks familiar....
  10. The Peugeot 309 GTI and the Renault 4 are just great!
  11. I had a chat with the owner, who informed me it was an Austin 10.
  12. Wizzing about this morning in the Daf I ventured into M&S in Whetstone, where I parked next to this..... What are the odds? I chatted for a few minutes with the owner, who, like me, believes classic cars should be used not stored in garages all the time. A sunny day & a classic car-a great way to do the shopping!
  13. It wouldn't have rear-wheel steering, would it? it would therefore have a much smaller turning circle, so ideal for a taxi. Drivers of the old horse drawn cabs were positioned behind the passengers, so maybe the design was based on that idea.
  14. Was this picture taken from a "Motoring Which" magazine? I vaguely remember it from my childhood!
  15. OMF3G7!!! I've died and gone to heaven! A REAL proper FSO; right hand drive, not a personal import and in good condition! Oh, and I'm loving that "70s orange" Thanks for sharing!
  16. There's a fleeting reference to Zetor tractors in this Youtube video: Showing their importation, together with rear-engined Skodas and associated parts. I knew a guy in Cornwall who sold them in the 1980s, too!
  17. Spotted over the weekend in 'appy "Ampstead. I've seen it here regularly and it never seems to move!
  18. I never knew there was a van version of the BMC 1100! The estate cars are extremely rare, but I've never seen a van!
  19. It always amazed me that the British ar industry made a heater an "extra". I've never seen this on any foreign price lists, although I may, of course be wrong. Did anyone in reality order a car without a heater?
  20. I spotted this superb Nissan at the end of my road yesterday evening; it sports dealer plates-the genuine AFG (Associated Finance Group) ones, a cassette player and (wait for it...) a rack for holding cassettes in boxes! The paintwork has a delightful patina and it's in regular use-a perfect Autoshite car!
  21. From my encyclopaedic knowledge of the North Circular Road I think this might be the east-bound (clock-wise) A406 near Brent Park (home of IKEA) although comparison with GoogleMaps is inconclusive. The McDonalds next door to IKEA was clearly a pub some time ago & I wonder if the fencing on the right borders it. The houses in the background appear to have been demolished to build flats further back from the road at some point. Of course, I could be completely wrong........
  22. I'd be happy to live there! French properties like this often have a delightfully "down at heel" appearance from the outside (something to do with French property taxation rules, I think...) but are superbly spacious. Property prices in many parts of France are a fraction of those in north London! And I'm partly French and speak it well.....
  23. Weren't they called "pass lights"? They were meant to illuminate the kerb for about 50 yards in front of the car. I'm not sure about this, but when I was a child (early 1960s) I vaguely remember 'buses having these large lamps mounted low down and on the near-side, angled towards the kerb.
